Have you ever dreamed of your life when you were growing up? What are you looking for about having a perfect life? In this world, we will learn and get experiences on many things. However, we do not have any expectations to get a perfect life, it means we must do by our own. In my opinion, life seems like a “waves” in the ocean. Sometimes it is a gentle wave, but sometimes is a raging wave. Life is kind of that, when we are in a difficult time, we will get a “raging waves” and contrary. Therefore, we can get over it or not, it depends on ourselves. Once, when I was in high school, my teacher said: “The path of life always haves a red rug with roses, but the roses will have thorns”. Honestly, I really love this direction, and I will talk more about this. So what does my teacher mean? This advice he told us before we graduated. “The red rug with the roses” means we will be successful and have the best achievements, when we walk on it, we feel very happy. However, “the roses have thorns” means on the way to be successful, sometimes we will have a hard time or failure. Although, after you failed, you must overcome it and learn. I think that is the best way we can improve our defects. Besides, William Zinsser used a word for the fink, especially the teen-age fink- means the person who has a lack of success. Also, why he just …show more content…
There is nothing to be afraid, just are not brave enough to do it. In fact that, if we are aware which affair we should do and should not do, we will not fail. Learn from the mistake is the best way, sometimes everyone will think why we should learn it. However, they do not know, they can fix it if they know where did they get the mistake and fail. “Society” and “Family” are the best places we can learn and grow up. In an agreement that, we can learn from success too, because behind the success achieved always has the
“Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.” Jim Rohns quote highlights the basis of Debra Oswald’s play Gary’s house, and also Miroshav Holubs poem The Door. This essay will explore the notion that change causes people to shift their thinking and actions after significant catalysts. Gary’s House illustrates many of the issues and predicaments confronted by the characters and how their alteration in behaviour can have a beneficial outcome for them or others around them. The concept of "The Door" is based on the idea of taking risks and embracing change. The poet uses persuasive techniques to encourage and provoke the audience to take action.
In the play, Plaid tidings. The comedy by Stuart Ross. There are four boys that get together with common goals to become a famous singing group. They get some gigs becoming more and more important as they went on. They finally got a gig that they thought was going to be there big break.
We failed at what we wanted to accomplish because of procrastination. The learning lesson was to work harder next time and focus on what we as individuals can
At first, after discovering she had frequent migraines, Didion denied her predicament. She felt embarrassed, like it was a secret that would enforce to others her negative qualities. Eventually, she began to accept the fact that migraines were simply something she would have to get used to.
“You know what I’ve found out about disappointments? I think that if we face them down, they can become our strengths.” (Bauer 113) In the novel Hope Was Here written by Joan Bauer, the main characters go through some difficult struggles. One of the main people, Braverman and Addie both had to overcome disconsolate times. Braverman chooses family over education. Addie goes through hard times when she losses her husband along with three unborn babies. This reminds me of the time where my mother’s friend, like Addie, lost a child, and had to overcome that. While people go through difficult struggles everyday, they learn to learn and grow from them. Like William J. H. Boetcker said, “The difficulties and struggles of today are but the price
Through this examination of the differences between past and present, wrong and right, and North and South, by Ray West Jr., the different viewpoints and conflicts that appear throughout “A Rose for Emily” are deeply analyzed. West’s critical assessment divides the characters based on who represents the old ways and who represents the changing times. However, the story shows the South’s fervent desire to keep their lifestyle the same. Emily attempted to hold her love for Homer like the South attempted to hold its love for gentile days before the Civil War. West’s asserts that Emily’s fall from grace symbolizes the South’s fall. The deterioration of Emily and the South during reconstruction parallels the slow deterioration of Emily’s house.
The book Blue by Joyce Mostetter had several things that were historically accurate. Many people in Catawba County got polio. They were very sick. The ironlung was used to help people with polio breathe. There were two types of polio. One type affected their lungs and the other type affected the lower half of their body. In the story, Ann Fay is the main character who tells us about her life when her daddy was sent off to war and her brother contracted polio. Discrimination was also an issue in the story.
In the book Life is so Good, George Dawson and Richard Glaubman give a very rare representation of life in the early 1900s. George Dawson, a poor and illiterate black man tells life as it is through his experiences. These many life experiences are portrayed in new stories told chapter by chapter intrigue the reader of the book. This paper will review Dawson’s many stories and his perspective on life at the time, as well as the way his views and mindset compares to the philosophy of African Americans at this time.
The idea of universal love is one that is prevalent in the media. With the news filled with grim stories and horror many people are calling to the idea of loving everyone. Tensions are high concerning race relations, gender discrimination, and sexual orientation. Many in the general public are calling for humanity to embrace humanity. Many in the general public are asking “why we can’t just love one another”? Stephen T. Asma tackles this idea of love in his article published in the New York Times. Asma discusses two different ideas about universal love before offering his own take on the subject. Just as Asma states, universal love is a myth and closer personal relationships should be favored.
In every home, there is a different definition of family and how family should treat each other. Two short stories were read by an author named Flannery O’Connor. “A Good Man is Hard to Find”. It was about a dysfunctional family who encounters a criminal named “The Misfit”. The grandmother which is the main character is very judgmental towards others and sometimes her own family at times. This story starts off with a disagreement on where to go for a family trip, but they decide on going to Florida for the family trip after a while of arguing. On this trip, it showed what type of family they are. They talk about everything with one another as well as bicker and fight but at the end of the day, they are still family and love each other. They come together the most in panicking situations such as the accident and waiting for a car to help them. The point of this paper is the theme of family. Specifically, family is a theme in this short story because it depicts a dysfunctional family; the family you see on a crazy television show and can’t get enough of because they’re funny but also they have serious moments. There 's the two troublesome and annoying kids, the hot-headed dad who tries to maintain control of a situation and fails, the wife busy attending to the baby, and the grandmother, who 's a case all to herself (and also the main character). Though the story starts out seeming like a comedy, it takes a serious turn when the family encounters a criminal, who kills them
This Paragraph is going to be about how not to fail in Learning and Success.Paul Tough states,“Learning from failure is important” and I agree what Paul Tough states because When you learn from failing it can help you succeed more.In Paul Tough’s Perspective,“Success and Failure may be more closely linked” and I agree with his perspective because when you fail you need to help you to learn what you did wrong and succeed the next time.As claimed by Paul Tough,“We have to look at our successes for learning bad experience” and I agree with him because we do have to look to our successes and you can learn from the bad experience to succeed more.Paul Tough states,“failure would have been serials consequences” and I agree with him because when you fail there can be some serious consequences but, then you learn from it and succeed. In Paul Tough’s perspective,“Learning the bad mistakes can help you learn what went wrong” and I agree with his perspective because when you learn from your bad mistakes you can see what went
In the “Allegory of a Cave”, Plato describes the scene of an individual who is chained with other people. This individual is released from their “reality” to face the truth, and when this individual faces this truth, a great pain is sensed from their former reality being shattered by this new-found knowledge. Through the understanding of this new knowledge, this individual gains reason, and decides to attempt to share this new reason and knowledge with the others. But this individual must face the consequences of their choice; whether to accept rejection and hatred from the others or live in isolation with themselves with their own new-found knowledge and reason. I do agree with Plato’s Allegory of the Cave that sharing knowledge with others
In experiment 2, temperature was the factor tested to see how it affected the rate of reactions. Tweaking the method for the first experiment, the sodium thiosulphate were in three different temperature; one was placed on a hotplate and heated, another in an ice bath and the last was room temperature. This showed how the temperature of the solution can be an important factor when investigating reaction rates. Concentration of the reactants affects reaction rate by increasing the rate when the concentration is also increased. According to the collision theory proposed by Max Trautz in 1916 and William Lewis in 1918, for two molecules to react they must first come into contact with each other, called a collision. The molecules are more likely to collide if they
Stephen Frear’s film, My Beautiful Laundrette portrays the struggle of intersecting sexuality, ethnicity, class, race and power. Omar, son of a Pakistani immigrant, is attracted to Johnny, a white English male. Their attraction and the subsequent relationship is looked down upon, both in England and Pakistan. Omar works for his uncle who lets him take over a laundrette in London while Johnny is initially unemployed and eventually works for Omar. Together, they make the laundrette a successful business venture and a place where they can freely express their desire for each other.
In all fairness, Lance had asked Shiro to spar with him, so his current condition was to be expected, though certainly not wanted.
