nThe Lindenwood football team travels to Pittsburg State this Saturday. The Lions and Gorillas will kick off their contest at 7 p.m. in Pittsburg, Kan.
nLindenwood enters the contest with a 1-2 overall record. Last week, the Lions scored the first 16 points against Washburn, but the Ichabods scored the final 26 points of the game for a 26-16 win.
nPittsburg State is 2-1 on the season. The Gorillas have won two straight games, including a 68-21 road victory over Northeastern State last Saturday.
nPittsburg State owns a 4-1 record all-time against Lindenwood, and it has won each of the last four contests. Lindenwood is 1-1 all-time in Carnie Smith Stadium.

nTrue freshman Drew Seers had a breakout game against Washburn, making 18 tackles. He also collected one pass breakup and 1.5 tackles for loss. Seers is currently third in the MIAA with 10.3 tackles a game.
nLindenwood’s defense is allowing just 162.0 passing yards a game. The most passing yards it has given up this season is 191. nDarrius Williams also ranks in the top-10 in the MIAA in tackles. He is averaging 9.3 tackles a game, which is sixth in the league.
nJonathan Harris recorded his first sack of the season against Washburn. He now has 11.5 sacks for his career, and also has 21.0 tackles for loss.

Coaching, preparation, calm under pressure, and teamwork propelled the Lady Panthers to victory.
The Jr. Reds novice team is 7-1 and has played outstanding defense this season, only giving up points to Waterford. Calaveras is averaging nearly five touchdowns per game.
Last night in Zanesville at Sulsberger John D Stadium, Newark Catholic and Fort Frye battled in a third round playoff game. Fort Frye came in 12-0, while the Green Wave came in with a,8-4record. During the regular season the teams Fort Frye anihlated had a combined record of, 39-63 and the biggest schoo they faced was, division five Northridge, a team Newark Catholic hammered by,28. Fort Frye got them by 17.
The Mountaineers (26-19) scored 14 runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Ross Vance lasted only 4.2 innings. The senior lefty gave up six runs on six hits. He walked four.
After a Northridge penalty moved the ball to the two-yard-line, Gibson would go the final two-yards for another Newark Catholic score.The point after kick was missed. leaving this a,27-12 Newark Catholic lead.Gibson finished with 136 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries. He looked like a man playing against boys in the the second half. A large part was because of the work of his offensive line, who seemed to play much better then they did in the opening half.
A kick from Anderson started the game, not long after, QB Lucas Smith runs a 18yd touchdown, starting the game out with a 7-0 Turpin lead. The Redskins’ Kyle Blaha soon persevered through the unforgiving Turpin defense and ran a 2 yd touchdown, evening out the score out 7-7. “Our offense and defense did well, but there’s always room for improvement.” Coach Kenter explained after Turpin gave up 21 points in the first half. “But I think this was one of better games of the entire season, the team really brought it.” Second quarter brought both the Spartans and Redskins 2 new touchdowns each and an exciting 65 yard pass Turpin touchdown, Smith to Will Hausfeld. Halftime stopped the intense game at a suspenseful score of 21-21.
The Jonathan Alder football team finished their regular season on Friday, October 28 with a victory against their conference rivals from Fairbanks. Despite that the final margin of victory sat at just 14 points, the Pioneers manhandled the Panthers for much of the game. Alder headed to the locker room for halftime winning the game 35 to 7. Their offense was headed by touchdown receptions from junior quarterback Preston Eisnaugle to senior fullback Hunter Maynard and junior receiver Dalton Potts. Rushing touchdowns from junior running back Jamie Dye and senior fullback Austin Fooce, who ended the first half by bulldozing the Panther’s defense for his second score of the game, also added to Alder’s offensive production. nJonathan Harris leads the team with 3.0 sacks this season, and he has 4.5 tackles for loss. Drew Seers and CJ Bivens are also tied with Harris with 4.5 tackles for loss.

Unofficially the Eagles offense soared to 287 yards, while the Bison totaled just 62-yard. Grove City had completed 9 of 9 passes and total 35 plays ran. The Bison ran just 27 plays and went 1-5 through the air with one interception. As cliche as it is this game had been made this uneven because of the dominating performance by the Grove City offensive and defensive lines.. They were having a field day against their counter parts.
After earning nearly every First Team All-SEC lists in 2015, Zach Cunningham has been named to multiple 2016 preseason nominee lists including the Dick Butkus, Bronko Nagurski and the Denarik awards. His 16½ tackles for a loss and four forced fumbles were third highest among SEC players during the regular season. With 14 career starts in 23 games, Cunningham is the leader among the linebacker unit. He's also the Vanderbilt active career leader in total tackles (170), solo tackles (106), tackles for a loss (23), forced fumbles (five), and fumble recoveries (three).
The Hilltoppers will host Kings Mountain (6-2, 3-2), which they have beaten two straight years. Kings Mountain is much better than a year ago. The biggest reason is that Jair McCluney has been tough to stop at running back. Jake Merchant and Kavin Mosely lead the wide receiver corps for Kings Mountain.
Things got start with a bang, when Dawson Martin took off for a sixteen-yard run, showing speed and nice field vision. Martin would close out the drive on a 2-yard run to make this a,6-0 game. A two point conversion run by,Elijah Malcolm made the score,8-0, with 9:05 left in the quarter.
