Sitting in a car driving for hours leaves one with a rather limited source of entertainment. Books can be finished, batteries lose power, sleep varies in difficulty. Luckily, with some imagination and a glance out the window, a new world of one’s own design can form and melt away irritating boredom. The shores of Lake Superior in Marquette is one such place, a vivid landscape of sensory overload that soothes rather than agitates. It is easy to envision every sensation of standing on the beach, even from the cramped seat of a sedan. Ahead the sky is starkly grey, cut by cold blue splotches where the clouds have separated. The brightness strains the eye despite the muted shades, and the rare slices of sun bring relief as the warmth offsets
On a cold Thursday morning, school was in session but I was starting on my way to Lake Winnibigoshish. I was going up there with my five foot nine, one hundred forty pound dad and my five foot nine, two hundred thirty pound neighbor. We stopped in at the Senior Center for some donuts, and went to Holiday Gas Station for some coffee and a cold drink.
Red Lake Ontario a place that I’ve been But only in my dreams in the last year and ten It’s always been with the boys, mainly my son I invite you into my dreams because you’re my special one. The cabin on the hill faces north over the lake But as the sun set down theres not even a wake
While we sat in our rambling tan and yellow cabin among the trees at 416 Spencer Falls Lane at Big Bear Lake, we watched the gloomy rain fall all morning long. Finally, the storm passed and the dark gray clouds passed over, the sun shone brightly on the wet grass. Yes, the day soon was as pleasant as any other august day, of course we knew it was frequently the case with a warm summer rain. This time, however, the rain had swelled the river washed away our small wooded bridge. Elaine my youngest sister sat beside the washed out bridge, she was so unhappy because it was loss. It was then that a shiny blue convertible drove up beside her, the four of us, our names are: William, Martina, Ella and David, watched as the car approached, it was around
The day was chill and somber. Overhead was a gray expanse of cloud, slightly stirred, however, by a breeze; so that a gleam of flickering sunshine might now and then be seen a its solitary play along the path (159).
In the world are people that is difficult for them to work in the job that they have.
It was 6:00 in the morning on a Saturday. I wondered, “Why do we have to wake up so early?” Then I remembered.
A subdued accumulation of churning murky grey clouds presses forward from the eastern horizon and occupies half of the mid-afternoon 's sky. The sun 's blistering rays diffuse in the clouds and tinges the cloud 's outer edges with shades of crimson and wine. The lake 's clear, echoing plane beckon the luminance of the cloud 's striking blend of colors. Its stagnant nature furnishes a reflection of the full length of the radiant sky, down to the terrain 's low banking hills and grassy overgrowths within the fields.
We went in through the sliding glass doors that give on the living room. I slid the door shut on its track and paused for another look out. The silver veil was three-quarters of the way across the lake. It had resolved itself into a crazily spinning teacup between the lowering black sky and the surface of the water, which had gone the color of lead streaked with white chrome. The lake had begun to look eerily like the ocean, with high waves rolling in and sending spume up from the docks and breakwaters. Out in the middle, big whitecaps were tossing their heads back and forth.
Early mornings consist of donuts, tons of them. Everyone congregates on the porch or dock snacking and sipping at hot coffee. An early pontoon ride gets the day started. Upon return the kids flee to the cottage changing into their bathing suits, which is followed by racing down the hill towards the warm lake waters. This is a place where waves lap at the shore like a parched dog at water. Where the air smells quite fishy, but no one seems to mind. Seagulls kaw at each other, neighbors wave politely, and children squeal with delight in the shallows. We all laugh and talk merrily, boats rides fill up the day; only stopping for replenishments. Looking for something a little less relaxing? That can be arranged. The roar
I’m Exotic. My last weekend was interesting. On Monday our class had the presentation about the Great Lakes. We talked about the largest freshwater system of Earth. Canada has five Great Lakes. I learned how to save water and why it is so important for our lives.
Tonight the sky was clear, reminding me of a perfectly clear crisp winter night sky. The moon was noticeably absent, so the landscape was shaded in a deep darkness. Except for the city in the distance.
One Saturday on a weekend was a one day trip to Jackson Lake near Farmington, I was tired and the day was gloomy so, I decided to drown an ant for amusement.
" nature will bear the closest inspection. she invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain" ( Thoreau). The first thing which gives me peace is sitting at the lake, look at the dreaming of moving trees, and listening to amazing sounds of lake water and birds. As nature is the best company of all the time, so whenever I go to the colonial lake near my house, it gives some special effect on my mind because I forget my all tension and stress for few hours. For example, I just sit down there for some hours. Also, sometimes I lay down on the grass, closing my eyes and listening to the sounds of moving water. However, the blumy voice of birds makes a new tune in my mind and moves of water works refresh
The Minnesota lake country, this is a place of beauty, wildlife, family, friendship, and luck. I’ve made a lot of old and recent memories in the Minnesota lake country. It is one of my favorite places to go because a lot fun things I do during the year.
She looks back over to the horizon waiting, and just then the very tip of the sun peeks over the remaining clouds from last night. It is breathtaking, she concludes to herself. There is just enough clouds to make out the shape of the sun without hurting your eyes. But, they are in just the right place so that the light pouring out from the sun can be seen in
