Six people died in less than a week… this is how. These six deaths could have easily been prevented. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Lord Capulet and Friar Lawrence should be punished and Nurse should also be punished for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. First, Lord Capulet should be punished. First of all he should be punished because he made his daughter marry count paris. Her father states “But fettle your fine joints ‘gainst Thursday next to go with paris to Saint Peter’s Church, Or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither.” (3.5.153-155)He did not pay attention to Juliet except for when he wanted her to do something. The only time he talked to her for the most part was to yell at her that she will be marrying count paris. Lord Capulet also threatened to disown his daughter. He says that “An you be mine, i'll give you to my friend; “and you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets.” …show more content…
He kept Romeo and Juliet’s marriage secret. He did not tell anyone that he married them. He was about to marry people he knew he shouldn't and could lose his ability to be a priest if he was or someone found out about the marriage. He was asked to marry Juliet to Count Paris and he agreed even though he already married Romeo and Juliet. He encouraged someone to lie. He told Juliet to lie about marrying romeo and to marry Count Paris. He should be punished because he is lying a lot and encouraging others to do the same. He says “The sweetest honey is loathsome in his own deliciousness, and in the taste confounds the appetite. Therefore love moderately: long love doth so; too swift arrives as tardy as too slow.”
He had it planned out for Juliet to fake her death so she did not have to marry Paris. Friar Lawrence gave her a “poison” to give her the effects of death. When she woke up from “being dead,” Romeo would show up at the Capulet’s tomb to retrieve Juliet. Then she would run off with Romeo to Mantua where they would live happily ever after. He should be pardoned because he did not mean any harm.
In the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare two teenagers met, fell in love, and eventually committed suicide from the pressure around them. Juliet's family, the Capulet's and Romeos family, the Montague's have a strong rivalry between each other. In my opinion, the Capulet's are to blame for Juliet's and Romeos death. The Capulet's are at fault because they played a major role in the ongoing rivalry with the Montague's, they were pressuring Juliet into marrying Count Paris, and had Romeo banished from Verona.
Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because Friar could have told everyone that they were married and he gives Juliet the potion. This conflict could have easily been resolved if Friar Lawrence would have been truthful.
Additionally, his support went further than marrying the two children but trying to help them when Juliet is forced into marrying Paris. Giving Juliet a sleeping potion that have the effects of physically looking like she is dead to make her family think that she killed herself so she wouldn’t have to marry Paris then run away with Romeo.
Do you want to hear a fun fact about the story Romeo and Juliet? You will have to keep reading to find out at the end! In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare, the author has six people die in the end. There are three characters in the story of Romeo and Juliet that take some and most of the blame on the death of the two Romeo and Juliet. Two of the characters take some of the blame while the third character takes all of the blame. The two characters that take some of the blame are Lady Capulet And Lord Capulet. Lady Capulet is married to Lord Capulet and have a daughter named Juliet. The third person that takes most of the blame for their death is not a person at all. It is fate. These three characters are the reason why Romeo and Juliet take their lives. ("DBQ: Romeo and Juliet: Who's to Blame". Doc.B,A,D)
Juliet says that she will not marry Count Paris and Lord Capulet gets angry. “Out, you great sickness, carrion, Out, you baggage” (Romeo and Juliet 3.5.156). Capulet should be punished because he insulted his daughter and said that he would disown her just because she did not want to get married to Count Paris, who she did not want to marry. Another reason Capulet should be punished is because he did not pay attention to Juliet or what she was doing. Juliet was doing a bunch of dumb things that lead to her death and Capulet did not pay attention to any of this. Capulet does not pay attention and doesn’t stop her from these things and it lead to her death. If Capulet had paid more attention she may not have ended up dying. Lord Capulet should be punished for disowning his daughter and not being a better
There were 6 characters that died in the play and some people that lived should be punished. There is obviously somebody that can be blamed out of everyone alive for what happened to Romeo and Juliet. In the play Romeo and Juliet Lord Capulet,Nurse, and Friar Lawrence should be punished. First Lord Capulet should be punished. First reason would be because he was verbally abusive towards Juliet.
In William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, a long feud between the Montague and Capulet families disrupts the city of Verona and causes tragic results for Romeo and Juliet. Revenge, love, and a secret marriage force the young star-crossed lovers to commit suicide in despair. In the play Romeo and Juliet there are lots of events that lead to the death of the two main characters. All the characters in the tragic tale of Romeo and Juliet could be accused of being responsible for their deaths, but throughout this tragic love story Friar Lawrence has shown to have the greatest responsibility for the death of Romeo and Juliet.
This action puts Romeo at fault because he failed to use logic, any other person would have made Friar Lawrence explain why Juliet is “dead”. “These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder, Which as they kiss consume: the sweetest honey Is loathsome in his own deliciousness And in the taste confounds the appetite: Therefore love moderately; long love doth so; Too swift arrives as tardy as too slow.” (Act II, Scene VI) In this quote, Friar warns Romeo to slow down by explaining that going too fast is just as bad as going too slow. The quote is interrupted by Juliet running in and hugging Romeo, which causes Romeo and Friar to forget their conversation and begin the wedding ceremony.
Romeo and Juliet was one of Shakespeare most talked about pieces. The death of Romeo and Juliet’s was the most controversial part of the story. Many have no clue for who it is to blame for their deaths. However, Ix believe that Lady & Lord Capulet are to be blamed for their deaths. The reasoning behind that would be because her mother was isolated from juliet, she had a different perspective on love, and the Lord capulet was
In scene 3 act 5 Friar speaks on how Juliet came to his cell asking for help and if he didn’t marry them she would kill herself. Friar gave her a sleeping potion to make it seem like she is dead. Paris convinces Lord Capulet to take Juliet’s hand in marriage. He disagrees because of how young, she is but he tells her he wed his wife at her age. Lord Capulet believes it is a bad idea, he says he won’t agree to let anyone marry Juliet unless his daughter consents to the match. He took a big part in this whole scheme. If he told someone, maybe they wouldn’t have
What if the deaths in the play “Romeo and Juliet” play by William Shakespeare weren’t actually caused by Romeo and Juliet? There are many characters that had an influence on the deaths from behind the scenes. The complications that they made had effects that caused all hope of Romeo and Juliet’s relationship being successful to come crashing down.If that is the case then some of the other characters in the play are directly responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. It could even be someone from the family. If Romeo never knew about or got kicked out of the party then he never would’ve met Juliet in the first place. Tybalt wouldn’t have gotten mad and Juliet would have been okay with Paris marrying her. Lord Capulet is responsible for
To start off, He was very selfish and only though about himself. He never thought about what his daughter wanted. When Juliet wanted to merry Romeo her dad wanted him to marry Paris. He didn’t listen to Juliet. Also, he made the party where Romeo and Juliet met. If he wouldn’t have made that they would have never met. At the party he hired servants who were unable to read. That made it hard to tell who’s a party guest and who’s not which made it easier for Romeo to sneak in. To end it off if Juliet wouldn’t have met Romeo none of this would have ever
Lord Capulet’s firm and merciless control can also be blamed for pushing his daughter to the extreme and ultimately her untimely death. When Juliet refuses to marry Paris, Lord Capulet proves his insensitivity, even threatening to disown his daughter and cast her to the streets if she does not obey his wishes. He warns her that she may “graze where [she] will, [she] will not house with [him]… for, by [his] soul, [he] will ne’er acknowledge [her]” (III v 200-205). These threats instill fear in Juliet, and in her despair, she seeks the advice of Friar Lawrence who gives her a potion that will make it appear as if she is dead the morning of the wedding. Lord Capulet can be blamed for his stubbornness and insensitivity despite his daughter’s sincere requests not to marry Paris.
