This debate between Kaine and Pence was interesting because of many reasons. Originally, I thought Kaine would win this debate because in the presidential debate, I believe Hillary won against Trump. Kaine uses a good technique against Pence by focusing on certain issues rather than a variety of issues. An example would be describing how bad Trump is. Pence is a strong person because he was able to keep his emotions under control even when he was being criticized heavily by Kaine. Regarding Trump’s tax returns questions, I believe that Pence’s response did not answer the question completely. I believe that Pence should have better prepared himself because I am guessing he knew that Trump’s tax returns would have been included in the debate.
In the wake of the death of Antonin Scalia, the Supreme Court Justice , Republican candidates had a debate and met in South Carolina for the 9th GOP debate. This debate mainly discussed what each candidate would do if they were to become president. During these debates, the candidates are given a chance to deliver their messages , and to help voters determine which candidate will be best as president. In the republican debate, each candidate was asked a question which they was expected to answer but somehow didn't appear to do so. While watching, I came to conclusion that some of the arguments were successful and others unsuccessful. In the first section of the debate when candidates Ben Carson, Donald
The title is At Republican Debate, Candidates Are Likely to Set Sights on Ted Cruz, written by Jonathan Martin and Maggie Haberman issued on December 14, 2015. Many controversial topics have defined the previous Republican debates with Donald Trump currently leading in the polls. This article characterizes possible tactics for the final Republican debate. The subject matter of this article deals with potential Republican presidential candidates. Candidates must attack Donald Trump if they want a chance of taking him over in the polls. Some facts are based on state reporting and opinions on debate tactics. The editor does attempt to appeal to his readers' emotions by highlighting voter's concerns and issues including terrorism,
The minute both candidates speak their first sentence, the pathos tone is automatically set. Including their families in each speech makes Kaine and Pence look as if they are family-oriented, as well as making the voters feel as if they are a part of these candidates’ lives. For example, Kaine opens with the statement, “I want to thank my beautiful wife Anne and my three wonderful children, Nat, Woody, and Annella…” In a like manner, Pence begins with “On behalf of my family here and looking on…” Then, he continues to say how grateful he is for his family. “Grateful to my wonderful wife Karen and our three
The debate was deluged with policies and issues. Even though candidates probably had a plethora of issues they wanted to address, the time limit, and the debate format stood like a glorified barrier. The issue was raised on how to create jobs to minimize the unemployment rate. The other issue raised was regarding taxes. Issue was raised regarding which tax policy would turn out to be most cohesive and profitable with time. Issue about current race relation was raised along with the ways to improve it. Another issue that was raised was regarding national security. Personally, I think that issue regarding tax stood out in the debate.
Trump met with Pence during the 4th of July weekend and both camps were in constant contact even though the GOP nominee was vetting former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Pence, who was up for reelection as Governor, faced a major deadline on Friday in deciding whether he would stay on the ballot or withdraw to run for vice president due to
The Vice Presidential debate, held at Longwood University on October 4th, was between the Democratic candidate, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, and Republican candidate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Specific issues were asked about by the moderator, Elaine Quijano, such as specific qualities of the candidates that would make them good leaders if tragedy were to occur. However, the candidates used much of their allotted time to target the opposing presidential candidate and would then interrupt their opponent multiple times throughout their answer. Comparing the citizenship qualification of the United States to Germany may be helpful in solving the current immigration problems facing our country. The Vice Presidential debate showed the differences in opinion on immigration; the Republican campaign looks to build on the current enforcement-only policies and the Democratic campaign seeks to secure the country while attempting to help immigrants and their families.
One of the customs of Presidential elections is the debates held between the candidates prior to that event. The topics discussed in these debates are of controversial nature and their role is to target and convince undecided and independent voters - those not belonging to a specific political party.
Trump won the first presidential debate between himself and Hillary Clinton based on the criteria of, who had the least amounts of interruptions between the candidates and the moderator, who had the least amount of meaningless insults in their argument against each other, and the last one being who provided the most ethical, logical, and emotional appeals in their argument. All of these factors were the criteria for the winning of this debate, for the reason of the criteria providing judgment of debate etiquette and the inclusion of the needed elements of a persuasive argument. This criteria leads to the conclusion that Donald Trump won the first presidential debate.
Kairos is a significance part of rhetoric because; certain oral or written materials have appropriate times to be shared. When it comes to kairos there is a right time for everything, and unlike poetry, which is abstract form of art, it can be perceived in different ways. Poetry can be presented in different forms of writing, and is not confined compared to Kariros. Kariros of the written or spoken form takes advantage of a particular moment in time to grab an audience’s attention. Kariros must be presented at the right moment or it won’t be must as effected, it will miss the opportunity to capture the moment. According to the textbook “ Kairos, form this perspective, was the … deliberation and thus for examining issues of good and bad, right
Cain Stevenson --”Hello, and welcome to the 78th presidential debate held on channel 13, Fox News. Today we have a very special debate, all five presidential candidates are with us today in the sold out Gillette stadium. And boy can you hear the the screams of the 70000 fans cheering on their candidates. Massive crowds have formed outside hoping that they might get a chance to see the candidates,in person arriving. During this debate one of the most interesting things that I mentioned was the way how the candidates played for the audience. When one of the candidates would say a statement for which the crowd would applause, other candidates would try and straightaway compliment their opponent and add own views to the same issue. The fight for the audience was too noticeable and it and it seemed that the candidates are willing to sacrifice their own principles for the joyful voices of the
The fourth debate hosted by Fox Business Network in conjunction with The Wall Street Journal featured plenty of exchanges between the candidates clashing on issues such as immigration, Wall Street, and national security. With no breakout moments and fewer minor fireworks throughout the night, the top eight candidates succeeded in offering explanation of their economic policy.
Finally, Mike Pence and Tim Kaine talked about their presidential nominees Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Kaine was asked why so many people distrusted Hillary Clinton and whether it was because of the Clinton Foundation or her email controversy. He responded by saying why he trusted Hillary and then turning to why Donald Trump is untrustworthy and selfish. He said Hillary had always been putting others first ever since she was a kid and how she had a special focus of empowering families and children. He did not acknowledge the part of the question about her emails and the Clinton Foundation before his allotted time was up and attention was turned to Pence. Pence was asked why so many Americans thought Trump was simply too erratic and responded
In terms of both candidates I really was surprised in lots of things that had happened in their childhoods. In particular Donald Trump that had always had that winning mentality. At a very young age he had got sent to the military academy and most that would go would absolutely hate it due to how hard it is to be in the military academy. I think one of the most interesting things that I learned about Donald Trump is that he in his own eyes he only saw losers and winners in this world and his father had installed the idea that in this world you either a ¨killer¨. And what Donald’s dad was trying to say is you either someone who has lots of confidence to do what you wanted to do or you are just not meant to be for this world and just a loser. On the other hand Hillary Clinton at a very young age had always been one the most intelligent students when she went to school. At one point she had been going to be school to become a lawyer and in that same school she ended up meeting Bill Clinton. She had went to one of the top law schools in the country which was Yale. Later on she
Of course, our journey isn’t about the creation-evolution debate. That’s good because the creation-evolution debate is an emotional topic and emotion can cloud thinking. While we’ll use the topic of creation-evolution for examples, the particulars of the debate isn’t the focus. Therefore, since sound and sane reasoning is the destination of this journey, we’ll focus on reason.
