Interviews for data collection:
The research design constitutes the blueprint for the collection, measurement, and analysis of data (Cooper and Emory, 1995). It involves (a) selecting sources and types of information used to answer the research questions; (b) specifying the relationships among the study’s variables; and (c) outlining each procedure for conduct of the research. The research design not only provides the plan and structure for an investigator to obtain answers to research questions, but also helps researchers to allocate their limited resources in order to complete the research project within time and financial constraints (Robson, 1993; Cooper and Emory, 1995). Six interviews were conducted.
Interview Rationale:
In this field case study, multiple data collection techniques were employed as a strategy of triangulation .These included unstructured and semi-structured interviews with project team members and users involved in the implementation of the knowledge portal, observations made during the meetings, visits to the websites, and documentation reviews. The interviews were mainly conducted face-to-face, supplemented by telephone and email. The interviewees were selected to reflect different roles in the implementation of the knowledge portal. The interview questions were designed according to these different roles. The field case study was conducted in two stages.
The first stage was to explore the context and background in which the knowledge portal was
The portal and collaboration tools were rolled out to staff and 1000+ dealership staff, with access controlled by a complex security structure allowing the right people to see the right content at the right time. The systems were quickly adopted by the majority of users and today are used companywide. The implementation of the
The article review done by the team has provided a baseline for what is needed to create a good portal as well as to sustain the portal for further extension in the future. The team evaluated Ellucian, Wikipedia and Yahoo in order to have a better insight in terms of functionality, design and content management system for an existing portal. In conclusion, the reviews have produced a positive impact for the development team
This essay discusses the philosophies, concepts, and methodologies of research investigations. Research designs are contrasted and compared to assess benefits, limitations, and applications. Approaches to quantitative and qualitative studies are illustrated and explained. The operations and purposes of program evaluations and action research studies are elucidated.
Gun control is very controversial issue in the US. Gun control is one of the main political topics because people are divided on the issue , especially after many mass shootings in the past decade. However, gun control issue became less argued topic. According to Charles et al ., (2009) , “Among a long list of issues facing the American public, guns are third only to gay marriage and abortion in terms of people who report that they are ''not willing to listen to the other side.''.
The purpose of this report is to analyse the potential methods that may be used in conducting research for this project, and to outline the research design.
Assessment of Current Information Resources: The First step in this planning is to calculate or understand or estimate the current information resources used in the
Qualitative and Quantitative study designs both can be beneficial in research design. They both provide valuable options for researchers in the field. These techniques can either be used separately in a research study or they can be combined to achieve maximum information. This paper will define the terms qualitative and quantitative; describe the similarities and differences between each; discuss how qualitative and/or quantitative research designs or techniques could be used in the evaluation of my proposed research; and discuss why linking analysis to study design is important.
This chapter describes the methodology to be used in the study in order to achieve the purpose and objectives of the study. It describes the research design, target population, sample size and sample selection, research instruments to be used, their reliability and validity, procedures for data collections, data analysis techniques, and ethical considerations.
A descriptive research design was adopted for this research. According to (Cooper & Schindler, 2003), a descriptive study is concerned with finding out the what, where and how of a phenomenon. (Saunder et al, 2003) further assert that descriptive research is used principally to gain a deeper understanding of something. The descriptive research collects data in order to answer questions
This chapter presents a list of research methods that I have used for the first case study and plan to use for the second and third case studies as well. I will utilize research through design and qualitative research practices to answer the research question of the thesis. Below I give a brief overview of both the practices and how I execute them in the design and study.
The methodology chapter will be focused on accomplishing two objectives: 1) it will detail the methodology being utilized for this research study and 2)
As stated previously in the research design section of this paper the data collection methods used were by using survey questionnaires, interviews, focus group interviews and observations.
This chapter describes the research methodology that was chosen and why it was the most suitable for the research propositions. This chapter also covers the data collection and analysis and discusses issues of validity and reliability.
The basic principles of research design include devising a research question on a topic to which the researcher is looking to gain knowledge and insight, choosing a sample group of the population to study is also a basic principle of research design. Furthermore deciding which methodological perspective to employ is important as this affects the findings of the researcher because of the fact that quantitative methods allow researchers to
This chapter outlines the research methodology used in the study. It focuses on describing the research philosophy and the design or approach the study adopted. In addition, it provides explanation on sampling, data collection methods, data analysis and techniques adopted and validity and reliability of the research findings.
