Nora Helmer and Kristine Linde, both characters from A Doll House, are similar in more ways than not. A Doll House was written by Henrick Isben in 1727. A Doll House is mainly focused on the actions of Nora Helmer who has a long hidden secret from her husband and presently being blackmailed with it. Nora has an old classmate visit her named Kristine Linde to whom she tells her secret to, the only person. Even though Kristine and Nora are separated by years in age their hopes and desires are all to familiar.
Although both situations were different as well as circumstances Nora and Kristine were forced to ask another for help. This action shows humility in both women humbling themselves to ask fed help in their time of need. Nora had just given …show more content…

In act one while speaking about the loan Kristine says Nora is “like a child” (Isben 1733). Nora can be viewed as the child who ran away, tossed away her family as though they were nothing. “Putting herself outside society, inviting insult, destitution and loneliness” (Forward). Nora's decision was by no means illegal, however poorly viewed. Kristine comes across as the older wiser sister who seemingly makes all the right choices and who will always be there for you no matter what. Even though she doesn't agree with Nora's choices she still helps her just like a big sister or mom. The bond between these two character is evidently in the last paragraph of the last act in which Nora tells her husband that she will be entrusting her belongings to Kristine.
A Dolls House is a complex play with many layers and many ways to interpret them. Parts of the play are relevant in today's society such as self gratification. Hiding things from a husband or wife even a partner is greatly frowned upon today.
