Leadership: High School And Middle School Soccer Team

I am a leader when it comes to multiple things. In my choir, I’m the section leader for the baritones. In group projects, I often take charge of planning the project in order to ensure that it gets done in the best way possible. One of the most notable times I took a leadership position was when I volunteered with a group of my NHS peers at the Hot Chocolate Run in downtown Chicago. As more and more people began to finish the race, the lines where we were serving hot chocolate became really hectic and crowded. Leadership comes with great responsibility, I personally have never experience being a leader. However, I believe that I don’t need to be a leader to be successful, instead I am always willing to work hard with other people and achieve any goal as a whole(team). It is hard to get people to follow you, but an outstanding leader has no problem convincing their teammates to follow their actions. Softball, Volleyball, Basketball, Dance, Cheer and Track have all given me leadership experience. During sports you always need a leader directing you in the right direction. I have learned to fill that role by always encouraging my teammates and try to keep the environment positive. I have attended the FFA Leadership Conference twice now and I have learned to never give up and always put one hundred percent effort into everything I do. I have also paged at the Topeka Capital and in doing that I've learned to always be professional and that getting out of your comfort zone can lead to good things. I believe that I have acquired this trait over many years of working with many different kinds of people. I am a part of the Twister Leadership Team, a group that meets during school to help make our community and school a better place. I have taken responsibility of leading events during school, such as running assemblies and conducting projects. During school assemblies, the rest of TLT and I work to make the assembly fun for all of the students.

Leadership is a very difficult yet gratifying role to play in Garden City high school. Throughout the school day I feel I put in a surplus of effort in everything I do from homework to being kind, but a lot of the time I feel I am not noticed and that is what I think is the biggest challenge of being a leader; not being noticed but still going on in what you do, also whenever things go wrong the leader is the first to be blamed. So if your wanting to be a leader you're gonna have to be tough and confident.

Leadership is a difficult quality to obtain as a teenager. It takes many years to build up the courage to pull away from the crowd and walk as one person, not just part of the group. However, I am able to work as part of a team. As a senior at the Little Falls Community High School, I have strived to be my own person instead of being another person in the crowd.

I do not have to think I am a leader to be one believe it and it will happen. I would like to lead others in the right way to be successful as their leader. Being focused and passionate in what you do it will take you along way. Collaborating with people I would be leading is a great way to understand their mindset of thinking and what they want in life. Being a leader is being a role model and striving to make a positive impact on those around you. In order to be a successful leader, you have to put yourself second and your peers first. In my four years of highschool I have developed many characteristics that allow me to be a strong leader. I have found that being a leader is something that comes natural to me. I have found my self leading in many different situations. I have been a varsity baseball and football captain for two years. I have had to lead a team, and communicate with teammates and coaches. It was a really interesting event for me, soccer being a passion of mine. I attended a team meeting that is normally held between us the players and the coach where we get to talk together what the team goals are, what that still needs achieving and what changes we need to make. Believe me, being a leader is not an easy job. If you can accomplish all these things then you can be a true leader. From my own experience, being a captain is not easy. My personal experiences of leadership started when I was younger, roughly 7 years old, I was elected the captain of my travel soccer team. At the time I didn’t think much of it, nor did I have any extra duties that I was explicitly told that I needed to perform. Later throughout the season, I started to notice my teammates mimicking my styles and techniques and I highly enjoyed this feeling of being looked up to. I didn 't realize until years after that the recognition and pride I felt was leadership. This privilege of being captain was the first time I had realized that people weren 't necessarily following my actions because I was extraordinarily skilled, but because I provided this role model status with my confidence and encouragement. Being able to lead a group or someone is a very powerful action. Being a leader in general is very powerful. Leadership is an art that is painted, sculpted, and displayed in all sorts of ways. There are many different styles of leadership that correspond with different tasks. From transformational leadership to laissez-faire leadership, there are various styles throughout the continuum. A transformational leader is one of the best, more successful leadership style. When going down the continuum, the leadership styles only become less effective. Everyone also falls in distinctive categories when it comes to leading others. The leadership style that is displayed depends on the person leading and those who are being led along with the task.
