A huge factor pertaining to American politics is the controversial topic of global warming and climate change. President Donald Trump has decided to revisit the Keystone XL pipeline plans. The proposed oil pipeline is 1,179 miles long that will be in addition to what is there already, which will be ranging from Alberta Canada to the state of Nebraska. The company TransCanada plans to build this pipeline have been rejected by former president Barack Obama due to it's controversy of environmental harm, yet current president Trump want's to potentially move forward with building Keystone XL to rake in a percentage of the profits. This process is easier said than done however, with a large number of people including environmentalists protesting it's negotiation it has slowed down the process. …show more content…

The Keystone XL methods require more gasses and water to be put in the ground causing immediate toxic fumes to be let out into our environment. The TransCanada company plan has also been dragged into American politics due to it's potential economic gain as well as it's potential job increase which are both good things for our country but then when evaluated further you see each of it's flaws. As for our economy, the Keystone XL would let us obtain billions of dollars from it but in turn it will harm our environment more than conventional pipelines due to it's increased carbon pollution. Pertaining to jobs, during the construction of the 1,179 mile pipeline it will create thousands of jobs but once construction is done it will hold very few permanent jobs, most will be temporary jobs. This will not only affect the states directly involved but the whole world, therefore this is why it is necessary for this process to be involved in American politics, to allow a higher level of guidance to be
