This is my essay on the topics that we have discussed in bible, i will be explaining each verse and topic, and will be writing about how they relate to me and other questions like that. The first chapter i will be discussing is Isaiah chapter 6 in Chapter 6 of Isaiah talks about King Uzziah and his reign over judah. This chapter explains my faith because in the chapter King Uzziah is very well loved almost even worshipped. People loved him more than God and thought he was more pure than Him. Than king Uzziah sinned and the people of Judea were shocked. This verse explains my faith because you shouldn’t trust anyone more than God. And we are full of people in this world who worship idols and other gods. Those were the thoughts that i got out …show more content…
And also why Christianity is still relevant today. I think that christianity is still relevant Today is because Jesus reveals himself to Christians or even non believers every day. Also we see signs of Jesus and records of him in the real world. The first verse is John 18:36-38 , which is Jesus talking about his role on this earth and on heaven. Jesus says that he is on this earth to testify to the truth. His role in heaven is to be the king. The role that i see Jesus in in this verse is that Jesus came to this world for one reason and that was to testify to the truth and to save us from our sins. That is the role that i see in that verse. The next verse is 1st Timothy 2:3-4. This verse i just the narrator saying that Jesus wants to save all people. The role that i see Jesus is that he wants all people to know the truth and to be saved by him. But sadly on this earth only christian believers can be saved through Jesus Christ. This doesn't mean that God doesn't love In fact Jesus loves everyone including people, in other religions. That what i think the role of God is in that verse. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 is the next verse I will be talking about. This verse talks about how people know of Jesus and the …show more content…
The first topic that I will be talking about is the cosmic cube . The cosmic cube is Non believers believing in something called the cosmic cube. The cosmic cube Philosophy is that everything that we know, and can see is inside a cube, or an area. This might sound like it is a small problem but it is not. This is not a small problem because since people believe this they also believe that there is no life after death. This type of thinking results in the people living careless lives. They are thinking that since there is no life after death my life is worthless and i shouldn’t care what i do, say, or think. The next thing that I will be discussing is the cosmic battle. The cosmic battle is the battle between truth and lies. In this case Jesus is the Truth and satan is the lie. I will be discussing both sides of the battle Truth and lie. The Truth side is The christians who believe than man is born sinful, and that we are created into God's image. The other side which is the sin side believes That man is born good and sinless, they also believe that we are a product of the universe. That is basically what the cosmic battle is. The next topic is God's truth and satan's truth. God's truth is consistent, logical and leads to peace prosperity and life. The devil’s “truth” distorted and death. You can choose which lifestyle you live but if you choose the devil you will get death. Different
As a religious/philosophical system, Christianity is one of the most prominent on Earth today. From 30A.D. to 1000A.D., Christianity had undergone some of its most vigorous changes while maintaining its core qualities through the Apostolic/Ante-Nicene Period, the First Seven Ecumenical Councils, and the Middle Ages.
God can be a very controversial subject depending on who you are talking to in this day and time; some people believe, some believe in other Gods and then there are other groups who do not believe in anything beyond this life. God has always had to deal with those who do not believe. God has been persecuted since the beginning of time and has proven over and over that is very much who he says he is. This paper will give you a better understanding of who God is, how humanity is affected by their beliefs, who Jesus is and how he is the way to the heavenly father and creator as well as how restoration will impact our lives as well as the beliefs I hold in God and how everything he created relies on the next in some way to survive.
Christianity is a faith based religious tradition, of which the follower is considered to be a Christian adherent. Thus, being a living tradition, Christianity is continually subject to change in accordance to the needs of the adherent and reaffirming the Christian tradition within a contemporary context. The aspects, which attribute the present existence of Christianity and its dynamism therein, include sacred texts and writings, ritual and ceremonies, beliefs and believers, and ethics. Ultimately, the aforementioned characteristics strive to form and continually validate answers to the enduring questions of life through a process of change, which simultaneously highlights Christianity as a living tradition.
Isaiah came during a pivotal time in history. The world was changing rapidly and life was on the edge of prosperity and ruin, as it is today. In this uncertain time Isaiah was called by God to deliver a message of warning, comfort, and deliverance. Christians view the prophecies of Isaiah as a projection of the coming of Jesus Christ. Isaiah spoke of divine judgment and the promises of God through the Prince of Peace. Isaiah’s message of the future King was very meticulous. He describes how Christ will come, Christ’s character and Christ’s purpose. In this paper I will dissect Isaiah’s prophecies in the Old Testament and reference them to the events of Christ in the New Testament.
Christianity is far from what many might call a perfect and successful religion. Saying that it has been completely accepted, unchanged, and resolute since the beginning of the A.D. times would be false. Events like the murder of Christians within the gladiator games of the Roman Circus and the need to create the Edict of Milan show this clearly. Not only this but it has changed over time, as shown with the events of the Iconoclast Controversy between the Roman Orthodox and Catholic churches when differences in what should be allowed within the Christian worship. Christianity is not a successful, untouched religion. It was certainly not wholly welcomed at the time of Christ’s birth , people have been persecuted and treated terribly for having that as their religion, and not everyone has accepted it as
Throughout time, Christianity has changed constantly. In order to survive, Christianity has had to evolve and split. It has split into many denominations, some of which have become extinct over the centuries. The religion has changed and divided due to influential people and events in time.
When I hear religious imagination, I think immediately of what the mind thinks and believes in based on what it is being told. When we think of religion we connect it to belief and we only believe in it because there are hard facts. But I think that religious imagination is a term used when a religion makes you think and makes you wonder. Wonder about the problems and questions of life, why are we here? Where do we go after we die? With these problems and questions that people, a religion can give their insight of what they believe in and doing so it sparks the imagination of others. The teachings of the different religions in themselves makes the followers of that religion think and use their imagination. To see what happened in the past and
The Christian Worldview is questioned all the time by different religions and individuals. Having faith and knowing especially who Jesus is to us, is very essential, because everything wraps around how Jesus is present in our lives. In Mark 8:29 it states “Then he asked them, “But who do you said I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah.” Reading this, we get an understanding on the assurance that Peter had, which sets an example for Christians. Through Jesus’ teachings we can identify who He is, and what His purpose was during His presence here on earth.
As Christians we are trying to re-invent our beliefs, faith and righteous living to fit in the modern world. We are trying to move with the tide, follow trends and changes. We are incorporating what is in the world into Christianity. Christians are trying to hold on to what God expects us to do and living righteously but it is getting harder as the world is changing.
Religion has changed dramatically over the past few decades. Where years ago, it was limited to a few specific set of beliefs in which the majority of people conformed to and few people deviated. Nowadays, religion is immeasurable and varies depending on where you live. Despite all the changes, there are a few basic elements that every religion follows such as; a set of stories, sacredness, community, belief of a higher power, rules/ethics, offer hope and a way to connect with the divine. Although the building blocks are the same, each organizations, religious practices and beliefs are unique.
The leaders of Israel were struggling to maintain power due to its neighbors. The prophet Isaiah guided Hezekiah by preaching that he should place his trust in God and not Assyrian alliance. However, King Hezekiah was not consistent with his trust in God, which later resulted in the fall of reign. The book of Isaiah can be broken down into three sections. Chapters 1 to 39 represent the call of judgement for the city of Jerusalem. Chapters 40 to 55 represent the prophet Isaiah in exile, and chapters 56 to 66 represent the return from exile to a new Jerusalem. Each section highlights a part of Isaiah’s
Christianity is one of the most influential religions on both ancient and modern Western society, with the religion based on the teachings of the prophet Jesus Christ who lived approximately between the years of 5 BC and 33 AD. It is claimed that Christ was the son of God whose spirit was embodied and sent to Earth as a human being to bring peace and prosperity to the less fortunate, and absolve the world of its sin. Jesus preached a doctrine of a supreme monotheistic god who ruled over the universe, as well as ethics and morals especially centred on the concept of faith and forgiveness. If one was to live their life in accordance to the Will of God and the teachings of Christ found in the written word of the Holy Bible, one would be absolved of their sin and ascend to the spiritual realm of God, known as Heaven, after their physical death.
Isaiah’s terminology when describing God as “The Holy One of Israel”, not only shows reverence by admission of God’s holiness, but also emphasizes the point of the great offenses that the Israelite nation committed against God. As a holy God, he cannot allow sin in his presence, and therefore, must bring effect to the cause. With God’s ultimate goal of reconciliation, punishment is used to its effect while the Servant’s main role was making it available to the people.
St Paul of Tarsus is a significant figure in Christianity due to his major contributions of writings and letters which form a significant amount of the New Testament. St Paul is considered to be the forefather of Christianity after Jesus. Paul had a major impact on these spread of Christianity through his mission journeys, contributing to the religious traditions and helping expand Jesus’ original teachings. The reason behind Paul being a significant person in Christianity is because he contributed to the development of Christianity.
This paper will address these biblical passages in Isaiah 52 and 53, which describes a “suffering servant” to the Lord God. There has been a debate as to whether these passages where describing the Messiah who would come to restore Israel as God’s chosen people or if the passage was describing the nation of Israel as the “suffering servant”. Christian scholars and clergy view these passages as describing Jesus who they affirm as the Messiah. The text is written in a poetic form and flows from one subject to another, however, many view these passages as being extremely detailed prophecy about the Messiah to come. I will point out key passages and explain how these passages provide clarity about whom the writer was speaking. This paper will point out why Jesus is the “suffering servant”, who is mentioned in Isaiah and explain why the “suffering servant” is not the nation of Israel as others propose.
