I believe that Kiss is one of the most influential bands of rock music of all time. They started as a small band coming out of New York and many people didn’t understand why they wore the makeup. My dad owns most of their albums, so when I was growing up, Kiss was the only band I listened to. Therefore, I don’t really have a particular album that I like over the rest because I like most of them. They always tried to be the band that they hadn’t seen when they were growing up. Destroyer was the band’s first released album after Alive and was needing a lot of work in order to top it. It was originally just an experimental album, but ended having three of the most popular songs the band had written. The album was released after the album Alive and it was going to be hard to top it. The band knew they were going to have to come up with new hits in order to top the others. Destroyer was released in 1976, and had three of the top singles the band had ever had including “Detroit Rock City”, “Shout It Out Loud” and “Beth”. These songs stared out as experiments, but quickly worked their way into being great songs for the fans. The band had originally put the song “Beth” on the B side of the album because they didn’t think it would be a hit. The song was …show more content…
The song can be listened to no matter what mood you are in. Everyone can relate to this song because all you want to do growing up is having a good time with friends. It is one of the best songs that the band ever came out with. The song is received very well by the fans and is one of the most popular. “Shout It Out Loud” is just like “Detroit Rock City” and is played at most of the concerts, but is usually a song or two after “Detroit Rock City.” These two songs are probably the best way to get a concert going and getting the fans involved. I can listen to these songs and can just feel the energy of what it would be like to actually have been
Their first release is a “self-titled” EP with five songs on it–with all them being sort of different, but cohesive; and so there might be something for every indie-lover. My personal favorite is track 3 “Fishes”. Something about that opening guitar line takes me back to the days when I would pull obscure albums
Van Halen was the quintessential 80’s party band before the 80’s were even a thing. Runnin’ with the Devil is a biography of the band, Van Halen, from their start as a band with a record label up until the departure of David Lee Roth, their frontman, in 1985. So far, the book has looked into their start as a backyard party band in Pasadena, California, with Eddie Van Halen, a master on guitar, his older brother, Alex Van Halen, the drummer who was the backbone of Eddie’s riffs, Michael Anthony, the bassist who brought a jazzy tone to their songs, and David Lee Roth, the frontman who brought the California to the band. Back then they were drawing in crowds of at most 300 people. Eventually, they were discovered by Warner Brothers Records, who
It is hard to imagine Van Halen without thinking of their original album that copied the band’s name. They were a total party rock and roll machine in their day’s of the 80’s. From “Somebody Get Me A Doctor” to “D.O.A.”, the content on Van Halen II comes up as ruminative, which is fleshed out by instrumental shreddings of lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen. The players are free to create any familiar fuzz-tone riff, sudden bass run, cowbell clunk, and rumbling drum eruption which is known to their genre. The album named Van Halen II, is rarely cited as one of the groups best works. The recording process was completed in three weeks, this started some sonic innovation. Eddie Van Halen achieved a thick guitar sound by overloading
Napalm Records have set to become a haven for stoner fans. The label saw the rising interest in this type of music, so they started testing the grounds by signing some classic acts such as Karma to Burn, Monster Magnet or Brant Bjork. Soon after, another wave arrived with psychedelic groups like My Sleeping Karma, Glowsun or the hard rock/blues of The Sword or Zodiac. To complement these lighter bands, the Austrian label grabbed British “caveman battle doom” heroes, Conan. A bold move, however, Blood Eagle is a solid record that introduced these guys to a vast audience that eats this music for breakfast.
Dave Matthews Band’s album Crash was their second major-label release and debatably one of their most popular albums, as well. The band is made up of multiple brilliant musicians consists of the violinist Boyd Tinsley, carter Beauford the drummer, Dave Matthews the main singer, as well as, guitarist, bassist Stefan Lessard, and finally Leroi Moore playing the saxophone (Dmb Tour Members). Dave Matthews Band was started in early 1991 and has only grown bigger and better throughout the years making them a statement band in our society. The twelve song album bounces from upbeat to mellow songs in a perfect blend that fits together so outstandingly.
My favorite part of the song is the amazing guitar solo that combines with the backing vocalist for an amazing solo. This anti-war song came out of the end of the Vietnam War and carries the sentiment of that era. 4) "Can't Always Get What You Want" from Let It Bleed (1969) Two songs in a row from Let It Bleed (it's a great album!).
“Rock performances have often wallowed in excess but none have exhibited more graceless delight in extreme tastelessness than KISS” (Charlesworth 1869) said Chris Charlesworth when he was describing KISS. KISS is one of the best rock bands there ever was. The band was started in 1972 by Gene Simmons and they are best known for their outrageous outfits and makeup(Charlesworth 1869). They also had a huge influence in their prime and they still have an impact on people today. KISS is a heavy metal/ rock & Roll band that has engraved their name in music history and changed rock and roll for decades.
First of all Def. Leppard should get this award because they have very good musical and are a pretty sweet bad. The other reasons I think they should get this award is because they have a lot of achievements. The first achievement that I liked was they were on the “Bill Board 200 with their song “Hysteria”, sold 10,000 in the first week of it being out, and also with the song Hysteria spent six weeks at number one and 133 weeks on the Bill Board 200.”(Caulfield 57) There next achievement was that there was a big accident and there main drummer lost his arm. So he was back to playing the drums. That’s when they made the big hit “Hysteria in 1983 whit there album “Pyromania” after the car accident.” (Tamenbaum 16). There next big achievement was that “Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell had there amazing guitar abilities over looked.” (Hammond 16-20). The next achievement I believe is very good because “Def. Leppard and Kiss are paring up to go on tour to support our troops in the U.S.A.” (Fekadu) The next award that they received was “The 2008 Kerrag award also known as the “Classic Song Writer
This hit album was held in high regards due to its credits of bringing alternative rock and grunge to the mainstream music. The band was well known because when their performances ended they would destroy their instruments making that what they became famous for. In 1992 the members grew uncomfortable with the success they had built because speculations arose about Kurt Cobain being a heavy heroin user. Despite these speculation their third album, In Utero, came out in 1993 which didn’t meet the same sales expectations from their second album
Though the influences that contribute to the undertones of each album may vary, they still draw mainly from their primary influences. In addition, across all of their albums, they sustain their reputation for the moody, almost brooding element of their music. Regardless of which album someone should choose to listen to, that distinct ‘Warpaint’ ambiance is there on both of them.
The Beatles were one of the most influential music groups of the rock era. They were able to conquer and influence pop culture with their music. Initially they affected the post-war baby boom generation of Britain and the W.S. during the 1960s, and later the request of the world. Certainly they were the most successful group, with global sales exceeding 1.3 billion albums. During the sixties, The Beatles using revolutionary ideas in their music inspired a generation of young adults across the globe to look at life from their perspective.
They not only made but also gave such an important role in the history of rock and roll. The Stones were extremely important to the development of rock and roll because they created a style of music that no other band could have created. They established their own sound and musical style. With a music career that continues advance after 50 years, the Rolling Stones still pursue to share their talented skills with old and new coming bands. The song’s lyrics, for their day, were controversial because they challenged the current cultural mores.
They took me to several of these concerts when I was very young. One of my most memorable experiences was at a Patti Smith concert when I was 2 years old where I pumped my fist at a song that I did not understand. These days, my family has settled down to focus more on me and my brother’s future, but every few months there is a special occasion where we would go see something new and refreshing. As a Bender, I absorbed a great deal of knowledge as well as a unique musical taste. I knew I wanted to become a part of music by learning how to play a musical instrument.
Styx is a band that swept the nation with it’s heavy metal. 1970, when the band was created by Dennis DeYoung, James Young, John Panozzo, and John Curulewski. Tommy Shaw, lead vocals and guitarist, Chuck Panozzo, bassist and vocalist, Todd Sucherman, percussionist, Lawrence Gowan, vocalist and keyboardist, Ricky Phillips, bassist, guitarist, vocalist, have carried the bands’ legacy after it was started over forty years ago. Recently they released an album called “Mission,” and during the album it explained the pains and joys of an exhibition of mars in the year 2033. Since the band was formed, there had been one number 1 hit, eight Top 8 hits, and twenty three songs on the billboard, including “Babe,” “Mr. Roboto,” and “Lady.”
Aftermath, was the group’s first album with all original material, including songs like “Paint It, Black” and “Ruby Tuesday” which both were #1 hits in the U.S. In 1967, with the Beatles releasing Sgt. Peppers the Stones responded by releasing Their Satanic Majestics Request which was psychedelic and not greeted well by audiences. With this bad news of that album they stopped producing psychedelic songs and went back to true Rock & Roll with some
