Response Assignment #1 All of the films we viewed for this unit were very eye opening. One my favorite of the bunch was definitely Into the Wild. Chris’s journey to find absolute freedom by escaping civilization and becoming more in tune with the wild or nature was very intriguing. One point of the film that really stuck out to me was his decision to burn all of his money. He say that money make us more cautious. I believe that money does make us more cautious in everyday life. We as a society rely way too much on material things and are always trying to have bigger and better things. With wanting more we have to rely on money because with out it we cant reach our goals. I agree with Alex because I feel money does make us more cautious in everyday life. We need if to succeed and to move forward in our society. The film discusses what we as human s think and how we approach different things. We as humans have a great ability to adapt and to overcome but when we adapt and over come different things, we happen to change the things around us. A lot of the time we don’t consider the adverse affect that we are cause until it is sometimes to late. We as human think that we are above nature, which is crazy to think about. We cant live without it. We need to find ways to live along nature rather than doing whatever we want. I think as a society we have an act first and ask questions later mindset. Which I believe this is why the things are the way they are today. The 11th hour film does a great job on playing with these ideas and shows us that we need to live with nature rather than against it or else there will be consequences to pay, which the film shows throughout the
