As an individual who cherishes and appreciates the freedom the United States provides to no end, it is hard to pinpoint a single action to fulfill such a large obligation to keep this country free. There is certainly a balance in which the citizens of the United States maintain freedom. Not every individual who practices their freedom returns the favor by also protecting it. This is where some men and women take the place of those who don't, going beyond what is needed to serve the freedom this country stands for.
With that being said, the most obvious answer is military service. The military is literally protecting and serving. Defending freedom from threats foreign and domestic. Alongside the military are the men and women who protect the

Basic participation in the government helps. It exercises the right citizens hold, and the power they hold over the central, and local governments. With power, comes freedom, and by exercising one's freedom, they central powers are kept at bay. This also includes voting. Not only voting for people who lead this country, but also voting for laws. Laws control how truly free one is, dictating how one must act. A citizen may vote against laws that infringe upon already established rights, and for rights that help secure freedom. There is a balance, laws are in place to keep one individual from infringing on another individual without compromising that first individual rights. Now, voting for leaders is a similar topic. The leaders of the United States are behind every decision that is made. Therefor, voting for those individuals who intend to increase freedom and secure rights is key. As well as voting for the removal of those leaders who infringe upon rights, removing them from their office and reestablishing the lost freedom they have created. Coinciding with the participation in government, simple activity in one's community is an important role in contributing to the country. Community service is an immensely important act that must be done by every citizen, no matter how small the act. Contribution to the community through volunteer work can be done by any individual willing. This once again brings back the original point of military service. While one is being paid to work for the community, it is still service to that very
Serving the United States Military comes with many responsibilities as well as pressure and accountability. However, the military isn’t for everyone, but it offers so much for those who serve. One thing that must be known and dealt with is that this career could be a life threatening one, and there are many obstacles one must go through beforehand.
Freedom is something that every American citizen is entitled to. It is one of the attributes that our country was founded on. John F. Kennedy’s “Inaugural Address” and Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “Four Freedoms” speech focuses around the concern of maintaining America’s freedom. However, while both speeches speak of making sure that America is still the free, safe nation is was meant to be, the two former presidents had different ideas on how to do so.
There are many more ways people can participate in politics other than by voting. In the United States, the second highest form of activity is by participating in community work in local communities. The
The Pennsylvania Army National Guard is a branch of the United States Army that is mostly used today for homeland security. Although the National Guard is not active like the Reserves or Active Duty Army, they still have the same requirements and same responsibility. More than 22,000 men and women make up the Pennsylvania National Guard and Air National Guard today. They reach from state quarters at Fort Indian Town Gap in Lebanon County to about 100 comunities in the commonwealth. Like all National Guard members they share the same responsibilities. For their federal mission, they are trained and equipped to join the active forces in the time of war or a national emergency. For their
I had no idea what I had gotten myself into when I signed that dotted line. I stared out of the bus’s window, stomach in knots afraid she would catch me looking. I decided to put my head back down into my green laundry bag and take a nap. “Maybe it would be as bad as I think it will be,” I said to myself trying to calm my nerves. I was wrong.
Haha! Believe it or not I was always methodical - despite what Marine Barracks portrayed me to be. For example, the reason why I went active duty wasn't because "I needed discipline" or "had no direction in life" but because of politics. My father (RIP) was a local and county statesmen. Before he passed away (when I was 11 years old on Christmas), he made me promise him that I would achieve 3x the amount of success he achieved. And considering my grandfather is an Army Veteran and a 32nd degree freemason - who wanted me to join his colleagues local lodge in Washington, DC, I figured Marine Barracks "was the perfect opportunity." Especially! How I would be in close proximity with my congress members: Gary Miller & Mimi Walter - who worked alongside
In the wake of the wars, our military’s men and women have experienced things that most people cannot dare to dream of. Although some of them are able to transition into the civilian life, many are left with scars that are mentally and physically traumatic. Rick Yount established Warrior Canine Connection in order to help veterans and their families find a service dog to successfully guide and aid veterans to become stronger and to function better. Service dogs have been around for many years helping veterans get back on their feet and helping them with their disabilities. Post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury affect hundreds of veterans each day. Those who suffer from amputated limbs must rely on others and mechanical devices to function.
America is often thought of as one of the freest nations in the world. Throughout history, America has fought to provide its citizens with as much freedom as possible. From declaring independence from Britain to fighting a civil war to free the slaves to, more recently, passing a law to allow gay marriage, America’s mission statement has always seemed to speak of liberty. No matter what riots break out, what issues they protest, American citizens always know deep down that this country is the best place to be; hearing about places like North Korea and China is a nearly constant reminder of this. Tragic tales from other nations are also a constant reminder to the American government that they have a responsibility to keep freedom alive, not only for the citizens of our nation, but for people all over the world.
Voting is the foremost way to exhibit good citizenship and civil responsibility. People should get involved in elections and educated in all political measures. By this they become good and responsible participatory citizens. It should always be remembered that some people sacrifice their lives to preserve the freedom and voting opportunity as a sacred right. True democracy demands the involvement of the people otherwise in absence of that there is no democracy(Akande, 2011).
Voting. What is voting? Voting means to bring awareness, to bring change, to be the part of the movement, and to be a responsible citizen of the country. Voting is a primary right and a duty of every citizen of the nation to being responsible for the change happening all over the nation and the world. Most citizens in any country are middle working-class families; the problem they are facing should solved by any of the president or government such as equal pay, low wages, job security, employment rights and similar problems.
As a new voter to the American society, it is my duty to know who and what I am voting for. It is said that people with a higher education are more likely to vote. My role is to represent the Senator, political party, and the candidate for the United States of America. Learning to become such an American that has the right to vote, and gives the final thoughts on how a certain subject should be ran. With being a college student and studying real world issues, gives me a better understand of the complex issues, and what changes can be done to either help or take away the situation. My civil responsibility as an American is to participate in government. To participate in the government voting, volunteer, and acknowledging what is going on in
Voting is very essential and one of the easiest methods to influence public policy. You just need to be registered, and go to a polling station. It is simple because the government encourages people to vote, to hear a broad range of opinions. It is a form of direct democracy because when you vote, it directly affects the side or issue you support. Your vote is one more supporting opinion for a candidate or issue that is counted. Some people may think that their vote won’t make a big difference, but if you look at it from another perspective it can impact smaller and local issues. Although voting is imperative because you are given this privilege at the age of 18, it is not the end of one’s ability to influence government, but rather the beginning.
On balance, the evidence suggests that participation in politics is important for many reasons. In the 21st century it is increasingly important fr people to to participate and encourage change.
Serving in the Military for 17 years, it has taught me many skills to be successful in life and when attending online schools or traditional learning in classroom environments. Of those skills are leadership, organization, reasoning, problem solving, oral communications, planning, and adaptive skills. Some of these skills I try to use during school such as organization, planning, and being adaptive. These skills are what I would say that I bring to the program and that they will continue to help me throughout my academic journey. Being able to be organized is key to ensuring that our coursework flows smoothly along with our everyday life styles. If we are unorganized then it can become very chaotic and unproductive to completing school work
When the founding fathers drafted the Constitution their main focus was creating a nation where everyone would be free from the restraints of a controlling government and treated equal. America has always been a nation of freedom, and needs to remain that way. The youth in this country is charged with the task of ensuring that America remains the “land of the free”. Without involvement in politics this is not possible. If youth are to maintain the American ideals of freedom and equality it is imperative that they be involved in politics. Voting every four years for the president, who is more of a figure head than anything else, is simply not enough. Young people need to take a more active role in politics such as running for a political office, local or national. This is the only way they will be able to put their beliefs into action and ensure that America upholds it’s long standing values of freedom and equality. The youth need to start taking action as soon as they are old enough. However, young people need to be educated on politics and be firm in their beliefs before delving into the world of politics. In recent years the youth have shown a trend of disengagement and apathy toward political involvement. According to “The Good Citizen”, a book written by Russell J. Dalton, political analysts and politicians agree that the youth are losing interest in politics and
