Lies are like truths in disguise and I think it is acceptable to lie except it shouldn’t have a great outcome. A person should think about how their deceptions could potentially harm someone and most importantly the effects of it. In my opinion, little white-lies are fine to tell but if it is any bigger than that it shouldn’t be told. It’s always better to be truthful and honest, but every now and then if a person really needs to tell a lie, it’s alright as long as they know the effects that it entails.
In The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, lies were the root of all the problems in the book. I think the author chose the theme of lies to help young adults understand when it is acceptable to lie and when it isn’t. For an example, Amir lied to everyone who asked him what happened to Hassan the day of the Kite Fight. On that very day, Hassan was raped and I’m sure it was a terrible emotional experience for the both

Lies that are unacceptable in society are when politicians make these ‘promises’ to create a safer and efficient community for citizens votes when they don’t even uphold their end of the bargain. However, a lie such as if a person had to tell their friend that he/she can’t hang out with them on a certain day because another friend who is undergoing a lot of stress really needs him/her on that day is suitable in this situation. As long as the person tries to make it up to them, for an example reschedule it to a different day because something came up, it’s alright to tell the lie. The person’s intentions were to prevent both friends from getting hurt and being benevolent to the friend who really needs him/her the most. I myself have told a few lies to impede someone from getting harmed by something or someone and if the intention of lie is respectable and a person takes notice of how it will impact people around them, the lie is
“He asked me to fetch Hassan too, but I lied and told him Hassan had the runs. I wanted Baba all to myself.” (13)
There is something about the word dead that many people suddenly feel dread. It is just your usual English word and I guess the meaning is what scares most people. It is dead the unknown the mysterious and so on. In the old days in the American west or Wild west there was a man who was considered to be one of the greatest gunfighters. His name was “Wild Bill” Hickok and he met with death in Deadwood, South Dakota. There we have it perhaps he should never have gone to a town with a name like that.
Almost everybody can agree that lying is wrong, but are there any circumstances that make lying okay? In the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, a young boy in the 1840s runs away from home, and floats down the Mississippi River with a runaway slave named Jim. The two undertake a series of adventures meeting lots of new people along the way. Much of the story is developed through the elaborate lies told by Huckleberry, which both shape him as a character and make the reader feel a deeper connection to him. In contrast, the Duke and The King are con artists who take advantage of people to steal their hard earned money for their personal benefit.
I feel that telling lies is not acceptable for the following reasons. Lying is not the right thing to do in a bad situation. If someone is talking behind your back, you would want someone to tell you what they are saying. If that person lies to you, you think of a different perspective then of what the situation actually is. If you confront the person who’s talking behind your back and it turns out to be a different story, the situation is going to get worse because that person who told you about the
The book “ The Kite Runner” has a lot of themes to offer but each person experiences a different theme. The book is based on a man whose past contributes to everything his future has to offer. Every choice he has ever made has an outcome. Khaled Hosseini’s novel , The Kite Runner , teaches the reader that honesty is important in order to have an effective relationship through Amir lying on Hassan and Baba withholding information about him and Hassan that was important. My thesis supports the overall theme because there are lots of life changing, traumatic secrets that need to be told but aren’t told until it’s far too late. Based on the experiences of the book , you can manage to understand life changing events that create a whole new
The controversy over the topic of whether lying is sometimes, always, or never justified is complete nonsense. To say it is always or never acceptable would mean you’re not thinking about the situations in which we lie thoroughly. Simply put, lying can be sometimes acceptable when it brings good intentions.
A lie told to cover a wrongdoing has the ability to cause more life complications and hardships, and as shown in Khaled Hosseini’s 2003 novel The Kite Runner, lies told by the characters have shaped the development of the novel in a complex and intertwining way. The lie told by Amir about the stolen watch and cash has direct significance to prominent themes outlined in the novel: guilt and redemption. After being haunted by the secret and guilt for decades, Amir takes on the opportunity to redeem himself and “be good again” through finding Sohrab. He pursues a way that ends the cycle of lies and betrayals with his return back in Afghanistan.
A white lie derives from sympathy. It is told to avoid hurting someone’s feelings. We all believe this is better than telling the truth. But is telling a little white lie really the most effective option? Sometimes, we need to hear the truth. Ericsson says, “It is an act of subtle arrogance for any who decides what is best for someone else.” To avoid being honest with someone for the sake of their feelings is selfish. It does more damage than we think. People deserve to know the truth. So they are not misguided to a sense of false hope or confidence. This only leads to people over thinking and second guessing
In the Kite Runner, deception is one of the main plot points that improve the story and characters. Deception is used to progress the book so that Amir, the main character, travels back to Afghanistan after being in America and is where the most memorable things happen in the book. In the book the deception make the main plot points of the story, is the driving force for why everything is happening, and is what made Kite Runner good.
When telling lies you often wonder if people actually believe what you are telling. I have learned from my mistakes and it is so much simpler to just tell the truth. I know that not all the time you can tell the truth, but you should be able to draw a fine line of when it’s not okay and okay to lie. Little White lies as people call them is not always little, but lies like when someone asks if there hair looks ok and it doesn’t then you shouldn't tell them. It might hurt their feelings if you tell the truth. Other times you shouldn’t tell lies about things that could affect the outcome of things such as in the book “The Kite Runner”. Amir lies to his father about Hassan
Keeping this lie from Amir has had taken a toll on Baba. Baba distances himself even more from Amir because he does not know how to act in front of him. Baba and Amir ended up moving to America when things started to get pretty bad with their government, it was not safe anymore for them to live their. They ended up in someone's truck, and they tried to escape because the Soviets had invaded Kabul and it has become a war zone. They eventually made it to Pakistan, than about two years later move to Fremont, California. Baba got a job at a gas station, and Amir goes on to finish high school and then goes to college. Baba and Amir were at a flea market, and Baba sees an old friend, General Taheri. Amir catches sight of General Taheri’s daughter. Amir finally gets the chance to speak to Soraya but General Taheri turns down the
These white lies are often overlooked and shrugged at, when people should actually be more cautious because it can be effortless to tell a lie or not say the truth. Telling the truth may hurt someone, but you will be respected more for your honesty and have a chance to resolve an issue without having your character
The amount of adolescents diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Bi-polar disorder have significantly increased over the years. These disorders have mental strain and social effects to the individuals and leading to more intense cases later on in their life span. The adjustments to aging through adolescent life are significantly worse for those diagnosed with Schizophrenia then those with Bi-polar disorder, and as a result, lead to the unsuccessful productive adult lives then to come. From the studies done on young individuals diagnosed with these mental diseases the future affects are concrete and a chance for positive improvement is not likely. The symptoms of these two conditions are progressively worse when diagnosed at an early age. The social
Small businesses are now using online sites and social media for promoting their businesses. This makes it easier to reach more consumers and is cheaper, but at the same time exposes them immediately if someone has something bad to say. Some small businesses have failed from reputations, and some have saved their business from a bad reputation. There are many things that contribute to this such as social media, a recall on a product, or a bad online review. In today's society with access to small businesses online and a wealth of information, it is easy for a bad reputation to flood the web.
According to Robert Braul “Every lie is two lies, the lie we tell others and the lie we tell ourselves to justify it.” So, is it okay to tell white lies? Do you tell white lies for your own sake? Why do you lie even though you know that no matter how big or small your lie is, it is still considered as immoral? Well, according to an article entitled “Tell White Lies (Occasionally)” there are 3 possible reasons why people lie and I agree with the author. I agree with Donald W. McCullough that it is okay to tell white lies when we know that it isn’t the right time, place, and way to tell the truth that sometimes we lie to protect ourselves and not to protect other people, and that we should be careful with the words we say.
