Derrick Rose proclaimed that the New York Knicks would be a super team. Doubling down on that statement a month later. But this was all preseason hype. A new employee in a new city, looking to show how much he believed in his new team and teammates. As a Knick fan, I was excited to see that kind of boastfulness coming from a NY Knicks point-guard but I was also highly skeptical. So, after 20% of the season logged, where do the Knicks and Rose's prediction stand?
After a tough road loss to the Hornets on Saturday night and a tough loss at home to the Russell Westbrooks on Monday, the Knicks stand at 8-9 before heading into a home and home against the Minnesota Timberwolves. They're middle of the pack in other categories but this assessment is more of an eye test. Rose and Melo have never been known as defensive players but they are trying. They have picked up their intensity on the defensive end. Courtney Lee and Noah add some energy and decent defensive skills that add to the overall team D which can be contagious. There have been stretches during games where they feed off of each other's energy on the defensive end, which translates into positive offensive positions. They are playing with a sense of urgency that I haven't seen in awhile.
4) Brandon Jennings - Having a legit starting PG is crucial to being competitive in the NBA but having a legit backup PG can lead to success into the playoffs. (Ask the Warriors). Brandon Jennings has been the heart of this team. Every time he comes off the bench the energy and flow of game changes immediately. Coach Hornacek needs to find better combinations of players to have on the floor with Jennings. He constantly wants to push the pace, which is a great change from the slow it down game that Melo and Rose want to
While this is a team moving to a new city that recently hired a new head coach, there are several intriguing defensive pieces for Bradley to work with.
The Heat was once a dominating force in the league for the past few years. From 2010-2014, led by the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, they build the best trio combination in the league. They've been in the NBA Finals for four consecutive years and won two championships during those times.
Like I mentioned earlier they have 2 rings in another league, and 3 in the NBA. They have appeared in the NBA finals 6 times. The team has 9 conference finals, 7 division championships, and 21 playoff appearances. There best season occurred in 2015-16 going 73-9, and there worst being in 2000-01, going 17-65. In the 06-07 season, the Warriors team none as "We Believe" made a huge mark in history, coming in as the 8th seed in the playoffs, they beat the 1st seeded Mavericks in the first round. This was a huge accomplishment, seeing that the warriors hadn't made the playoffs in a very long time. They ended up losing in the second round to the Jazz, but they we're still noticed as a team that believed. Along with team success, they also have had individual success. GSW has 17 Hall of Famers. They have won coach of the year 3 times, Most Improved 2 times, R.O.Y 4 times, D.P.O.Y once, and MVP 2 times. (Both were Stephen Curry, 2 years in a row.) When winning the finals, their MVP's were Rick Barry in 75', Andre Igoudala in 15', and Kevin Durant in 17'. But to have great success, you need good staff and
The Los Angeles Lakers look to avenge a 119-101 loss in Denver. The main thing stopping the purple and gold from winning is their defense. The Lakers have given up an
About a month ago, the Portland Trail Blazers had one of the best starting lineups in the league. They were young and rising and a perennial playoff team. Fast forward a month and the Trail Blazers are without four of their five starting players. Nicolas Batum, Wesley Matthews, Robin Lopez, and LaMarcus Aldridge are no longer with the team.
The Toronto Raptors, while not to be confused for a title contender just yet, once bolstered a defensive unit capable of shutting down the league's elite, finishing 2013-14 ranked ninth in efficiency at 102.4.
One indication as to why the Chicago Bulls are the worst franchise in the NBA is their in-game performances so far in the season. A great way to find out the quality of the team is by looking at their game statistics. Sadly, the Bulls rank usually at the bottom in most meaningful statistics. One offensive statistic is called true shooting percentage. True shooting percentage is
He is only averaging 9.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, but the energy he gives the Sixers cannot be determined by numbers. Saric and Embiid are having great rookie seasons that are making players like TJ McConnell and Robert Covington play better.

When Anthony Davis has been healthy, he has given fans a vision from the past when legendary centers were the conquering giants of the NBA. Davis’s point totals per game have increased every season, finishing fourth in points per game behind three electric backcourt players.
People might think that the 76ers are the laughing-stock of the NBA, however, the 76ers have more championships than twenty-four current NBA teams. The history is occupied with amazing moments and tremendous players such as Allen Iverson, Julius Erving, and Wilt Chamberlain. The 76ers haven't won a championship since 1983, however, this team has been indestructible in the effort they give every game.
They blew the team up in the 2013 offseason and took the first step into a rebuild with a dismal follow-up that saw former fan favorites Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green get dealt for draft picks (and Jae Crowder). The following season, they overachieved and snuck into the playoffs, only to be blown out by Cleveland in 2014-15. After some more shuffling of the roster, they played a competitive series the following year as the fifth seed, where they lost 4-2 to Atlanta, but stole Horford from them in offseason. Now they have reached the conference finals and the only way to go for this team is up.
What kinds of fan are you? In regards to the kind of fan I am, I would say that I am a die hard and passionate fan. With both of my teams, I care about how they are performing record wise. Every season, win or lose, I generally like to watch their games on a regular basis. I show loyalty to my team, especially the Knicks even when they lose a lot of games.
Alright fantasy basketball fans it’s time to for my latest installment of my GF2 team previews. In my latest NBA preview we’re going to take a closer look at a very intriguing team, the New Orleans Pelicans. New Orleans made waves last season and are expected to be even better this year. Star power forward Anthony Davis is by far my favorite guy this year for fantasy, so we’ll stray away from discussing his absolute greatness. We’re going to look at three guys who I have rostered over the last few years who all have tremendous upside.
Since entering the league in 2012, Andre Drummond has evolved immensely as a player. When he entered the league, Drummond was a liability on both ends of the floor- showing an inability to play efficiently on either end, but now, four short years later, Drummond is absolute force on both ends of the floor.
