Nature: The Colonial Lake And Its Effects On My Life

On a cold Thursday morning, school was in session but I was starting on my way to Lake Winnibigoshish. I was going up there with my five foot nine, one hundred forty pound dad and my five foot nine, two hundred thirty pound neighbor. We stopped in at the Senior Center for some donuts, and went to Holiday Gas Station for some coffee and a cold drink.

: Larchwood Lake may not ever be the same again. The story about Larchwood Lake is not that uncommon. Without doing extensive research into possible things that could occur by lowering the lake level, the Larchwood Lake Homeowner’s Association destroyed the very thing they were trying to protect. Carelessness and poor planning are not the only root causes however. There are a number of reasons that led to the degradation of Larchwood Lake that happen to relate to more macro level environmental issues. Those reasons are poorly designed environmental policy created by the E.P.A., poor understanding of lake ecology by the managers of the land, and false confidence in poorly planned ideas. By looking at how these factors contributed to the degradation of the lake, hopefully we will be able to make more ecological sound decisions in the future.

“If we do decide to produce the 10- and 12-inch pipe internally, it could solve our overstaffing problem,” Mark Rubin, owner of Great Lakes Pipe & Tube, Inc. (GLPT), remarked to Vinny Patricko, the plant manager. “I’m reluctant to lay anyone off or even cut back hours. In order for a revolution to be successful, there are many components and stages that play into it. Matter of fact, George Didi-Huberman, the author of the article Uprisings argues that there are five different parts: elements, gestures, words, conflicts, and desires. Each part is unique and significant in its own way. This can be noted from analyzing different revolutions and rebellions throughout time and the outcome of them. Agreeing with Didi-Huberman, I will provide examples of each division and demonstrate how each one is necessary.

Lake Nipissing was once known as a prime location for dropping a line through the ice and pulling up some monster walleye. But over the last few decades more and more ice anglers have been flocking to these waters to try their luck at pulling up a one of these monsters. unfortunately it appears our luck has run out, or not so much our luck but the fish in the lake.

“Once More to the Lake” by E. B. White is about a man who decides to take his son on the family vacation to the lake he took with his father when he was a child. During the essay, the author reminisces on his trips to the lake during his youth and tells the reader about how things have changed. The author uses wonderful detail and at some points in the essay feels as if he is a boy again standing in his son’s place with his father next to him. The author shows the readers he is a man who enjoys time with his family and cherishes his memories at the lake by expressing how he values the way things were in the past, and the joy that he experiences at this lake with his family.

Lake Erie is thriving biologically but not in the way one might think. It can be concluded, based on the writing of Mary Pat Fisher, Living Religions (2014), that the most significant example of Exodus was the departure of the Israelites from Egypt. The Israelites were under the control of the Pharaohs and lived a life of slavery. God chose Moses to lead the Israelites to the promise land. It is said that they were guided by God as he sent clouds in the day and fire by night in order to lead them out of slavery. They were lead to the red sea where Moses parted the sea allowing the Israelites to cross to freedom and closing on the Egyptian soldiers that followed.

“On Noise”, by Seneca, is a literary composition in which Seneca discusses the pursuit of one’s peace of mind. Throughout his work, Seneca discusses all of the possible distracting sounds that he was able to endure in order to achieve tranquility in his head. He also discusses that idleness due to rest and retirement does not necessarily help us achieve peace, but instead can make us feel anxious. Seneca eloquently explains how outside disturbances are not the reasons for our inability to discover peace, but rather it is our emotions in turmoil that block our attempts at finding peace. Seneca begins the essay with an eye catching statement that everyday people can relate to.

There once was a boy named Jonathan (Jonathan Mcslurre, Jonny for short) and his family, ( including his parents, two sisters, and three brothers) every summer would all go rent a lake house. The lake house was secluded, relaxing, and quiet, mostly because it was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a forest, but nonetheless everyone enjoyed it…well everyone except for Jonathan.
