Romeo and Juliet Blame Paper Romeo and Juliet is a great tragedy caused by the actions of Friar Lawrence. The Friar did many things while looking out for his good, and not the good of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence should not have married Romeo and Juliet in the first place. He shouldn’t have given Juliet the sleeping potion and if he didn't rely on someone else to give a letter of great importance to Romeo, Romeo and Juliet would not have committed suicide. All of these unforgivable mistakes that the Friar committed lead to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. If he could have thought his actions through this plan could have worked out better. Friar Lawrence is fully to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death. The first mistake Friar made lead to all of his other mistakes. Friar should have never in a million years married Romeo and Juliet. He knew they were young and not in love as they had only known eachother for a day. “Come, come with me and we will make short work, for, by your levels, you shall not stay alone, till holy church incorporate two in one” (Shakespeare 420). Friar didn’t want to have to marry Juliet to two people as that would be against the law. So, Friar then gave Juliet a sleeping potion where she was supposed to be asleep for 42 hours. This plan lead her family into great devastation. Friar knew that it was wrong to give Juliet the potion, but he thought that if he didn't she would proceed to kill herself right there in his cell. "If, rather than to marry County Paris, Thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself, Then it is likely thou wilt undertake A thing like death to chide away this shame, That copest with death himself to scape from it: And, if thou darest, I’ll give you thee remedy” (Shakespeare 453). Because Friar gave Juliet the sleeping potion he had to keep up his end of the deal by letting Romeo know the
In Romeo And Juliet, Friar Lawrence plays a very important role in not only being a friend of the lovers, but also the person who is to blame for their deaths. Many people argue about who is the one who caused their deaths; Friar always seems to be the most popular. There are different explanations on who is to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death, two big ones being Friar Lawrence and Nurse.
In “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” written by William Shakespeare the character Friar Lawrence was the most at fault for the tragic ending. The first reason that Friar Lawrence is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s tragedy, Is that he is a selfish and greedy man. He only wanted to bring them together because he wanted to be the hero of the town. The second reason that Friar Lawrence is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s tragedy is that he rushes their marriage, He should’ve waited for them to really get to know each other. They’ve kissed twice and never been on a date or even have a normal conversation. Friar Lawrence only rushed them into the marriage because he wants to be the hero as fast as he can, he doesn’t even think to consider the consequences of what he is doing. If the marriage doesn’t work out, He could be forever hated by the families and he wouldn’t be the town hero. Friar Lawrence is a foolish man.
Sometimes people can prevent bad things from happening. However, at the time they made their decision, they believed it was the best one. Some of these decisions made may mean life or death. In William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married them, he gave Juliet the potion, and he came up with the plan. Friar married them when he should not have.
Throughout time, many tragedies caused by romance. For example, in William Shakespeare’s, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, two star-crossed lovers take their lives. With all of the deaths, who is truly to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death? Friar Lawrence and Capulet are to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet.
Near the end of the play, Friar comes up with an idea to get Romeo and Juliet back together. With Romeo being banished to Mantua, he writes him a letter to explain what will happen and where it will take place. He then gives this letter to Friar John, who is supposed to deliver the letter, but it is later found out that he was held in quarantine and was unable to deliver it. While this is taking place, Friar Lawrence gives Juliet a vile and tells her to drink it, saying that it will put her in a death-like state for 48 hours. Once she is found “dead” she will be laid in the family tomb. Once the 48 hours are up, she will awaken and Romeo was supposed to come and take her somewhere safe where they can be together. This plan backfired when Romeo didn’t receive the Friar’s letter and took matters into his own hands when Balthazar tells him Juliet is dead. Because Balthazar believes Juliet is truly dead, Romeo believes that this is the news that was supposed to come from the Friar. Romeo then paid for a bottle of poison that he will drink when he lies next to Juliet. If Friar’s plan would have succeeded, they would be together and they could work out a plan to keep them both safe and end the family feud. Because the plan backfired, both Romeo and Juliet end up dead at the end of the
did was he secretly married them. If he didn't marry Romeo and Juliet when her parents tried to force her to marry someone else she would not have tried to run away with Romeo. The friar did not do his job. If the friar would of doing his job and delivered the note to Romeo then Romeo wouldn't of went to find Juliet and would've known that she is faking her death. In a way it was not all of the friars faulty, but he did play a big part in it was also the family's fault as well.
The letter said that Juliet will fake her death. Which ended up being bad because when Juliet took the potion, Romeo actually thought she was dead. Then Romeo ended up killing himself because he thought Juliet was dead all because Friar didn't get the letter in time. Last reason for Friar being at fault once again for Juliet’s death is that he basically watched Juliet kill herself. As Juliet is crying because her love Romeo died she decided to stab herself.
The Friar is to blame, because he married Romeo and Juliet. He had married them without telling telling their parents, which he should have done since he knew they were young impulsive children. Moments before the Friar had married Romeo and Juliet, he told Romeo “These violent delights have violent ends and their triumph die, like fire and powder…” 2:6:9-10. The Friar said this meaning he knew the relationship wasn’t going to last long, but he still married them.
“Then plainly know my heart's dear love is set on the fair daughter of rich Capulet.” was a quote of Romeo in the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. This play is about two teenagers, Romeo, and Juliet, from feuding families who fall into love with each other, and it takes place in the city of Verona. Friar Lawrence secretly marries them, but then Romeo gets into a fight and gets banished forever. Juliet's father, Lord Capulet wants Juliet to marry one of the king’s men, Paris, but Juliet does not want to. The Friar helps her get out of marrying Paris. There are a lot of deaths in this book, and I believe that Friar Lawrence, and Lord Capulet are to blame for these deaths.
Everyone expects a happy ending, where the characters all live happily ever after at the end of the story. Well, not in this case. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare most of the main characters end up dead. Through the journeys, hardships, complications, and miscommunications there is only one person responsible for the deaths of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, Friar Laurence. The Friar is responsible because he gives Juliet a vial to make her seem dead, but she will eventually wake up.
He knew that Juliet wasn’t thinking rationally, especially since she had just tried to kill herself. He begins to realize that it was a bad idea when he said “And with wild looks bid me devise some mean, To rid her from this second marriage, Or in my cell there would she kill herself ”(V, III, 249-251). Stanton Peele also noticed that first Friar was trying to be reasonable, but then gives Juliet the potion, “But then (oy!!!) the good Father resorts to pharmacology: he gives Juliet a potion to make her appear dead” (Romeo and Juliet's Death Trip: Addictive Love and Teen Suicide). Friar also didn’t know if Romeo was going to show up on time, or if at all, yet he still gave the potion to Juliet.
Friar Lawrence plays a big part in causing the death of Romeo and Juliet because he secretly marries them knowing something either negative or positive will happen. Friar even tells Romeo the cautions for he says 'Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast.' (Act II Scene III 97) Friar marries them because he thinks that the marriage is going to end the feud between the families of Romeo and Juliet. He knows that even though Romeo and Juliet are in love they will never be able to see each other. Not in a grave to lay one in, another out to have” (Act II scene III 85) Also, if Friar Lawrence did not give Juliet the potion that she was going to use to deceive her family into thinking she was dead to get out of her marriage to Paris and make Romeo aware of what was going to happen, their deaths would not have occurred. Romeo goes to the tomb thinking Juliet is really dead after Balthasar accidently informed him of Juliet’s apparent death not knowing of her plan. If he had stayed there longer without taking the poison he had obtained from Apothecary they both would not have killed themselves. He brought the poison to the tomb to end his own life next to Juliet after seeing for himself if she was really dead. Romeo did not want to live without Juliet.
According to Act V Scene III it states, “Come, I’ll dispose of thee among a sisterhood of nuns.” Juliet relies “ Go, get thee hence, for I will not away. Then Friar Lawrence left Juliet to be with her husband. According to this quote, it seems like Friar Laurence does not care for Juliet. He is only trying to protect himself from the watchman. He should not have done that because earlier in the book she was threatening to kill herself. According to Act IV Scene I, it states “ I long to die if what thou speak'st speak not of remedy. According to that quote, she's saying if you don’t have anything to fix this I will be able to take my own life to be with Romeo, hat s when Friar Lawrence gives her the potion and tells her to take it.He left her in a upsetting mood. Hs e had more of a chance to take her life. He should have conforted her, but he didn’t, and left her to be on her own. Then she had killed herself.
“O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?” (II.ii.36) This is an extremely famous line that most people familiar with world literature have heard. This famous quote is in the bittersweet book of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. The book is about Romeo, a Montague, and Juliet, a Capulet. The innocent lovers come from two feuding families but end up falling in love at first sight at a party that they meet at. The get married in secrecy but then Romeo gets exiled and Juliet can not live without him. She fakes her death to avoid her arranged marriage but then loving young Romeo finds her dead and kills himself. When Juliet wakes up and sees the love of her life dead she also kills herself. In the end this is a play with
Friar Lawrence should not have been blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet. He should not be blamed for giving Juliet the potion because she threatened to kill her self if he didn’t. She said “Unless thou tell me how I may prevent it/ If in thy wisdom thou canst give no help/ Do thou but call my resolution wise/ And with this knife I’ll help it presently”(4.1 51-54). Friar Lawrence did not want Juliet to kill herself so he was forced to give her the potion. He intended on Romeo being together happily, and alive. His plan was unsuccessful because it was not in his hands. Friar warned them when they got married "therefore, love moderately; long love doth so"(2.6 12). He warned Romeo not get too carried away with their love, and to love Juliet calmly and sensibly. Romeo did not listen to his advice and made tragic decisions without thinking.
