On Saturday April 29 in the downtown area of Las Cruces I went to the country music festival. The band I went to go see was the Eli young band. The band was American country band made of a lead singer who also played guitar, as well two more members playing bass guitar, and electric guitar, piano as well as a drummer. There was so many people to see Eli young band I was scared I was going to be crushed being so closed on the stage. I don’t remember the title of the first song they played but it was more of a rock country then regular country and I liked it. It was something different to hear. People assume all country sounds the same, but they really mixed it with more a modern day country. From the beginning the one the guitar had an amazing
The name of the band that I went to go see were called Rock Lobster. It is a band is made up of several people and may be accompanied by guest. The main names of the band are Stephanie Foxx, Jessica Jackson, Dallan Baumgarten, John Colby, and Gary Sanchex. They are a band that plays the most popular of 80’s rock music. I attended this event on June 5, 2016 at 7:00pm. It was located at in Scottsdale at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. The exact address is 7301 e Indian Bend Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85250. The instruments that were used during this event was a guitars, drums set, and a single voice. The set was very small, everyone played their instrument while the one main guy sang. All of the music that they played was very strophic. Some of the
On April 11th, 2017 in the Louis Armstrong Theatre, I attended the GVSU “University Band”. This up-beat ensemble lasted about 90 minutes; the talented students of GVSU’s university band joined together to perform multiple different songs ranging from a Waltz to a Dixieland Jamboree. All of the songs that the band played for the audience were all well-known, popular songs that they all enjoyed. Having the opportunity to attend this concert has opened new musical paths for myself and has allowed me to enjoy and kindly critique something that I perhaps would have never had the chance to otherwise.
On November 18, 2015, I attended a UAB concert involving jazz combos and a guitar ensemble. This concert was filled with amazing musicians, intricate solos, and thick harmonies. There were three jazz combos and one guitar ensemble; the first set was the guitar ensemble, which contained four guitarists and one bass player. The ensemble consisted of four songs: “Swing It,” a swing-style song; “Samba #1”; “A Child is Born,” a waltz; and “Bill’s Bay.” The main theme of “Bill’s Bay” was very catchy and memorable, and the ensemble’s most impressive player to me was Michael Galanti on the bass guitar. His solos involved precise pizzicato and quick movement that I have never witnessed in a bass player.
It’s amazing to listen to musicians who do not normally play with each other come together and leave the audience in complete awe. That is exactly what happened on the day of Thursday November 26th 2014. The Bill Crothers Varsity Winds comprised of grade eleven and twelve students along with a few, talented grade tens went to listen to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra play. We travelled via a typical yellow school bus that took us to Roy Thomson Hall where we went right to the top level and took our seats. The seating seemed rather helpful because from a distance you could hear every instrument when you focused on it. It was beautiful. The band presented well with their “Penguin” like attire that was kind to the eyes. They appeared very organized,
Some of the CHHS Theatre Department students were lucky to see Riverside City College production of The Addams Family on a school field trip October 20th. The Addams Family is a musical with music & lyrics by Andrew Lippa and a book by Rick Elice and Marshall Brickman. The show tells the story of Wednesday Addams' first love with Lucas Beineke and the way her family reacts to their relationship. All Wednesday wants is "one normal night," but her inherently unique family cannot give her that. And so, chaos ensues – entertaining chaos set to a catchy score.
Twenty One Pilots is an alternative hip hop band originated from Columbus, Ohio. The band consists of duo Tyler Joseph as the lead singer, and Joshua Dunn as the drummer. The band formed in 2009 and they have two self-released albums. They got their first big break in 2015 when their song “Stressed Out” hit number one on Billboard. The band has a very large fan base and it still continues to grow. Twenty One Pilots came to the Zoo Amphitheater in Oklahoma City on July 9, 2016. I went to their previous concert in Oklahoma City in October of 2015 and absolutely loved it. So my expectations for their 2016 concert were very high and they were not let down.
I attended a blues concert in Hayward and it was one of the most culturing experiences of my life. I learned a lot about the culture and context surrounding the blues music. I found the lyrics thought provoking especially, B.B. King’s “Why I Sing the Blues” sung by Billy Dunn. Prior to me attending this concert I hardly knew anything about the blues music or historical roots. I never listened to the blues before, so I am unaware of this type of music, but I learned a lot about this style of music and enjoyed it. I also learned about the impact Hayward had on the blues and blues musicians when African Americans migrated from the deep south to the then unincorporated area of Hayward, known as Russell city. Ethnically, the majority of the attendees were African American, the second highest ethnic group attendees were Caucasian. This makes sense, since the blues and jazz were developed in the south of the U.S. and is associated with Africans. For African Americans, the blues and jazz goes a long way back in history, more specifically their history. It is associated with African American history in America, as well as African oppression and liberation.
“I’ve got some bad news,” the director of our school play said. “Mr. Kupersmith is out sick so you guys are on your own.”

I grew up listening to country music since my mother loved it so much. It was her favorite thing to listen to when we would go on long road trips with my father and younger brother throughout the years. Unfortunately, since I listened to it so much, I starting disliking it when I became a teenager. I started believing that country music was only for “older” people. I also thought it was boring and wasn’t the “cool type of music” teenagers are supposed to listen to. I eventually grew out of that stage and started listening to country music again a few years later. The reason I started listening to it again was because of one amazing country artist. My best friend invited me to a Luke Bryan concert in Las Vegas in 2010. At first I was iffy about it since I wasn’t a huge country music fan like her, but then I watched some videos of Luke’s performances and he seemed like a very talented artist. I decided to give it a shot and go. What I thought was going to be an average concert, turned out to be the best concert of my life! Luke put on an amazing performance and touched my heart in so many ways. I pictured
Never could I have thought that my first concert experience was going to be in a college class, performed by various composers of classical music. During the concert, I got to listen to four performances. First, the Oxycotton was played by Tim Sanchez. Second, Samantha Post played Acht Stucke on flute, followed by Nicholas Gledhill, playing Blues and Variations for Monk on horn. Finally, the CSU Graduate Brass Quintet performed a piece named Misty. In this essay, I will share my personal experience of the concert and discuss the different elements of music seen in the different performances.
On the evening of August 11th, the remarkable trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith, an icon of today’s free improvisation, joined the New York-based quirky trio DarkMatterHalo for a concise performance at the East River Park Amphitheater in Manhattan, followed by the charismatic Nublu Orchestra.
A rock star is coming into town. It was meant to be a surprise. The Upper school held a contest for its students. The game is called “Guess The Mystery Celebrity.” The students were given the chance to find out who is coming to the school to open its new department.
On Wednesday July, 8 I attended a concert at the Mimoda Studio located in Los Angeles the concert started at eight o’clock. On that day there was a group of four Instrumentalists performing a cello concert. The performances consisted of acts of big composers such as David popper the cellist also Alexander Konstantinovich ,it last about an hour. The show did not include programs so I will have to go off my notes some of the pieces that were played for David popper were Serade, Ballet scene, Gavotte, and La Chanson villageoise. The pieces played from Alexander Konstantinovich were impatient, land of heroes. There were also some Armenian chants played from the medival times, that were either composed by Sahakdukht orkhosrovidukht.
The concert I attended was called the Faculty and Student Recital, which took place in the Cisco Auditorium on April 11, 2017. The music that was on the program was mostly what is called “classical” music, as well as a Chinese Folk Song, an electronic composition, and variations on an Indian Tala. In the classical pieces, the instruments that were used were the violin, the piano, the cello, and the oboe. In the electronic composition, the computer was used to make music. In the Chinese Folk Song, the piccolo was used to imitate the unique timbre of a Chinese flute. In the Indian tala, drums from Ghana were used to imitate the rhythm and sound of Indian drums. The piano, the violin, the cello, and the piccolo all originate
