At last, the nine-hour ordeal is over with. I step out from a hot, fast-moving hunk of steel onto macadam that still radiates heat from the long day under the sun. The sun has long gone down by now, but it has been replaced by an eerily bright, full moon. I grin widely up at the stars and let out a shout of joy and relief as I stretch my tired arms as high and wide as they will allow. “Thank you, Lord” is the one sentence I utter, and it truly sums up everything I am feeling.
