Ms. Khali is positioning herself on the program based on the logic and supportive studies she did from the published journals of, Journal of Applied Psychology and the Leadership Quarterly. She concludes that based on both studies, they show that personality traits can predict leadership and you can hire the leadership based on this verses investing in a very expensive training program.

I am writing from the Youth and Teen Unit of the City of Daly City Department of Library and Recreation Services. Every summer, there is an opportunity for teens in 8th - 12th grade (ages 13-18) to join our Volunteen Leadership Program (VLP). This program runs in conjunction with our Summer Youth Recreation Program (SYRP), which caters to children (ages 6-12), giving positive and exciting social diversions through recreation. Volunteens work side by side with our Recreators at a SYRP site, giving them opportunities to give back to their community and earn service credits for their school (if applicable). Furthermore, Volunteens learn life skills such as: team building, effective communication, leadership roles, and how to be a positive role model to the youth. Our aim is to prepare youth in our community to become future Recreators in our programs.

| The process for the development plan was firstly to research and gain as much information on the courses to make sure they are current and meet my needs and personal Goals. Once this was satisfied i need to look at when and how i was going to complete the courses, a time line and getting the internet installed at my home address was done. Also an interview with the funds/account manager to release the funds to pay for the personal development courses. I had to justify why i wanted to do this course and what benefit to the organisation this would create. I also had to show the course was current and provided the right qualifications.The impact on organisational objectives was positive. Personal improvement on understanding management and leadership will enhance my coaching of junior and senior instructors in leadership and my ITQ skills have already improved to make work more efficient when using IT equipment like power point etc.Reviewing what i have completed is positive and my personal plan is constantly being updated as more of the courses are completed. A wise man once said; “flat terrain never made a skilled soldier.” As you progress through your career and advance your knowledge of your tradecraft you must learn to adapt. Having served on a Brigade Combat Team and a Division Geospatial Information and Services Team I felt ready to serve as a Squad Leader and Senior Geospatial Engineer Sergeant within a Brigade, but nothing could have prepared me for the challenges I would face serving as a Senior Geospatial Engineer Sergeant on a Combat Aviation Brigade’s Geospatial Information and Services Team.

What defines a leader? One may say a leader is a person with many titles that distinguish them as having an important role. I however see a leader as much more than a title but rather as a person who makes an impact. A leader in my eyes is one who is an inspiration, shows care for the position they have, is determined, and a team player with empathy and compassion towards all. As future pharmacists, it is of the utmost importance that these qualities carry into the profession so that we may become a better provider to our patients and a more trustworthy part of the healthcare community. With the various leadership roles throughout my life both in the community and on the campus of MCPHS University, I have strengthened and developed the qualities of a leader that make for a future pharmacist ready to improve the profession for the better.

During my research a lot of leadership and management theories I have read, watched and listened to in various fields have lead me to believe most come to the same conclusion. I have taken a wide range of examples which I feel to be the most relevant to me and my role.

Through this program I would be able to improve on my leadership and people skills, giving the real experience that I would be getting through this program. The program offers a lot of things that I would be able to use in the future to get my foot through the door. I like this program because it offers many aspects that can help

So far, I have altered how meetings are conducted from last year so that the student administration has more control of communicating ideas to the members. Later in the year, I plan to incorporate additional volunteer opportunities and I want to have more group conversations with the members to hear their ideas and try to merge those ideas into positive changes that can be made. This leadership opportunity is starkly different from that of coordinating a 5k. Being the president of NHS has given me additional exposure to public speaking skills, decision making skills, proper ways to conduct meetings, and ways to present myself professionally. Despite their differences, these leadership opportunities have helped me advance myself in my journey to accomplish my goals. The skills I gained and refined from these opportunities will undoubtedly assist me when trying to procure grants, build connections, and become a research team leader.

Throughout my time as a young adult I have had countless amounts of people tell me that they see me as a leader. They told me that I have the traits and the skills of someone who can have success in leadership positions. Truthfully, I never really understood what they meant. I knew that I was a good public speaker, but I never really understood what else I had. In high school I was always put in leadership positions whether it was an officer of the National Honor Society or captain of my sport teams, but I never really understood what drove me to attain those positions. I continued my quest for leadership positions in high school with every student organization I joined. Whether it was Pi Kappa Phi fraternity or Dance Marathon I felt the need to prove to others that I can more than just a member, but a leader. It wasn’t until I took this class that I truly understood what made me a leader. Because of this class I was able to better understand what are my leadership traits, my leadership styles, and how I use those in order to attain and succeed in leadership positions. Throughout this paper I will explain how Career Leadership Academy allowed me to realize what made me a leader and analyze the ways to improve at my future leadership positions.

In Phase 1, pre-training, Campbell’s CEO Institute teaches participants about leadership, formulating ideas and experiences and take time to reflect on what they have learned and apply it to all aspects of their lives. As the CEO, Conant was a motivator, “Doug is personally involved in all aspects—developing content, teaching, communicating with class members, and sharing lessons from his more than 30 years in business…….He’s all in. An active instructor, he’s fully present during the entire two-year journey” (Reardon, 2011). The program is developed internally which helps employees can build on their skills. The Institute accepts 20-24 participants per year and they must be nominated by their unit president or functional leader (Newell, 2011).

NEW Leadership participants are expected to attend all program sessions and stay in the residence halls during the entire program. To achieve full impact of the program, participants are expected to attend and actively engage in all scheduled actives and sessions.

Leadership development plan is only practical like the theories behind the idea. Basically, before a person plan, one must know and understand the mission to be accomplished. Good theories are significant and logical and important to comprehend that many accepted leadership principles are difficult to integrate an actionable behavior. A leadership plan helps in understanding and enhancing to lead organizations, employees and groups. The most valuable skill for a leader is the capacity to manage their individual learning. A highly motivated and principled person can attain a great degree of understanding, when they form a leadership plan. The document needs to be written down and be accessible and accommodate new insights. Preparation of a leadership plan has to take into consideration the first plan being a rough draft.

When I started the course I was excited to learn different qualities as like leader the assumptions was there will be having some exercises to buid some leadership qualities which I did not have. I assumed that I will learn how we can motivate others and some special capability how we can develop in myself like great leaders and as I assumed I get same thing that great leaders are not born with leadership skills ,they develop that skills .

~ In an effort to personally improve, I have sought out an external professional development and leadership training program. The NASM Fellowship engages professionals in the OST field in a process of leadership development where they learn to reflect on, study, improve, and assess their work with a view toward improving its quality and impact. As I seek to broaden my role as a leader at Build, I believe this program will allow me to expand in the areas of program design, staff training, and
