Abstract: On January 15, 1929 a inspirational man from Atlanta, Georgia was born. People knew this man by the name of Martin Luther King Jr., but his actual name went by the name of Michael King Jr. He was an immense impact during the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King Jr. played an extensive role during the Civil Rights Movement and was one of the most influential leaders in the United States and history. For instance, he made a immense modification against racial discrimination and gained the equal rights for the blacks. The following ideas will be incorporated: Who was Martin Luther King Jr. before the Civil Rights Movement?, Why do we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day?, What did Martin Luther King Jr. believe in?, What made his speech, “I Have a Dream”, so historic?, Why did he win the Nobel Peace Prize?, and How did he influence the people in the United States?.

Day (MLK Day). “The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday celebrates the life and legacy of a man who brought hope and healing to America” (King, 2018). Some people remember King through his courage, justice, unconditional love, forgiveness, character, and leadership powers. Other people in the United States remember King by his inspirational words and his actions of nonviolence protesting. Martin Luther King Jr. Day honors the day of the brave and strong man that brought racial righteousness and equity. “On this day we commemorate Dr. King’s great dream of a vibrant, multiracial nation united in justice, peace and reconciliation; a nation that has a place at the table for children of every race and room at the inn for every needy child” (King, 2018). This day is to celebrate the equality, acceptance, and multicultural society of King’s dream for the United States.
