Monitoring shrinkage: Inventory shrinkage is losses due to shoplifting, employee theft, and robbery. Pharmacists should be observant, say hello to customer, keep displys neat, install security mirrors, and remove high fixture to minimize shoplifting. Some pharmacies use technologies such as inventory control bars to prevent loss of product from theft. It is equally important to recruit honest personnel and monitor their activities as well.

A growing demand has emerged in the healthcare field for well-trained pharmacy technicians to assist the pharmacist in many practice settings by assuming greater responsibilities. These may include order entry, filing prescription orders, compounding sterile preparations, cart fill exchanges, inventory control, operation of automated technology, utilizing the computer system as well as fulfilling other patient specific duties. Well-trained pharmacy technicians in retail and institutional settings are a vital part of the healthcare team.
The contribution of pharmacists in a clinical setting and community pharmacy is significant that the workforce benefit from. When the workforce understands their medications and complies with the prescribed treatment plans the work center becomes healthy and the potential of increased productivity becomes a realistic and profitable proposition for the organization. When the workforce takes advantage of the healthcare services the pharmacists provide in a community and clinical pharmacies productivity and profit are at high potential reality.
The pharmacy technician is responsible for increasing the sustainability of the pharmacy. They do this by follows instructions for the disposal or return of expired, damaged, or otherwise unusable medications, and not flushing them down the toilet or throwing them into the trash. They follow EPA requirements. Pharmacy technicians can also join the Green Team at their place of employment, if they have one, and help improve the environmental impact they have that way as well. They also need to do their jobs counting and dispensing correctly to reduce the amount of medications that go unused.
Office Depot uses multiple inventory strategies to order products. 90% to 95% of goods are ordered through automatic replenishment, manual replenishment, pull replenishment, and global sourcing are also used depending on channel, volume, velocity and cost. (Office Depot, 2015). The accuracy of the inventory from both a DC and store perspective is critical to the organizations success. Heizer and Render (2014) state that record accuracy is a prerequisite to inventory management, production scheduling, and sales. Accuracy is maintained by either periodic or perpetual systems (p.479). In Office Depot, the stores are required to cycle-count technology items such as laptops, desktops computers, and tablets five days a week. Discrepancies are entered in the system and bounced off the local DC’s on-hand inventory discrepancies. Office Depot is a “blind receive” organization meaning the stores receive pallets of products and simply unwrap and put them away. The only way a store knows if a product is missing is through the cycle-count program. This system was put into place to speed up the receiving process and eliminate unnecessary steps once the product was received at the store level. Office Depot conducts a full physical inventory once a year through a third party and trues up the inventory shrink at this time.
The management team at Smithford Pharmaceutical has decided now is the time to reduce their inventory cost. But in order to reduce inventory a plan needs to be implemented. Inventory reduction cannot be done in a bubble. There are various variables that will need to be considered when executing this task.
A pharmacy technician is basically an assistant to a licensed pharmacist. It is their job to provide advice, assistance, and medication to the customers, in correlation with the licensed pharmacist. The position of the pharmacy technician is usually behind a pharmacy counter in drugstores, hospitals, and other facilities. Learnhowtobecome.org (http://www.learnhowtobecome.org/pharmacy-technician/) informs that you should be prepared to work with pharmacists, as well as patients.
So you want to be a pharmacy technician? A pharmacy technician (tech) is more than just pushing pills; it’s more than just counting and knowing medications. In today’s world, many people move from a place to another. “According to the data released by the US Deparment of Homeland Security(DHS); in 2014 there were 42.4 million immigrants living in the states (Denning, 2017).” Denning also emphasizes that the majority of immigrants are coming from countries such as Mexico,India, and China(2017). When Denning complains about the dramatic rise of the number of people who immigrate to the US, Lynch claims that many people are not even given the chance to board(Denning,2017)(Lynch,2017). Although many people migrate to the U.S for its freedom and job opportunities, there are still undeniable difficulties for the immigrants such as cultural differences and unemployment.
If you could choose anyone in the world, who would you choose for your role model? Without a doubt, mine would be Cameron Newton, quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Why is he my role model you might ask? Well, when you watch him on that field, you can see the passion in his eyes, and the adrenalin rushing through him. Newton has gone through rough times, is an all-time favorite to the crowd, and although he started off his NFL seasons with quite a bit of controversy, he lead the Panthers to a memorable path straight to Super Bowl 50. Reasons like this make his my role model.
Although Alliance Supermarkets utilizes a point-of-sale system to track its inventory levels and keep constant records for each location’s on-hand quantities, the firm still experiences several problems with regards to effective and efficient inventory management. As stated in the case study, “sudden changes in demand for a particular item can catch the company by surprise as it bases inventory replenishment on historical demand patterns. Further, demand patterns and preferences may vary from one store to another depending on the customers served by each, but the inventory system groups all demand information together and treats each store equally. Finally, the manufacturers that make the products stocked by Alliance Supermarkets are
Currently, more responsibilities are being given to the pharmacy technician that were traditionally performed by pharmacists, such as clarifying prescriptions and entering orders. With these additional responsibilities for the pharmacy technician, this will allow the pharmacist to spend additional time with patients. However, with these additional responsibilities enables more opportunities for error. In 2008, a study was performed at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, a 178 bed acute care facility
