Independence. Defined as freedom from the influence or control of others. As children grow up around so much technology and media, many have heard countless times that the media is harsh on teens. I think that teens would be better off using media for themselves without the influence of their parents. After all, their parents can't shelter them forever, can they? Social Media and School An abundance of parents are distressed by the amount of time their teens are using social media, and if they spend suitable time in the real world and studying. One of the social medias that parents have the toughest time trusting is SnapChat; this may because that the pictures posted “delete”. One of the main reasons it is untrusted in that parents think it is solely for sexting. The main purpose for a lot of people is to express their creativity, and for self expression. The SnapChat filters caters to a group that likes to express their comedy among their peers like the app it is their own stage. The use of this app allows a teen to show their responsibility. This app can be used for more than self expression, it can be used for behind the scenes information, talking to your friends, and access to the news that the youth may actually be appealed to read. Although others may say that the use of media leaves teens in their rooms for hours and in the end makes antisocial, it is proven to create a chance for a new friendship. Many people also may say that teens could post something that they will later regret, or that they will encounter a cyber bully or perhaps be hunted by an online predator.
