Kanye West. One of the most meaningful names in history, where it is literally decorated with a bunch of different meanings. In the everyday society, it is a phenomenon popularly known as the Kanye West Effect, signifying obnoxious confidence. In the pop realm, it alludes to ill-mannered individuals whose actions are often defined by reckless behavior. In the business world, it represents the underestimated success of self-starters. In my English class, however, it refers to the creative introductions to essays, in which success is what we strive for, confidence is what we intend to attain, and reckless behavior is what we are encouraged to avoid. I am, indeed, a quite arrogant and ambitious individual, two attributes that most distinctively define me. When an ordinary student enters a classroom, s/he usually is entering with a goal of learning. On the other hand, I am the student who enters a classroom with the mindset that thy are not worthy of my patience. This mindset can only be dissolved when the professor exceeds the arrogance and confidence that I maintain. And Professor had successfully broken my stubborn walls of ego, only to repair it sixteen weeks later into a stronger wall of ego. When my walls are broken, I tend to rebuild them off of what I take from the destroyer, who in this case was Professor. Without the walls, I generally strive to learn and grasp and prove myself, and that is exactly what had happened. During this period of “walllessness,” I was introduced to two major weakness of mine that consistently got in the way of my writing: verbosity and insistence. It is hard to admit, though the truth is as blatant as can possibly be, that verbosity is a refuge for desperate writers trying to not look desperate. Verbosity reliably contaminates my literary pieces, whether this be a letter, a research essay, or even a poem. With complete gratitude, I would like to note that Professor was brutally honest with this fault of mine, but it was for my sake, which I completely respect.
