Many people have a person that they look up to and who encourages them. It's someone who I think doesn't give up and gets back up when they fall down, who has an impact to other people around them and they work for what they have earned. A person that is a role model to me is a man named Kobe Bryant. He is a basketball player that accomplished many things in his career. He was also born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Biography Today 44). He is someone who overtime has shown persistence and courage throughout his career in basketball. Kobe Bryant was a role model and inspiring basketball player that had a great legacy in the NBA. Some people have a mindset that makes them say I was born to do this. Kobe had that mindset …show more content…
One of the things that inspired him was how much he loved the sport. Kobe Bryant said, "It's the enjoyment of the game and the love of it. Then it's the low hanging fruit of responding to this challenge. I mean it's right there, it's very easy to get me going" ("Kobe Bryant Best Motivational Speech"). Another factor of what inspired him was his willingness to become the greatest which encouraged him to do better each time. "That's how I would think everyone would go into it. You want to be the man, you know, not the best of the moment, but the best who ever set foot on a basketball court," said Kobe Bryant (Biography Today 54). Kobe brought out the best in people and he wanted to have a positive affect to the people around him and supported him in his life. His goal was to be one of the greatest, but he also wanted to influence people. One of the motivational things that he said was, " We realize the most important thing in life is how your career moves and touches those around you and how it carries forward to the next generation. You realize that's what makes true greatness" ("Kobe Bryant Interview"). These are the things that kept him from giving up through the obstacles that he
Kevin Wayne Durant is a professional American basketball player, and an amazing athlete for the Golden State Warriors. Durant was born on September 29, 1988 in Suitland, Maryland. He grew up as one of the four children in his family, along with his mom and dad. As a young basketball player, he played for multiple different Christian teams/leagues. After high school, he only played one year of college basketball at University of Texas at Austin, before heading straight into the NBA as a star player for the Seattle SuperSonics. Kevin Durant is a role model in athletics through his actions as a professional basketball player, a leader, and his charity work.
However, Spike Lee captures Kobe as completely human, prone to minor mistakes, throughout the film. For example, when talking to his teammates on the bench versus the Spurs he says, "Hey Pau, my fault I thought you had a quick shot right there, that's why I threw it back to you" (34:12). Kobe not only admits to his mistake, but he explains his thought process when he made the wrong pass earlier in the game. Candid interactions like this allows the viewer to relate to Kobe, as his humbleness and composure often makes the viewer think twice about who they're watching; is it one of the greatest basketball players ever or just an ordinary dude? Later on, Kobe explains that post-game inters are particularly tough because he's always "out of breath." Once again, the viewer is surprised with another admittance of mortality, unlike the god-like status that he typically carries. By providing an eye into Kobe's private conversations in the locker room and on the bench that viewers otherwise wouldn't witness, the viewer is able to relate to Kobe.
Chapter 1- Overview Born August 23, 1978 in Pennsylvania, Kobe spent the first years of his life living in Italy with his family because his dad Joe “Jellybean” Bryant played in the Italian basketball league. Kobe’s dad also played in the NBA for 8 years, he was a very good basketball player. Kobe attended Lower Marion High School where he made really good grades and showed smarts on his SAT scores, but after all his basketball success and school smarts he decided to skip college and go right to the NBA. 1Kobe could have easily gone to college, he broke Wilt Chamberlain's scoring record in high school and Kobe was very smart.
If anybody had inspired Kobe I think it would have been his dad. His dad inspired him because when he saw his dad play it inspired him to work and play basketball too.(Biography)People want to be like him because they looked at his achievements and hard work .He inspires me because the stuff he did in his career was amazing. A well known athlete had many fans following him.His name is Kobe Bryant. Kobe was famous for his basketball skills. He was exciting to watch.
Kobe bryant was such a inspiration for me. So many people loved basketball but as soon as kobe hit the court, It was such a different era. Basketball became more competitive and more fun to watch. Kobe bryant even held open his own foundation to help kids in need, almost everyone looked up to him almost no one on any basketball team hated kobe. Some basketball players even looked up to him.
As the core player in their team, they are always responsible to take the last chance to score that will determine the results of games, which is called Game-Winning shot. According to a statistic by ESPN, Kobe has made 36 Game-Winning shots in his career while both Lebron and Tim have made 23 Game-Winning shots (Abbott, 2011). It is not difficult to conclude that Kobe has the dominance to determine the result of games, especially during the last few minutes. Therefore, Michael Jordan, who has been called “the god of basketball”, claimed that he loved watching Kobe’s game and Kobe is the only one deserved to be compared with himself (Freeman, 2012). It definitely shows that Kobe is the greatest in 21st century because of the praise from “the god of
Competition is what brings individuals together deciding who the best in the event is; one of the most fierce and competitive events in America is basketball. The official league in America for basketball is called National Basketball Association (NBA) which only drafts the best basketball players in the world; there have been many players in the NBA, but none other like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant who are future Hall of Famers. The perseverance of Kobe substantially overcomes LeBron James’s work ethic, leading Kobe to become the best basketball player of all-time. Titling an individual “The Greatest of All-Time” signifies the best basketball player and role model, which Kobe Bryant achieved over LeBron James from a dedicated work ethic, valuable awards, and a courageous attitude on the court with the motivation of winning. Deciding if LeBron James or Kobe Bryant is better, is hard to interpret considering both men have vast achievements from their basketball careers.
He walks on the court telling himself he is the best. He truly believes his is the greatest of his generation. I remember the first time I heard about Kobe Bryant. It was in 2006 after one of his games. January 22nd, 2006 Kobe dropped 81 points in one game on the Toronto Raptors.
When someone says “role model” who do you think of? For me personally it would have to be someone who has gotten through struggles and gotten to where they are through hard work not just having everything handed to them. A role model in my life would also have to be someone who is a positive influence on me whether he/ she is on or off the field, court or rink. After what I had just said in the sentence before my role model would probably be an athlete considering that I love all sports and hope to play in college and maybe even beyond that. My role model and someone I aspire to be like would be Isaiah Thomas. Especially after the playoff run Isaiah has led the Boston Celtics through right now.
LeBron James is my role model because he is the best basketball player of all time and he is the reason basketball is my favorite sport and why I practice every day and want to get better.
Michael Jordan had a passion for Basketball. It was not something he did to fill up his spare time; it was a goal that he knew would be his channel to influence the world. When we follow our passion, we would paint the world in very bright colors. It is important to know that our passion is our DNA, which would be the channel through which we make a mark in our world. Michael Jordan’s passion still speaks because he has influenced many generations of young people in the game of Basketball.
First, a list of his accomplishments. Kobe was drafted out of highschool at the age of seventeen, broke into the league by winning the Slam Dunk contest in his rookie season, and by age of twenty-five he was a three time world champion. He was the youngest person to be named a NBA All-Star at the age of nineteen. The combination of his talents with the talents of Shaquille O’Neal was the greatest “one-two punch” of all time. That is an objective fact. Shaq himself has even admitted that had the duo stayed together after the 2004 season, they most certainly would have gone on to win additional world championships, but Kobe didn’t need Shaq. When it was all said and done, Kobe ended up with five rings to his name to O’Neals four - all five with the Lakers I might add.
Bryant’s accomplishments, competitiveness, and work ethic is very inspiring to the fans of sport. Playing for one of the biggest franchise team for 20 years and winning five championship is something no other player has done except Kobe Bryant. Bryant has also maintained his high level performance in the most competitive league by spending time on his craft for many hours and extending his time on recovery by icing and playing less minutes during each game. One of the most inspiring moment in Bryant’s career is him coming back from torn achilles during the game against the Golden State Warriors in 2013. Bryant tore the tendon as he fell from getting a shooting foul, he stayed on the court and made his two free throws which led to a remarkable win. His eager to win a game is ambitious than any players. At the age of 34, it is very difficult for top athletes to come back from serious injury but Bryant never gave up so he embraced his injury to put himself through a very intense rehabilitation to bounce back from his step back. In the article “Kobe Bryant: I inspire myself by inspiring others” Kobe Bryant stated “ when people say you can’t come back from that…. I’ve had those doubts about myself but i’m not gonna cower to those doubts. I’m not going to be scared” This quote demonstrates how inspiring Kobe is because his willingness to fight back his serious injuries and embracing the fear that is created by others and
A trainer for the Team USA basketball program once described how Kobe Bryant practiced deliberately until he made 800 shots in the morning. Although his other teammates were practicing as well, Kobe practiced more hours on specific skills to become an elite player. Similarly, Malcolm Gladwell, who is the founder of the 10,000 hour rule, believes that to be an expert on something, it requires 10,000 hours. This suggests that Kobe practiced to be the best basketball player in the world. If I were to be a NBA player like Kobe, I would need to practice playing basketball for 10,000 hours along with developing teamwork and fundamental skills.
