In the very beginning, MADD stood for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and there initial mission was "to mobilize victims and their allies to establish the public conviction that impaired driving is unacceptable and criminal in order to promote corresponding public policy, programs and personal accountability" (MADD Homepage). According to the cite, in 1984 they changed it to Mothers Against Drunk Driving and they mainly focused on eliminating the crime and prevent the actual act of drinking and driving. They wanted to stop drunk driving and help the victims that were affected by this violent crime. As the years go by, MADD slightly changes their mission. Now, they want to stop drunken driving, supports the victims of this crime, and to prevent underage drinking (MADD Homepage).

First you might ask what is the MADD and what do those letters stand for? Well I will tell you MADD is a lobby group for drinking and driving and they’re a huge organization throughout North America. MADD stands for Mothers Against Drunk Driving and they’re main goal is to prevent people from drinking and driving because it is a huge killer in Canada and US. A couple centuries ago, to be specific 1827 was the year of the very first Texas Constitution. The first Texas constitution was called, The Constitution of Coahuila y Tejas. The population of what is now Texas was about four-thousand. Before declaring its independence from Mexico, Texas operated under the Mexican Constitution where there were two houses of congress.

Next, we review the structure and content of the current Texas constitution. Of special concern here is the length, detail and overall organization (or disorganization, as some critics might have it) of the fundamental plan of state government and cornerstone of state law. We then turn attention to what the constitution says about local governments (counties and municipalities). The framers of the constitution had a lot to say about these local governments, and the way they specified their organization and function directly affects the communities we call home.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is a nonprofit organization in the United States that seeks to stop drunk driving, support those affected by drunk driving, prevent underage drinking, and overall push for stricter alcohol policy.

MADD relies on VOCA to continue their service towards drunk driving victims in many areas. Also with the help of many of their supporters, Congress has provided full federal funding of $50 million for the three components of MADD’s campaign. However, the former president and founder of MADD, Candace Lightner, left the organization in 1985, just 5 years after the birth of the institution. She felt as if the focus of the group was steering in a different direction than she had planned. The modernized MADD focal point is any and all drinking before driving should be prohibited.They will achieve this by raising tax prices on beverages and roadblocks created to scare people out of social drinking. It's very easy and MADD is the organization that sets out and is trying to change the outcome of drunk driving forever. One way they set out to do this is by using real mothers, that have lost children to drunk driving, to give speeches to the youth about how drunk driving changed their families forever. This impacts many people because they can feel the pain these mothers have gone through and would never want to cause their own mothers, or family members for that matter, to feel the same grief and despair. The appeal of this groups is unfortunate but sometimes tough love is the only way to really get the point across and MADD is exceptional at this. By educating citizens about the dangers of drunk driving, MADD is almost subconsciously giving citizens the mentality that drunk driving is wrong and should be changed. People start getting the idea throughout their heads and then that's when the laws kick in.
