In the 2000 Sydney Games, she pitched the USA team to a victory over Australia and the gold medal game against Japan. While in the olympics, she established an Olympic single-game strikeout record with 25 in a round robin game. In 2004, not only was the the best pitcher but she was the best hitter on the USA team with a .545 batting average. For the 2004 games she pitched the final out for a 5-1 win against Australia and the title of another gold medal. Later she was chosen to play in the 2008 Beijing games where they received a silver medal. Away from the USA Olympic Team she was apart of the Pro-Fastpitch X-treme tour. In 1999 she was named the USA/ASA Softball Athlete of the Year.

Mia Hamm is influential because she was the founder of a bone marrow research foundation, she wrote a kids book to encourage them not to quit even if they don’t win, and she is an inspiration to girls who want to play soccer or any other sports.

Wilma Rudolph was a track and field athlete who was born on June 23, 1940, in St. Bethlehem, Tennessee. She was a sickly child who had to wear a brace on her left leg. She decided to overcome her disabilities in order to be able to compete in the 1956 Summer Olympic Games, and in 1960, she became the first American woman to win three gold medals in track and field at a single Olympics. Later in life, she formed the Wilma Rudolph Foundation to promote amateur athletics. The amazing athlete died on November 12, 1994, following a battle with brain cancer.

Hillary Sessi is a school counselor at Detroit Cristo high school, while her title is a counselor, the best way to describe her job is saying she is the school therapist. Before she started working there, that was the title of her job, but there was a lot of stigma seeing the school therapist. Thus, they changed her name to school counselor. She is a counselor to all 320 students, there are no specific requirements to see her, students can come on their own if teachers refer them to her. She is currently have a caseload of about 100 students that she meets with on a weekly or biweekly basis, and all other students can still request to see her. She assist students with academic, social, emotional, behavior and family issues.
