Good Morning, it is with great pleasure that I write this letter of support for Orion Edwards in his application for the University of Guelph McKendry-Baker Memorial Scholarship.

t's my great pleasure to recommend Jorge for the Horatio Alger Scholarship, who I got to know as her counselor for the last six years. He is very hard working, determined and motivated to excel. He is very assertive when he expresses his ideas and try to present his points of view showing respect for the other side. His AP World History teacher describes him as a very intelligent young man that constantly shows enthusiastic and his excellent comments in the class reflect his involvement in the discussion. It is my great pleasure to recommend Denise Perez-Viveros for The Salvation Army Women’s Scholarship. I am the pastor of the church she attends. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for several years.

Much like Seral Gilmer, my parents made their living in the textile industry until the closure of my father’s plant in 2007. Despite being laid off, my father continued to make my education a priority and started his own business to support my family. He has instilled in me the importance of not only education, but also of integrity and perseverance. I too plan to open a business someday and give back to the community that made me who I am. With the Seral Gilmer scholarship I hope to further my education so I can achieve just that. Thank you.

As one of the recipients of the Mirta Penelas Scholarship I want to thank you for the support of Miami Dade College and its students. This Financial Assistence is going to help me archieving my dream of becoming a Computer Programmer. My dream is to get, not only my bachelor’s degree, but also my doctor degree. I am twelve years old, and my family hails from southern Switzerland, where we also speak Italian. My family is quite different, my father being Italian, and my mother being Swiss. The Mishlers on my mother’s side of the family had been fortunate enough to travel to the America long ago, in the mass emigration of 82’. Our family in Bellinzona, in southern Switzerland, had made enough money off of our family chocolate store, and my mother, Mildred Montanari,

College graduation rates are low in America and the groups most affected come from underrepresented backgrounds.The America Needs you fellowship aims to equip underrepresented student who are motivated in their pursuits. With impressive achievements, America Needs You elected Alvaro as fellow of the year.
