George Washington's Honor Program Analysis

As a student at the University of Southern California (USC) Rossier, my contribution to the professional and academic community is to increase critical thinking, develop knowledge and build curiosity and questions among my peers in an impactful manner. I can refine my skills as I perform in a challenging field that I am enthusiastic about. The USC Rossier educational program will guide me towards a fulfilling career that is enticing to my goal of providing a service that improves society and build upon other skills and abilities to create creative and innovative ideas in the field of education.

George Washington towered over men with decorum. Men followed him, not out of fear but out of respect and admiration. Washington was not a loquacious orator, but his silence spoke volumes. When he spoke, briefly but authoritatively, others listened. They knew he meant what he said because of his code of honor both on and off the battlefield.

National Honor Society is an organization that I am proud to a part of because it teaches the member to be a quick-thinker, intelligent, kind, responsible and considerate of others. It lets you reach out to foster children, the homeless, seriously ill, senior adults and those who are malnourished from lack of proper food and clean water. In National Honor Society, you can meet new friends and learn more about what it takes to be part of a team. As a member of this distinguished organization, I donated toys to the sick children at Children’s Hospital, participated in fundraisers like the selling of fancy mugs and cookie dough, helped clean and set up the Induction Ceremony of 2016, cleaned up after the Safe Trick or treat night in 2015, and

I have always found being inducted into National Honor Society (NHS) as great privilege. NHS requires certain qualities to be withheld by the members, and the organization is based on four core elements: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. In order to be inducted, an individual must demonstrate each of these attributes and must continue to exhibit these qualities after induction. This organization has kept me involved with my school and community and has also made me a better person.

As a highschool student in arduous honors classes, I am faced with challenges on a daily basis that might discourage me from achieving my goals in life. Because high school can be rigorous and stressful at times, I have realized how these hindrances should be the reason for me to persevere towards greatness and to learn who I truly am. A National Honor Society member showcases leadership, service, exemplifies positive character, and an outstanding academic excellence at the same time. I believe that I display these characteristics, and would be an asset to the organization .

National Honor Society Entrance Essay The National Honor Society was established to recognize and foster excellence beyond the classroom in areas of leadership, service and character. This organization is known for sharpening social and academic skills, and producing well-rounded scholars. Therefore, I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary students chosen to be considered to represent the Cleveland Heights chapter. I believe our high school’s chapter needs ambitious student leaders who will take initiative in the community and in the classroom, while also upholding the principles and ethics of the society.

According Washington’s story, I see that one of his greatest legacies in the years following the Civil War until his death was accomplishing a school at Tuskegee. The earliest day to establish school was not easy. First day living with people in the district. He discovered that most of them were colored people and they are very poor, but earnest in education. At that time, he knew his role in Tuskegee were giving people greater education and improving the poor land to become a wealthy land. Though establishing the school, Washington could teach and improve the people and the standard of living step by step. After reviewing the Honors college mission statement, I realize that I will make a great addition to GSU’s community of scholars. In order to be the best, I have always strive to achieve academic excellent and even going as far as dual enrolling at another college while in high school. I set my intellect and creativity as high priority in life because without knowledge, ideas and the ability to try, what would this world be? Understanding the importance of an education is the key to all success in this world.

Vince embodied many characteristics that made him who he was: thoughtful, caring, willing to help, active in the community, and hard working. I strive every day to exemplify these characteristics. Throughout high school, I have taken every opportunity to give back to my community through service projects while still being involved in numerous extracurricular activities and maintaining high grades to be worthy of scholarships like this one.

The revered and respected first president, George Washington, gave the US hope during one of its most difficult times. Using the events and circumstances of his life to learn and advance his position, he grew from humble beginnings into a legend. George Washington had a valuable, well-rounded education from ages seven to fifteen, studying all the subjects (Nevins and Graff). Due to his father’s death, George grew up under the supervision of his half-brother Lawrence at Mount Vernon, learning many lessons and developing thoughts, actions, and manners he used later in life (Nevins and Graff). He worked as a surveyor for his first career and learned the benefits of hard work, endurance, and resourcefulness (Nevins and Graff). After Lawrence died, George took over running the family plantation and found farming an honorable, delectable, amusing, and profitable occupation (Nevins and Graff). Standing six feet tall with broad shoulders, Washington cultivated a lavish lifestyle of dancing, cards, billiards, and hunting as a prominent and active member in his community and church (Nevins and Graff). George Washington started his military career in November of 1752, and in 1755 he took the position as commander of all the Virginian troops at the young age of 23 years (Nevins and Graff). Washington desired more honor and respect than he received, so he resigned from the military in the fall of 1758 full of frustration (Nevins and Graff). Through the completion of my graduate program in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, I have gained an immense amount of knowledge and a plethora of skills which I have used and found valuable in my seventh grade English classroom. My outlook on student learning and my empathy towards students has also been positively affected by the program. These learning opportunities have led me to become a better educator both inside and outside of the classroom.
