As a part of the marketing team for the commonwealth games hosted in Glasgow in 2014, I have decided to market in Australia. I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11 times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australia is by virtue of them having a longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens where Scottish Australians and 1,792,600 claimed Scottish ancestry (National Records of Scotland, 2011). Statistics listed in the above will make it more inviting for tourist from Australia to come and watch the Commonwealth games.

The UK Government (Scotland wise) have a strong tie with the Australian Government. VISA processes will be easier to obtain, even though Australia is not in the EU. There is an Australian consulate within Edinburgh. Therefore, families can help other family members back in Australia to attain the UK Visa. In Australia, the Scottish embassy can be located in Sydney, Canberra and Perth. As part of my marketing plan, handing out brochures and flyers about the commonwealth games in Scotland inside all the Consulates and Embassies regarding Scotland and Australia will be incredibly beneficial in receiving more tourists for the event. A contract stating that during the Commonwealth games VISA’s should not be longer than a month, in order to avoid
Since colonial times, sporting successes especially in cricket have assisted the emerging nation of Australia to establish its identity. The prevalence of cricket in Australia constitutes what Markovits and Hellerman (2001) coin a, “hegemonic sports culture”, and subsequently represents an influential part of Australian culture. However, the modernity discourse undermines the degree to which Australian identity is taking into account British Legacy.Today the Australian culture is comprised of a differing scope of encounters, nationalities and cultures, subsequently confounding the idea that Australian identity is based on British heritage. The verbose accentuation set on Australia’s
According to the Oxford Dictionary, the Universal definition of ‘devastating’ is, ‘causing severe shock, distress or grief.’ World War One is the war that historians often describe as ‘devastating’. In a letter to Andrew Fisher, Keith Murdoch stated, “It is undoubtedly one of the most terrible chapters in our history”. The Great War, as it is commonly known, had a devastating effect on the Australian society, through the psychological torment that haunted the soldiers, nurses and civilians. A question prominent in the events leading up to the centenary of the landing at Gallipoli was, ‘Why should we commemorate the centenary of our participation in this conflict?’
Discuss the article ‘Reinforcing the myth: Constructing Australian identity in “reality TV” ’. The main contention in Price Erma’s article ‘ Reinforcing the myth: Constructing Australian identity in “reality TV” ’ which published online on May 2010, is to portray the myth of Australian identity shows in TV that there is a balance to measure how much is true, how much is false. Erma leads the reader to understand that the myth is against ‘reality TV’ because there always has tension between ideas of credibility and performance even TV shows are based on ‘real’ situations or people’s everyday life.

The sporting mega events that were chosen for our analysis was the Summer and Winter Olympics, the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games. These 3 events are the largest mega events in the world, and are excellent representations of sporting mega events as a whole. We wanted to go as far back as our data indexes allowed us to go, which was the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, so we made that our starting point. Our goal was to look at all of the bids made for the mega events, and look at a selection of variables influence on their chances of winning. We used data from the year the countries hosted the events (excluding the data used for future events) in order to go as far back as the indexes would allow us.
Many people across Australia regardless of being indigenous or not, have been asking for recognition for decades now. The formal process examining of how to achieve recognition has been ongoing since 2011. There have been two expert committees that have reported on the next steps working towards a meaningful and successful referendum for constitutional recognition and amendment of sections 26 and 51 for example. There are many ways in which a law or system of laws or values potentially may be ‘recognised’. At a grounded level, to say that Australian law should ‘recognise’ Aboriginal customary laws is to say that it should acknowledge them and their existence. This sense of ‘recognition’, though not a specifically
Australia is known internationally for Kangaroos, cork hats, and a pair of thongs. Australians themselves are known as easy going, relaxed sports fans, who seem to have our own style of doing things.
The 2014-15 budget was rolled out and has shown that funding for the games has increased by %74. This will provide for the Gold Coast, as this money is needed to create sporting venues and a Commonwealth Games village that will also leave long-term economic benefits for the community. The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre is receiving around $59.3 Million for the significant planning work and redevelopment that it’s receiving to provide a better venue for the games. The Commonwealth Games Village is being planned as well; $46.1 Million has been allocated for the development and site works of the village at Parklands. Hopefully this new budget and funding will deliver a successful event that can help provide a lasting image of the Gold Coast that will present the city as an ideal tourist destination to the rest of the
Traditional marketing and Sport Marketing have similarities and differences. Being able to understand the similarities and differences would help someone comprehend both principles. Both principles share the Marketing Mix or 4P’s of marketing. The 4P’s are product (or service), place, price, and promotion. As defined by McCarthy and Perreault (1988), the marketing mix refers to the controllable variables the company puts together to satisfy a target group. I will explain the differences of the 4ps in traditional marketing and sports marketing.
Earlier in the 1980s Australia formed an elite national sports system to compete with the best athletes in the world. In the 1990s Australia gained extensive amount of benefits from this system as Australia created a new generation of worldwide successful sports stars.
Throughout history to present day, Australian culture has become the product of a distinct blend of established traditions and new influences. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the country’s original inhabitants, created the foundation for the land’s cultural traditions over 40,000 years ago. In addition, the rest of Australia’s people are migrants or descendants of migrants from various other countries who transported their own customs, beliefs, and value systems to the land. As a result, Australia’s culture has significantly broadened its social and cultural profile over the years, and still continues to evolve today.
As the ABC is an organisation heavily involved within the Australian Multimedia Industry, the tools and equipment used are integral to the quality of the content produced. For different areas of production, the tools and equipment used will differ, for example, when working in television, equipment would include a set, cameras, tripods, microphones, props, lighting, video monitors and teleprompter. To edit and deliver good quality television content, the department would use various editing tools and software’s during post-production focusing on almost all areas of audience experience such as visuals and audio. Some of these tools include Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Flash and Computer-generated imagery (CGI). When working with radio, the equipment needed to produce a podcast or broadcast includes a sound proof room or studio, sound boards, microphones and switchboards and the tools used for editing would be solely based around sounds to enhance the audience’s aural experience, so this would include sound editing software such as audacity.
