Imagine you are hired by a new start-up company. You are tasked to recognize and explore a new business opportunity of creating a new product or service for your company. When I heard Mr. Chouinard’s discussion on my favorite podcast, “How I Built This”, I immediately wanted to apply for Patagonia’s PR/Communications internship. I am so impressed by the quality of clothing, and I am in awe of Patagonia’s corporate strategies and commitment to sustainability. I think one of the biggest faults in fashion for college aged students is how everything is poorly made and not meant to last. It makes young people more wasteful. I would be proud to do public relations for a company that is committed to lifetime wear and promotes repair rather than replacement.

This business plan refers to opening a restaurant that provides Asian food. The restaurant is intended to sell fresh Asian foods, beers, fruit drinks and wines. I decided to start with these products because they aim at mass market and every age group of Asians in the market will purchase one product or the other, by doing this I'll make money from one product or the other.

The conceptual venture that I am going to start when I get all the resources that I need is Wyatt’s Liquor and Tobacco Store. At my store, customers will be able to purchase varieties of liquor, beer, wine, and tobacco products. There is no doubt that the Fashion Institute of Technology stands out and has so much to offer to an aspiring fashion merchandise manager. Courses such as: Advertising and promotion, the fundamentals of textiles, and product development will provide me with the knowledge base to not only run a successful business, but to be an innovative leader in the industry. Culturally Specific Groups Essay Recognizing culture concerns is very important especially in a group setting. Professionals that lead groups should have a knowledge base of their clients’ cultures and be able to demonstrate competence. Understanding diverse cultures shows sensitivity in certain areas to some individuals who are of another culture. I nominate myself for the scholarship to LIM's College Summer fashion Lab so I can further my love of the fashion world. As a senior at Chicago State University, I am determined to succeed in my education endeavors. I plan to become an entrepreneur in the fashion industry. In providing women with the latest fashions, they will become acquainted with the coordination of styles, colors and patterns. Sometimes the best things about life are small and often overlooked. This can be true with colleges too, and this is definitely true with apparel at Cornish. Apparel at Cornish is a very new addition to Cornish Design, with it’s first class starting in the Fall of 2015. Currently apparel at Cornish consists only of a practicum and an inter-arts elective and is not yet a program or focus, but eventually hopes to become a full program with the ability to offer a design degree with a focus on apparel. This new program is incredibly innovative, taking huge steps to make the future become the now and to address major social issues through the use of new technologies and clever design.
