The short story genre often follows a template that has been laid out by the first-ever short story writers. The setting of the catacombs also illustrates confinement; This environment is completely different from the beginning of the short story where people were having fun in the festival. The short story takes a drastic move from freedom to confinement in a mere lapse of time. The setting of a short story makes the readers know the context of where the story is taking place.
