“Effective leaders need to be flexible, and must adapt themselves according to the situation.” The book Lord of the Flies by William Golding is about a group of british boys that get stranded on a island and they have to figure how a way to govern themselves. Jack’s effective leadership throughout the novel led to great triumph.
First I will talk about my first piece of evidence about how Jack is an effective leader. “He’d never have gotten us meat. He isn't a prefect and we don't know anything about him. He just gives orders and expects people to obey for nothing.” (Golding,PDF, 98) This quote shows that Ralph wouldn’t of done anything to hunt for meat for the boys on the island like Jack did. Ralph only worried about keeping the fire alive to have them get rescued, and not about hunting for food to stay alive. Ralph is making the other boys scared of the beast, but Jack is getting the boys excited to go and do something about the beast. Like a good leader would do in this situation. Jack doesn’t want the boys to be scared of the beast anymore, so he gets them to come with him so they can face their fears, and not be scared anymore of the beast.
