A child is encouraged to see his or her talents as loving gifts from God and to see academic work as a way to cultivate those talents in preparation to love in return. Our Whole-Family / Whole-Person Philosophy St. Mary of the Angels School has a common mission that includes a commitment to truth and a concern for the whole person of parents, teachers, and of our young people. Ready for School, or more commonly known as "Backpack Day", is an event where Arlington Heights school districts and other community members help fund to purchase school supplies for under privileged students in Arlington Heights. In addition, on the day of the event there are multiple community services, such as the police and fire departments, the library and park district in attendance to help families understand the resources they offer. St. Aloysius Catholic School. Fear of death. Fear of ?judgment,? fear of forgetting all the rules. At age seven, I wake up in the middle of the night in terror, realizing I have forgotten to pray to God to protect our house from fire. I learn at school the difference between right and wrong. Heaven and Hell. I learn about cardinal sin and lesser sins ? confession and penance. I learn the complicated code of the church, which, if I follow it, will lead me to heaven. I learn to do what I am told and to not speak out of turn. I learn how to get the nuns? praise by cleaning the convent after school. There is a simplicity in the orderliness of things ? a distant comfort in knowing that if I just try hard enough I will get it all right. I am good at trying hard.
