Everything had began magnificently the day I attended the renaissance fair. It was the first time I’d ever been to any festival of the sort, and the air was full of magic. At exactly 10:30 in the morning, the ceremony began. The King and Queen presented themselves atop the castle’s balcony to address their people. As the beautiful royals welcomed us into their kingdom, my heart beat erratically, and I crossed the threshold with my breath held. There were so many events that I wanted to see, and activities I wanted to try; I couldn’t wait to get inside. I wasn’t just an ordinary guest, however, I had a job to do. Carrying my instrument lightly with one hand, dressed as a princess and feeling important, I walked proudly through the bustling
Newburgh Free Academy, NFA, located in the center of Newburgh, New York, a small city with a crime rate four times higher than the national average, exhibits an unequal distribution of the district’s budget across their various programs. NFA houses approximately 4,000 students and holds a wide variety of classes, athletic programs, and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. However, according to the district’s “Draft Budget Report for Fiscal Year 2017,” these programs do not all receive equal funding. There appears to be a large portion of available funds going towards the athletic program, while fine arts, language, and co-curricular programs receive little to no funding. The majority of public high schools across America, especially those located in overcrowded urban communities, experience a similar inequality. By dividing funds unevenly an inequality of opportunity is created, which leaves students who wish to join certain postsecondary school programs severely underprepared. Dr. Vivian W. Ikpa of Temple University sees this inequality quite often; she claims that, “inadequate funding made them [the students] ‘resource’ disadvantaged” (Ikpa, 467). When a school’s budget is being formulated, generally the last programs to receive funding are the arts, language, and co-curricular programs. The lack of funding in these programs leaves students unprepared to handle further education and prevents them from gaining valuable life skills. Thus, unequal distribution of

The Summer Leadership Academy will host the girls Monday thru Thursday of every week in July for summer support and extracurricular activities. Additional summer staff is needed to chaperone field trips, facilitate long-term projects and expanded learning (financial literacy, leadership development, college and career exposure, etc.) Eight graders with consistent participation will attend a weeklong college tour after they complete the program with their mothers. Since the majority of the families we serve are African American, this will be a tour of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. In addition, younger girls will be supported with their academics by attending a weeklong BrainCake summer sleep away camp. They will learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as other fun social capital building activities. DCPNI summer staff will support both activities
My mama has been working on the renaissance clothes all week, and now we are in the car. Driving to the Renaissance Festival. My sister was wearing an auburn red dress with pretty patterns and frills all over her dress. My mama was wearing a royal green dress with necklaces and lace that covered her. Papa was wearing a simple lords siamese, trousers, vest, cloak, and hat. While I wore a royal blue dress matched with a beautiful necklace, and my hair done on intricate braids as ribbons were also going through my hair.

The program is for struggling rising ninth graders. The program is also meant to help with the transition from middle school to high school by having math and English on a daily basis. The students get the extra help with work from teachers involved in the program and extra tutoring. Also they thoroughly go through lessons to make sure the student understands the work that is given.

Dear Mrs. Morales, this is Kylie Jones. I am in your 6th hour class. In power school the home cooking assignment was put in as a one. I'm betting that my bell-work is being put in as a one too, I left those assignments on the table in your class because, I was helping in the kitchen. I would really appreciate it if you could get those assignments changed and please tell my parents that the home cooking assignment was due this Friday (3/10/17) they don't believe that it was for the fact that you have it put in that it was due yesterday (3/9/17). Thank you.
It didn't have to be this way. Not long ago, I was a normal twelve-year-old girl: going to school, playing sports, and eating dinner with my family. However, one day everything changed. It was spring and I assumed it was just allergies. Week by week, my symptoms got worse and worse, until I began coughing blood. I was taken to the hospital to get my lungs examined. The tests came back and showed I had stage three lung cancer due to air pollution. We found out too late; treatment can only keep me here longer, not save my life. Cancer is spreading throughout my body and day by day will slowly kill me until there's nothing left . Now I'm just waiting. If pollution didn’t
The Renaissance began in Florence, Italy around the 1500’s to about the 1700’s. Florence, Italy was the mecca of this rebirth because at the time Florence was extremely wealthy and the people of the city had political freedom and those new ideals of the Renaissance were not being condemned in Florence as they were other cities. This was a time where the arts and the logic of one’s own mind was valued rather than criticized, the antiquated medieval ideals no longer matched the needs of those who were living during the early Renaissance. Eventually, a term for this way of thinking arose and was called Humanism, and what humanism is, is an ideology where humans can lead themselves to create a prosperous life and instead of leaning on supernatural forces for answers. Humanists believe that humans have enough logic to create conclusions themselves. This brand-new way of thinking caused a lot of controversy because it did question God’s ability and the church’s power, but the ideas behind it are still heavily used today, even in the 21st century. Humanism in the early Renaissance is important because it called for thinking with reason, it allowed an appreciation for human body and mind, inspired authors and caused a shift in power.
The Italian Renaissance was one of the most colorful, vital, and exciting times in history. Renaissance eventually comes from the French word "Renaistre," meaning "to be born again." The Renaissance was a revival or a rebirth of cultural awareness and learning among art, law, language, literature, philosophy, science, and mathematics. This period took place between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries. The Renaissance in Italy flourished in the 15th century and spread throughout most of Europe in the 16th century.
During the 1400s and 1500s in mainly Italy there was a major change that took place in all aspects of life. This was called the Renaissance and was a movement that helped give rebirth to culture and the arts. This movement went away from the medieval times that had forced a feudalist system on its people. The Medieval times were a dark period in European history that saw a major decline in arts and government. This declining can be attributed to a number of different reasons. One of which was the Bubonic Plague that spread throughout Europe and Asia and killed millions of its inhabitants. This was the final nail in the medieval coffin. Throughout these times the major focus for government and the arts were all religion oriented. The Black
