Kaitlin Olson once said, “I think people think of Oregon as such as granola, a hippie kind of a place”. Mike has lived and been to many interesting places in his life, but only one struck his heart with a certain kind of peace. Oregon can be a place of wonder on land, or even in the air.
Mike’s family was always big on spending time with their family. June 29, 2014 was a memorable time for Mike. That was the first he had ever flown over and through parts of Oregon. When he looked out the window of the plane he could see serene waters, thick green trees, and a beautiful snowcapped mountain in the distance. The day they had arrived they went to stay with their uncle in Hood River, OR. His home was a simple one story red bricked house, or so
Drew Sullivan was torn between his Catholic guilt and feeling free for the first time. It has been a couple of weeks since he fucked Kyle. Drew's kitchen shades were permanently closed, hence their playful peek-a-boo weekend ritual came to an abrupt stop. In Drew's mindset, temptation had been thwarted.
Airplanes. Window seats. Wilderness. Just a few of my favorite things, Melanie thought quietly to herself while flying over Canada. Staring out the window, gazing at snow-covered mountains that looked like they were peeking into the clouds, she tried to remember how long it had been since she last saw Connor, her older brother. When she was younger, they were close but their bond had faded out as Connor was constantly moving, never able to settle down. The last time she saw her brother was almost three years ago when they spent the day hiking in the Delaware Water Gap. The day was bright and sunny, perfect for the festivities. Everyone in the quaint little town of Black Rock came out for the unveiling. For the past three years, I’ve come up to this remote area to forget, to bury my grief. But this year, I don’t need a trip to this run-down resort, this little cabin on the lake, to survive this week. However, there’s one thing I’ve left behind each year when I head back to reality…
I finally arrived at the mansion for the annual family reunion. Many of my relatives and I were staying at my uncle’s mansion in Happy Valley— Happy Valley is the Beverly Hills of Oregon. There were over thirty five of my relatives in Oregon at the time and most of the relatives from California were staying at the mansion. I never fully understood how materialistic my family was until I went to this house for the hundredth time during freshman year.
The Oregon Coast will always hold a spot near to my heart. I can’t wait for
