As years passed by many people started migrating to the Oregon territory and the territory started to become crowed. With the territory being crowed this would soon lead to conflict. James Polk the master mind behind the manifest destiny campaign believed that the American people had the right to expand to the entire continent North America.
The Oregon tail was the longest overland route in the westward growth in the United States. The Oregon Trail is a 2,200 mile (3,500km) route from Missouri to Oregon and California. The first emigrants to make the journey were Marcus and Narcissa Whitman who made the trip in 1836. Few years later the Whitman Family and eleven other were killed by a party of Cayuse Native American on November 29, 1847. The Oregon Trail helped the United States carry out its cultural goal of Manifest Destiny, that is, to expand the nation from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. Settlers could not leave too early nor too late, if they do decide to leave early there would be no grass for the animals to consume, if they left too late they would have a chance of

Had my own eyes betrayed me? Can I trust anything? “‘What can you expect, it’s war...’” the neighbors said, and invited the Gestapos to invade our homes, our communities, and our lives, yet the Jews of Sighet still smiled as the Gestapo officers sauntered down the streets, guns slapping their thighs, sharp eyes scanning the streets, and allowed their strong German voices to slowly take away our rights (Wiesel 4). If any suspicion about the Gestapo's intentions was present, it was like gossip, hidden away from the light, but talked about in whispers, in the shadows behind closed doors. The thrill consumed me, the thrill of having my own secret, something I knew that no one else knew. I thought about the possibilities, “what the

British trappers, farmers, and missionaries started settling in the Oregon Country starting in the 1830s. As there was no central government in the region, the residents of the region started meeting to discuss organizing a government for the area. This led to the American government being concerned and encouraging American citizens to migrate to the Oregon Country in order to prevent the British immigrants from taking over. As Thomas Hart Benton said in his speech in the U.S. Senate: “... the Government… will give protection and land… Let the emigrants go on… they will make all quite there… drive [the British] off our continent, quiet their Indians, and protect the American interests…” (Document A). One of the first migrations of U.S. citizens into the area was in 1839 when a group of 18 men set out to settle the area on behalf of the American government; this was followed by The Great Migration of 1843 when almost a thousand emigrants left for Oregon. Following the inauguration of James K. Polk as president after the election of 1844, the border of the Oregon Country was finally settled at 49o latitude, despite the original demand of 54o40’ latitude, in an agreement known as the Treaty Line of 1846. Emigrants flooded into the area in thousands, partly due to the California Gold Rush which started in 1849 but brought wealth to only a few. As more and more people migrated into the area, southerners started bringing slaves along with them,

Drug trafficking is mainly the global illicit trade involving the cultivation, manufacture, distribution and sale of substances which are subject to drug prohibition laws; and illegal drug trade which is considered a global black market.
Though Oregon had given away all its free land by 1855, more would still continue to migrate to California and Oregon for many years. Hundreds and thousands traveled the Oregon Trail, and though approximately one in ten died from illness and accident, many more remained to settle and farm the land. They believed it was their divine right to do so. Today, some historic land marks and wagon ruts remain as monuments to the Oregon Trail. Many of the brave and bold from the east traveled its path, with ambition and hope in their hearts. Many would never see the lands they wanted to settle in.
