The American Civil War impacted thousands of inhabitants of America and resulted as an explosion of opinions. Most opinions consisted of one of two schools of thought, the mindset of remaining one great nation or becoming two nations. The latter option encourages the thought process that most similarly resembles the southern mindset, natives to the southern states believed in their president Jefferson Davis while northerners supported their choice of Abraham Lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln was a great leader of change. Even though every leader of change possesses different qualities, in my opinion, I think a leader of change has to be confident, brave and determined. They should also should make the right decision and have good integrity. Abraham Lincoln is a great example of this. Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States. His presidency was during the civil war. Abraham was very confident and determined in every decision. For example, in the civil war, he presided over a country torn apart over slavery and led it through it.
Abraham Lincoln has been called the greatest president in all of American history. His principles were dedicated to the survival of the United States during one of the most gruesome and bloody wars in the country 's history, the American Civil War. During his presidency, he fought for the emancipation of slaves because he believed the institution of slavery was morally unjust. His ideals, which appealed to the founding principles of the country, "energized and mobilized" the union and kept it alive during the long months of the war. His leadership during those months changed the fairly new nation of America for the better.
Leadership is when someone leads or guides other individuals. when someone is a good leader it doesn't always mean that they are big and successful it doesn't necessarily mean that they make the group powerful. An example of good leadership is presidents like Lincoln, or Washington. Both Lincoln and Washington were great presidents Lincoln successfully defeated the civil war he also passed an amendment saying the slaves were free. Among the many great things that lincoln did he also was the country's leader. Washington didn't start out as a leader as did Lincoln they had to work to get that leadership. I think that someone is a good leader when they really have to work hard to become that leader. That is in most cases Hitler a man who was a dictator of the germans he as well had to work to get his position but he was not a good leader he killed many innocent jews just because he didn't like them. I think that a good leader has to do something good like as I said Lincoln did and he was a good leader but hitler did very bad things and I think that he was a bad leader.
I start this project on Lincoln’s leadership very reluctantly. I am a history buff and have always viewed his leadership through the eyes of jaded historians. They have portrayed him as a dictator, incompetent, and a buffoon at some points. After reading the Donald T. Phillips book Lincoln on Leadership, my mindset was totally changed. This book broke down four key areas that produced an effective leader in Lincoln. These areas are character, people, endeavor, and communication. I will be sharing a principal from each key area that I found important and then conclude with an overall thought.
Abraham Lincoln was a man of humble beginnings who, though self-taught, rose to greatness through the many leadership qualities that he possessed. Quality traits that Lincoln possessed were honesty, integrity and a great devotion towards the rights of the people. It was probably through his impoverished upbringing that he formed such a bond with common folks. Lincoln was able to show the country that an ordinary person, with strong character and integrity, was capable of inspiring others to greatness. His ability to communicate through dynamic speeches was inspirational to a country so badly in need of someone to return the country to the unity that it had once had. His commitment to the rights of individuals was a cornerstone of his
