Without Katniss Everdeen the Hunger Games trilogy would simply be incomplete. Through Katniss the author of the trilogy, Stephanie Meyer was able to create a powerful symbol for the revolution of Panem. She goes through all the major conflicts and despite there being many supporting characters who play a smaller role in them as well she is the main protagonist. All three novels are written in her point of view so the reader feels as if they are experiencing the revolution and the 74th and 75th Hunger Games along with her. Katniss Everdeen is the most important character in the Hunger Games trilogy due to her being symbolic of the revolution, constantly beating the capital and the fact that the story is written in her viewpoint.
In the Hunger Games trilogy Katniss directly defies the Capitol and their rotten president many many times but

This is what is really able to hook readers into the book and makes them want to keep reading more and more of the stories. It was written specifically so that the reader feels like they are right there experiencing the Hunger Games and uprising along with her. This can cause a reader to feel a deep emotional connection with her and the other characters she is close to and makes them want to keep constantly reading because they are worried about her and need to see what will happen next. While reading the reader is able to really feel her emotions and understand her thought process fairly clearly throughout. This also sends a powerful message to young girls as it was one of the first dystopian novels to feature such a strong female character. It is good to see a girl in charge for once and it inspired the many other dystopian books that came after it such as Divergent and Delirium to name a few. If Katniss Everdeen was not in the trilogy or if it was not told from her point of view it may not have resonated with as many people as it ultimately managed
Until page 50 it was a perfect beginning , and I had a good time in reading this pages and a lot of something to learn and something make me feel interest, such as, the deep description of the characters, places, and even food which made me feel the moment and as if I were living with them. Also, the way that the author had depicted how people suffered because of the hanger and poverty. Another thing that I want to notice about is that girl – Katniss – who was the ideal sister and daughter, when she prefers to go to The Hunger Games instead of her sister – Prim- ,and when she takes care of her ill mother. Furthermore, while all the bad things that happened to her and all the responsibilities that placed on her, but it didn't prevented her
The first reason I think katniss is important is because she is brave. In the book katniss is brave because she fights the capital in the which has happened in the past but failed but katniss actually ends up destroying the capital which is a really brave thing to do. Another example of katniss being brave is actually fighting in the hunger games and not just doing nothing. When she first went in she wasn't going to hurt anyone but she started to get more brave towards the end. This evidence show that katniss is brave because she fights for her life without getting hurt really at all. She's not afraid to do dangerous stuff like fighting the capital and going outside the fence at district 12. In conclusion I think katniss is important because she is brave.
Her books have a lot of action that attracts guys, but also has romance which girls have a lot of interest in them. My sister that’s in college had to read The Hunger Games for a grade, and that made me realize that Suzanne Collins is targeting different age groups. It doesn’t matter if you’re in middle school or college, her writing captivates any age group. I believe that it’s the way she expresses herself through her novels that makes her readers read the second book. Many readers don’t like the first book of an author so when the second one is out, they will not pick it up. Being an authors is very hard in todays society, a person has to have passion for what he/she is doing in order for people to purchase your books or even read
Katniss’s popularity reflects cultural ideas of heroism as well. Her popularity has inspired other Hollywood production companies to create a strong female lead hero. Since The Hunger Games was released, there has been a number of movies and books released that has a similar plot and female lead role like Divergent, The Mortal Instruments and many more. A. O. Scott
Then, The Hunger Games was written in 2008 and there was a new woman in society. This woman, exemplified by Katniss, was independent and could provide for the family just as a male could. She was willing to work and survive on her own, much like the near sixty percent of all women who were labor force participants in 2010 (“Women in the Labor Force in 2010”). The stories both reflect the time period in which they were written and help the audiences to understand the information more
“We had to save you because you're the Mockingjay, Katniss, says Plutarch. While you live, the revolution lives” (Collins). Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games is a complex character who epitomizes the archetype of a hero, however, she also shatters the mold by rebelling against the capital and endangering her whole family. She starts out as a hero to her family, especially her sister, and then becomes the symbol of strength to everyone. Katniss sacrifices herself by volunteering to join the Hunger Games in place of her sister, it is a game of survival where a boy and a girl from each district are forced to fight the other members of other districts to the death. By going out of her ordinary world and preparing to join a game where her life could be taken, she fits right into the archetype of a hero. Her bow and arrow, the weapon that only she can wield, will be the only things to help her survive. Despite these heroic qualities, Katniss makes an erroneous decision and blunder mistakes that shows the reader the flip side of Katniss.
Katniss is a strong female lead in The Hunger Games because of her background and how that shaped her to become who she was in the novel. After facing the tragic death of her father, Katniss became the official breadwinner for her family. She had to mature at a very young age, so that she could take care of her little sister Prim, and her mother, who fell into a state of depression after her husband’s death. As a result of growing up faster then she should have, Katniss came to be a selfless, responsible and mature young girl. She knew how to take care of herself, and she was understanding towards the people of the districts because she knew how hard life was and the struggles the people faced everyday . Persephone on the other hand, didn’t understand the responsibilities of life and how everything worked around her. She was fortunate as a child to grow up having everything being taken care of for her. Persephone and Katniss have one thing in common and that is their love for their families. They would do anything for their families, which is how Katniss entered the Hunger Games and how Persephone wouldn’t fully give her heart to Hades because of her mother. These ladies are so different from one another, yet they are still bound together by their strong will and determination.
The time that Suzanne Collins lived in when she was writing this book had a heavy effect on the plot of the book. It was from watching tv when the concept of the hunger games came to her. She was surfing the channels and saw a reality tv show where people were competing to stay in the game and a footage from the invasion of Iraq. The two concepts mixed in her mind and led her to the hunger games. She published the book in 2008 which was a time when reality shows, like Survivor, were very popular. If the reader approaches this book thinking of it as a reality tv show, a lot of the same themes arise.
The book “The Hunger Games” was written by Suzanne Collins and it’s the first book out of the trilogy she has written. Collins uses a mixture of modern and classical as elements in this story and it allows for any age reader to enjoy it. Some the literary devices she uses in the book are setting, symbolism, and themes. It’s everything you could want in a book because it has a little bit of each genre, like action, romance, comedy, and even mystery. This book will have you sitting at the edge of your seat on minute and then grabbing for a tissue the next. When reading this book, “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins and looking at the setting, symbolism, and theme it’s easy to sense the different tones and emotions going on in the story.
The Hunger Games, A book series by Suzanne Collins, differs in few ways from Veronica Roth’s Divergent. The Hunger Games lead role, Katniss Everdeen, lives in a world of few choices. The government controls the lives of everybody in the 12 districts. When Katniss’ little sister, Primrose, is chosen to fight in the annual Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She is forced to fight and forced to kill, all to survive. This competition results in the people fearing not only their government, but also their futures. Katniss becomes a symbol of rebellion against the
Because even though katniss does change a little bit and promises Rue she'll win,she still already promised her family that she'd win with a passion in the beginning of the text. So it ends up not having a huge affect on
Most people have heard of the Hunger Games, but don’t know the true meaning. People say it’s a book (or movie) about innocent people getting slaughtered. It may look like that but there is so much more depth. When authors write books, they add their perspective and beliefs. It could be about government, religion and many more controversial topics. In the Hunger Games, the author Suzanne Collins shows what she thinks about government. She does this by relating the Hunger Games to the gladiators and Ancient Roman times. Even the names of characters relate. Hunger Games may not be a sweet and innocent book, but there is a good lesson behind all the violence.
The Puritans would adore the book “The Hunger Games” because of the hard working characters. Living without modern technology makes work hard for everybody. For Katniss it was a lot harder, her dad had passed so she had to help her mother and sister a lot more. Although, Katniss is not the only one who works hard, all of the citizens work hard too making clothes, food, ect. Finally the contestants are able to think for themselves and not rely on following someone. While in the game, the players must work very hard to stay alive and plan out every move that they make. Katniss also shows that critical thinking is important. When she gets hurt, she quickly reacts and bandages herself, before the wound could get infected, which keeps her alive and well.
This was my second time reading the Hunger Games. I struggled with reading it because I knew everything that was going to happen. Also by having influences from the movie, friends and media I got tired of hearing the same story over again. I did realize more of the darkness from reading the book for the second time. The descriptions of the killings during the games caused me to imagine gruesome scenes. The scene with Cato seemed to drag on to create the sense of how much he was suffering when the wolves got to him. The book allows you to know what is happening in Katniss's mind which can give more insight about how she feels about the people around her. She goes back and forth between hating Peeta and liking him. She still doesn't know her
Now let 's start with the ending since I just can 't stop thinking about it. It was such a relief that Katniss Everdeen won the hunger games along with Peeta. I remember when Rue told Katniss, "You have to win," and finally she did win. It was a little scary at the end however since there was a chance Cato would win. But luckily Katniss and Peeta were fighting together on the same side and were powerful enough to defeat him. After Cato fell off the cornucopia and into the mutts I feel bad for Katniss and Peeta for having to listen to his screams. They had to listen to his screams for so long in the cold. In the hunger games it gets really cold at night so could you imagine such a night to sleep in. You are in the dark and extremely cold on top of a cornucopia and the whole night you have to listen to the screams of someone being slowly ate by Capitol engineered mutts. Also you know that if you fall down from the cornucopia you will die a painful death and scream just like the Cato who is slowly dying. Katniss is an amazing person because she was generous enough to
