Mary's Accomplishments

Mary Anning was born in 1799, and she lived in the holiday resort Lyme Regis in Dorset. The cliffs and foreshore of Lyme Regis was rich in fossils such as belemnites, ammonites, small reptiles and sometimes fish, all in which were deposited in the Jurassic seas 200 million years ago.

Mary was canonised at the St. Basilica in Rome. The ceremony was attended by over 8000 pilgrims from Australia and New Zealand. To achieve the towards Sainthood, 2 miracles should be accepted by the Vatican. Mary's first miracle was recognised by the Vatican in 1993. They confirmed that Mary was the cause for the miraculous cure of the woman who suffered from Leukemia in 1961. When the doctors have no hope, the woman gave birth to a boy months later after she prayed for Mary MacKillop's intercession.

Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune has paved the way for african-american adolescents, like myself, to live a life of greater quality. Being born of slaves, no one imagined that her values would manifest into a prestigious Historically Black College/University. From toiling in fields with her family, to becoming the president of an accredited college was a huge accomplishment for blacks at the time. Mary Bethune’s prosperity didn’t conclude with the commencement of her own distinguished university, but she became a national leader. The National Association of Colored Women became popularized for advocating the enhancement of colored women in society. Mary Edwards Walker accomplished many things in the 86 years that she was alive. Susan B. Anthony was born February 15, 1820 and raised in very religious household. She first started off as teacher before she became and extravagant women that not just worked for herself but for many other women’s rights. Susan B. Anthony should be a historical figure due to the fact that she went through so much suffering. In which she fought for the women’s right to vote and as well as gender equality. Bush hoists a bag of crack cocaine in front of the cameras and proclaims, “the gravest domestic threat facing our nation today is drugs.” After this, Bush gave a set of nine goals for the American people to achieve within a decade for the War on Drugs effort. By 2000, only two of the goals were met. The War on Drugs was declared in 1971 by Richard Nixon. Since then, it has been a topic of debate on whether it should be carried forward or be nullified. The majority of what the program has done is putting small time offenders away, creating a cycle of jail, getting out, inability to find a job, back on drugs, and eventually back in jail. This cycle needs to be stopped. The war on drugs has failed society by being an unsuccessful program, ruining people’s lives, and fueling crime. The War on Drugs is a failed program that needs to be reformed to better suit the needs of people today.
