The growing trend of home improvement has perpetuated a larger demand for box store home improvement shops such as Home Depot and Lowe’s. There are several types of companies that contribute to the booming renovation industry. Home Depot and Lowe’s provide all the
From its roots as a vision in 1978 of a home improvement superstore The Home Depot has become a giant in this sector. Influenced by the “do-it-yourself” customer or the corporate contractors each policy and business plan is developed with a consumer stake holder emphasis. As its founders stated “We’re in the people business” (Planning), and this is maintained in its business structure today. Set up as a direct to consumer warehouse of home improvement and building products

Women have been discriminated against throughout the history of the United States. Women were typically associated with being “mothers” and having to take care of the children along with other so called home “duties.” They were not allowed to vote until fairly recently. Astonishingly, women in the United States were not allowed to have their own bank account before 1974. There is no reasonable excuse for such restrictions, except to keep women under the control of men. Altogether, the United States’ has a history of discriminating against women. Women have historically been treated as second class citizens, especially in the workplace, which kept them from doing certain jobs that were meant for men. The reality is that women have proven more than capable of doing labor intensive work. World War II proved that women were more than capable of replacing men. Women’s rights in the United States have definitely been improved, but they continue to be discriminated against in the workplace.
Today, Detroit, New York City and Chicago have many similarities They're highly populated cities with high crime rates, many homeless people, noisy streets and terrible traffic. In contrast, they attract many tourists with their tall skyscrapers, and their famous attractions. As well as similarities, there's also, many differences. Today, Chicago and New York City are known for having many job opportunities and luring people in with promising careers. Whereas in Detroit, it's known to be quite hard to find employment. These cities have gone on a long journey to get to where they're at today. I'll be discussing Detroit's history from around 1880 to 1910 and comparing it to the way Chicago and New York City was in the book, Sister Carrie written by Theodore Dreiser.
Living in a big city is a lot different than living in the country. Cities are compact , loud, and always busy; the country is usually isolated, tranquil, and underpopulated. In a city like Chicago, which is home to about 2.8 million people, there are so many things that contrast from the country. In Chicago, there are about 16 houses per block, there are about two schools within a five mile radius, schools are packed, sports aren’t well funded, and education was kind of like a repeat every year.
-For HomeHelp it is the opportunity to ally with Woodmere to create a time based logistics to improve product availability in stores while reducing overall inventory. By Allying with a furniture manufacturer we have

New York City is made up of five boroughs, which include the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. Within these boroughs, there are high and low-income neighborhoods that contain either high or low status organizational structures or facilities. Each division has their own characteristics and top attractions, such as the Empire State building, Central Park, or Times Square. As New York City may be known for great food and fun attractions, New York faces infrastructure problems within each borough. New York City’s infrastructure funding is limited in lower income neighborhoods, where money needed to upkeep the city goes toward prime tourist’s areas or residents living in high status neighborhoods, such as The Upper East Side of Manhattan, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, and Lenox Hill, Manhattan. Moreover, abandoned buildings, poor sewage conditions, and rocky roads and streets are examples of low-income area infrastructure problems that may hinder neighborhood growth both structurally and economically. Harlem, East Brooklyn, and South Bronx are low-income parts of New York that lack new and refined facilities, roads, plumbing, and fundamental structures, which contribute to high crime and arrests.
After graduating high school, I took a break (gap year) before entering college. I applied to many places then decided to give City Year a chance. I loved everything City Year represented and there was something about the red jackets that drew me to the organization. For eleven months I was a corps member for the New York site that’s my connection to City Year. I was lucky enough to serve in my old Elementary school (no one was aware I had attended the school.) Seeing the man-hours, I and others such as corps members as well as those in the “front office” put in to make sure the students and communities get the best I fell in love with City Year. You could tell everyone was dedicated to the communities they served and being role models for
My capstone project was to go to Chicago and to see many high quality art in art museum and murals/monuments in public in the city. It was also to study the diverse art culture of Chicago.

J&J hasn’t always been a powerhouse. Its humble beginnings began in Brunswick, New Jersey in the year 1886. The founders were the Johnson brothers, Robert, James, and Edward Johnson. Their focus hasn’t changed much from its founding principles. They began by selling first aid kits to railroad workers and health products to families. In 1888, they came out with the first commercial First Aid Kit,
