In the text, the author Justin C. Lake discussed the two essential concepts, history and plausibility, which were extensively used by medieval historiography. History had a serious definition during medieval age. Like what Isidore said, historical truth is credible if there is testimony follows. It was difficult for medieval historian to locate and confirm every history. Therefore, the rhetorical invention was used to fill in the gap.
