This letter is to express how thankful I am for being awarded the Margaretta Turpin Endowed Scholarship in Nursing. No amount of words can express my gratitude for your generous gift. With this gift I will be able to continue to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. A little about myself, I am from Sugar Land, TX, and I am the first in my family to graduate from high school and attend a university. What led me to pursue a career in nursing was my youngest sister. She was born prematurely and with several health complications that would affect her for the rest of her life. She spent half of her childhood coming in and out from Texas Children’s Hospital, so I grew up surrounded by nurses. Witnessing those nurses aid my sister in attaining her
My love for nursing began early in my life; in high school, my continuing desire to become a nurse resulted in my applying and being accepted to Midwestern State University. There, I received a BSN and became a registered nurse. My experience at Midwestern prepared me for a successful career by instilling confidence within me as I joined the workforce. As my experience grew and years went by, I became eager to further my education and pursue my master's degree. Then life happened: the two-legged version that requires love, compassion, energy, and time. Now that my child is in school, with the support of my family, I am ready and dedicated to become a family nurse practitioner.
My ambition is to graduate St. Francis College as a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s degree in the upcoming years. Although majoring in nursing will not be easy, I feel I am prepared for the challenge. At this time in my life I cannot see myself majoring in anything else. As a young girl, with a mother working in the medical field, I was always fascinated going to work with her. Working in a doctor’s office these past two and a half years myself has given me much experience with patients and has made it more to clear to me that this is what I want to pursue as a career. I wish to be a nurse because I seem to get a feeling of warmth and internal satisfaction when helping those in need. I have begun to learn that medicine is not the only cure for people’s ailments. It is the care they receive by those around them whether it is in a hospital, nursing home, or even their own home. This is where I believe that I can make a great difference in people 's lives by helping them recover.
I am writing this letter to thank you from the bottom of my heart for granting me the Robert A. and Mary Neal Culver Scholarship. I have been working very hard throughout my college experience and receiving this scholarship is truly a blessing and a reminder of how my hard work has paid off. The extra money will help pay off my tuition for next year which will greatly help ease the stress about paying for my junior year, and my mother and I are truly thankful for having the extra help. I will continue to work hard and achieve all my goals on the next couple of years, and I will never give up on my dreams and aspirations. Thank you for being a part of my success, and just know that your help is truly valued.

I have always believed in giving back to the community and in sharing my competencies and skills with others. My desire to help people in the field of nursing has powered my decision to take up a graduate degree in Nursing. Overcoming the many challenges in my life has helped me to believe that I can reach any goal I have set for myself, and one of these lifelong goals is to become a nurse practitioner and to obtain
A year has passed, and I am now beginning the second year of nursing, it is simply unbelievable! It is important for me that you will know that it was one of the most significant years of my life, an amazing experience. Besides the fact that I was studying and acquiring an education, I completed the year with success and made a lot of friends "of all sorts of colors", as they say, very good friend, which is something I didn't imagine, would happen. I feel so satisfied from the choice I made; studying at the university the subject that I love. It is true that the exam period was very difficult and intensive, but I am happy that I passed it with an 82.5 average, of course that there is always
I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude for being a recipient of the Mary A. and Frank J. Hren Memorial Endowed Scholarship. I am grateful for the financial opportunity this award has provided me. Attending Carlow University has been a dream that I would have never thought would be possible. Because of your scholarship, I am now in my second semester of the RN to BSN program.
My passion for healthcare cultivated because of my family. Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, I got an opportunity to volunteer helping around the nursing home where my mother worked as a licensed practical nurse. Looking back, on those experiences influenced my entire career in so many diverse ways. Learning ample amounts of wisdom from various honorable people. As a child I was always trying to help my mother, grandmother, aunts, my church take care of others in our family and the community. Once I graduated from high school I did not know if I was prepared for college. Likewise, I was not sure if I wanted to become a registered nurse and follow my mother’s footsteps. However, I did attend a technical training school and became a certified nursing assistant in 2005. During my five year gap year, I conducted research on several different areas and aspects of healthcare. Over the course of ten years I have had the opportunity to experience different segments of healthcare. From the different settings of healthcare, exploring different business opportunities offered in healthcare, and educational and technical skill trainings. These three topics really influenced my decision to pursue a healthcare career.
Growing up around three female nurses in my family has sparked an interest in working in the medical field; being the introvert that I am, I decided that it was best to become a medical records field technician in Surprise Arizona. Being a big part of my life has I was growing up, my Nana and my two aunts Phyllis and Theresa all took upon the same career choice and became nurses. On February 14, 2012 I went with my Nana and my sister to the nursing home where my Nana works and passed out cookies for Valentine’s Day. While I was passing out cookies with my sister, I was able to see how the staff interacted with the patients and helped them if was needed, it made me realize that one day I would like to work somewhere in the medical field, but
My initial interest in nursing began from my experience with my grandmother. It was in the fall of 2007 when my grandmother was sent to the hospital due to hypernatremia. My dad would pick me up every afternoon from school to visit my grandmother. I was given the responsibility to look after my grandma for nearly two weeks that includes in feeding her, assisting her, and other light duties. What fascinate me during my visits in the hospital were the nurses who assisted and took care of my grandma. They treated my grandma with dignity, kindness, compassion, courtesy, respect, understanding, and love. Their commitment, professionalism, dedication, determination and skills inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field. From that point, I realized that nursing is a field that enables people impact other people’s lives and make a difference. At 9 years old, being a nurse was a childhood dream and now I am at the point of turning my dream into reality. I want to study and pursue my dream registered nursing at Ryerson University that offers a nursing degree program that focuses on developing student’s critical thinking skills, ability to analyze reflectively and apply theory through community health focused practice making Ryerson one of the best nursing schools in Canada.
For as long as I can remember, or since the first time I met a nurse, I knew that was what I wanted to do. I have always held a great deal of respect for those who care for others in their time of need, and sacrifice their own emotional health to be strong for someone else, when they could not be strong for themselves. For several years my fear of being unsuccessful held me back from pursuing this dream, until I decided to finally take the first step and become a certified nursing assistant, and enroll at Clinton Community College to begin my journey to becoming a registered nurse. In the summer of 2014 I had decided to take control of my life and pursue my dream of working in the field of healthcare.
Ever since I graduated Luna National High School in 1987, I always wanted to be a nurse. Due to the high living expenses in the Philippines, I was not able to go to nursing school . It was expensive and my family was not able to make enough money to put me through nursing school. My sister was able to put me through college for an education degree instead because it much more inexpensive than nursing. In time, I moved to Honolulu,
Growing up my mother worked as a nurse which consequently built a strong respect as well as admiration for the profession. However, up until the day I left for college I never considered this career for me. As a last resort I made checklist to try and determine the major that best fit my aspirations for the future. Nursing immediately jumped out at me and since then I have been infatuated with the goal of becoming a nurse.
In order to learn more in depth about the characteristics that make up a successful nurse, I interviewed my female aunt who is a working, registered nurse in Arizona at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. She is forty-six years old and has been a registered nurse for the past seventeen years after graduating with an associate’s degree. My aunt has had the pleasure of working and gaining experience in the areas of pediatrics, as well as in labor and delivery nursing. Just like my aunt, I have always had a passion for children and babies and would like to see myself working in similar areas someday. Although, I am open minded about broadening my nursing abilities and gaining experience from multiple different areas of nursing. Branching out into different
I grew up in a low-income household and come from a Hispanic background. Growing up I saw so many people who lacked resources and education in health care. Seeing so many people with out care inspired me to pursue a career devoted to caring for others. I wanted to do something in my career that was challenging, interesting, and made a difference in people’s lives in a daily basis. I went into my nursing program with a philosophy that I would care for my patients and their families with compassion and educate them as much as possible as if they were my very own family
