Allan Moyes Leadership Scholarship / International Student Scholarship
Respected Scholarship Awards Committee:
Most of the graduates alike me don't discover their management zeal until they've knocked around the workplace for a few years. However, a core of my ambitious pre-entrepreneurial undertakings and a series of coherent roles & responsibilities made me clear that deep down I have a desire to pursue leadership roles down the lane and I believe, a master of management degree from Macquarie would acquaint me with skills and potential to work with senior business leaders to create effective strategies that deal with the pressing business issues, to become an innovator, an influencer, and a decision-maker across all areas of business.

During my tenure, I played a vital role towards bringing in key reforms that ensured better infrastructure facilities for the students residing on campus, which included uninterrupted internet connectivity, hygiene surroundings, and upgraded sports inventory. Also, I was the sole point of contact between the management and the students hailing from the southern part of India who were accounting for more than 50% of the headcount.
Apart from serving my student council term, I was also heading the Show Management and Fine Arts for our third edition of the annual national technical symposium which involved coordinating with all the stakeholders, logistics and ensuring smooth operational activities across all verticals with the help of a team of over 25 enthusiastic volunteers. Prior to this, I was volunteering for the Marketing and Show Management teams during our second edition of the annual national technical symposium while in my
Over the past year, I have completely fallen in love with my new home here at Western Carolina University. I am so proud to be a part of such an incredible community with amazing staff and students. Next year, I will be continuing my studies at Western, taking courses for my chosen major: nutrition and dietetics.
I have been a part of JROTC for the past four years of my high school career. During my time in the program, I gained more self-confidence and was able to venture out of my comfort zone, which allowed me to join numerous clubs and organizations throughout my high school career. The clubs include the Chess Club for one year, the Environmental Club and AFJROTC Honor Guard team for two years, and Science Olympiad all my four years of high school. The organizations include the National Technical Honor Society for two years and National Honor Society for two years as well and voted Vice President.
The reason I have graced you with my letter is to convince you why I am worthy of a scholarship and to tell you about my goals in life.
Although I had only participated in the school Cross Country team for two years, I felt very connected to the team and wish I had participated my sophomore and freshmen year as well. Over the two seasons, I have made many great friends and learned the importance of working hard to achieve my goals. Throughout my life, my parents have pushed me academically, but never really encouraged me to try hard in sports or physical activities. Cross country filled that void for me and helped me become a more well-rounded person.
My father is going to retire in some years and my mother is a house wife. They both have invested in their house heavily therefore these reasons might affect my family’s ability to fund my college tuition.
Like most young boys I grew up idolizing sport heroes, racing kids on the playground, and playing sports outside. My teams were the Cowboys, the Astros, and later on in life the Aggies. Consequentially, if you didn’t love Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio than I didn’t really like you. Although most of these decisions were made based upon my brother’s sport interest, I learned to love them in my own way. After all, my brother was the one who I played basketball with, threw the football and baseball with, and eventually the one who inspired my love for A&M and the Aggies. For all my life I can remember wanting to play sports and wanting to watch sports, but around 7th grade when my brother moved off to A&M is when I really started getting the sports bug. Visiting for home games, standing in the
In my spring 2017 semester Kean awarded me the Freshman Trustee Scholarship for exceptional high school scholastic achievements, such as acquiring a 3.71 unweighted GPA and scoring 27 on the ACT. Whilst having such strong potential for collegiate success, there is a significant demonstrated financial gap in my parents' savings, where I must allocate my job earnings, and the cost for me to independently pursue a college education. Although my brother is diagnosed with severe autism and ADHD, and will remain almost absolutely financially dependent on my parents for his entire life, my source of financial need stems from being the eldest of five. In two years 3/4 of my younger quadruplet siblings, who are juniors in high school, and I will all
I intend to use this scholarship to help pay for my tuition and books at the Southern Arizona University of Phoenix- Online. I would like to be considered for this scholarship because I have no financial help from my family. This means that I have to be able to pay for college on my own because of the fact that my father is no longer in my life, and my mom has my other siblings to take care of. My father is no longer in my life because he now lives in Mexico with his other family. I don’t have financial help from him because he has a wife and six other children. My mother would like to be able to help me, but she has two other children she’s taking care of by herself, and she has to prepare for my sister's graduation next year as well as mine this year. I plan to get a job after I graduate to help pay for the expenses of college, but since I am going online the expenses of college are going to be a lot less than if I were to go on campus, this is the main reason I am planning to go online, and to take a lot of the stress of being totally alone off myself because I will only be twenty minutes away from my family instead of an hour or two.
Robert Frost once wrote, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and I, I took the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference. As a young, educated, black man I have already chosen to take the road less travelled. Life is a journey where you stumble and fall, but I elected to not become a negative statistic. While in high school I decided to start my college education early in the pursuit of bettering my mind and proving to my ancestors that their plight is being well-respected.
High School wasn’t smooth sailing for me and my GPA wasn’t at its full potential. With senior prom and all my senior activities it felt as if time was slowly but surely running out. High school was some of my best years but I was dying to graduate and attend college and be on my own but in order to do so I had to score really high on the ACT or SAT. I was so nervous while taking the SAT and I didn’t do good as I wanted to, feeling defeated I studied really hard for the ACT. Even though I studied the butterflies when I entered the room where the test was being administered wouldn’t go away but I did feel more confident. I took the test and waited days for my results. I was so excited that I scored a 24. I learned that if you put your mind to something you will succeed every time. I took full responsibility for my future and I planned on having a bright one. I felt as a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. After receiving the good news I applied to a total of four universities and I was accepted by all of them. Even though I applied to different schools my dream college was to attend Louisiana State University. Unfortunately LSU’s nursing program is not like an average nursing program. Sadly their nursing program is not located on LSU’s campus
Growing up in poverty meant always being in a pinch for money. This led me to my decision of seeking a job within the first month of my freshman year in high school. Thankfully, this decision led me to the precious self-taught skill of time management. I was able to build my skills until my sophomore year. I tried to take on more shifts at work than I could handle, in aspiration of saving up for a car, and consequently my grades began to slip. I acquired my first C in my favorite class: Chemistry. Being an aspiring student in the medical field, and a student who prides themselves on their grades, I was devastated. As a result, I soon reached the epiphany that one has to have priorities in life; I chose mine to be education. I discussed with my boss my situation and she gave me a set schedule of a doable 4 days a week. This allowed me to do my homework and studying in advance. This also permitted me to get enough sleep,
Ever since I was a young kid I have always been interested in movies. My grandma, who was full of the wise the life experience left, always knew about my interest in movies. She feed my vain for the art. Even though her religion, she professed Adventist of seven-day religion, didn't let her go to the cinema, she always found the way to took me to the cinema. She and I enjoyed watch movies. We used to sit in the darkness room, with our faces illuminated from the reflection of the light which rebooted from the screen, both absorbs in the plot of the movie which made us laughed or cried. After the movie, while we went back to her home, she started to talk about the movie. She had a particular point of view where the main story
As a low-income student, life can be very hard. There are many academic, social, and emotional pressures coming from many different sources. He or she is expected to overcome these obstacles that arise, and deal with them just as any other student would. I am a low-income student myself and I truly believe I have overcome such challenges, and rose up to the occasion of the things life has thrown my way. My passion and experiences will definitely lead me to leadership, service, and academic success at Moravian.
The foreclosure crisis is the second major financial dilemma of the twenty-first century. To solve this, the roots of the problem need to be dug up and exposed followed by replanting with an appropriately improved regulatory system to help build stronger roots for the future. It seems that the free market system can't be free anymore given its intertwining roots extend way beyond domestic to international financial systems. There are two fundamental causes to the latest credit crisis: 1) poor quality securitized mortgages and 2) insufficient underwriting for credit poor borrowers. Secondary (downstream) problems making the financial crisis more complex include underemployment and business failures. Many banks,
