Kirsten Moore Karen Hughey Human Relations 8 December 2015 Personality Enlighten is defined as "to give (someone) greater knowledge and understanding about a subject or situation.” This class is the definition of enlightening, I have learned a great amount about myself and those who surround me. The RHETI test was an enjoyable process that gave me results that couldn’t describe me any better than they did and has shed light on one of my most recent strained workplace relationships and how our personalities were like oil and water put together. The RHETI test results had me scoring the highest in the Type 7 The Enthusiast category followed close by the Type 3 The Individualist category. The Enthusiasts tend to be busy productive types, that are often extroverted, optimistic, versatile, and spontaneous. Without taking the test and just reading the descriptions of the personality types; I would have selected myself to be highest in Type 7. It describes how I perceive myself and how I think others view me as well. I am seeking a career in that will allow me to experience and see new and exciting places/adventures. On the other side of that I know that I will become exhausted from staying on the go and without time to recuperate. That 's how I relate to the downfalls and the misapplication of talents of Type 7 personalities. I see myself getting: overextended with work and commitments, scattered when there are too many tasks at hand, and undisciplined when I 'm overwhelmed.
I tend to avoid anything that makes a goal that I am striving to achieve difficult. I prefer to just take the simple way out instead of doing things the hard way. The fourth personality type was Unflappable/Calm; I tend to do things very last minute because I am not rattled by time constraints. I work well under pressure. The fifth is quiet, I am a person of little words and so I don’t say much. I am more of a listener and tend to gather information in order to come to a conclusion regarding problem. Overall, I thought the assessment was correct in describing my personality. At the end of the assessment, I was given my strengths and weaknesses based on my personality type. My strengths included being able to work well in constantly changing environments, the ability to put others at ease, ability to observe, being able to figure out simple solutions to complicated situations, and doing what is on my mind instead of talking about what I’m planning to do. My weaknesses or challenges are the inability to plan long term, dislike for repetition, I’m a huge procrastinator, too independent which hurts the people who work with me, because I think I can take on projects alone, I don’t let my team now of what is taking place so they are left blindsided (not
The personality type most different form mine is the artist. “The artist will do whatever works, whatever gives them a quick, effective payoff, even if they have to bend the rules” (Keirsey, n.d.). I find myself struggling with this personality because I like to play by the rule, not bend them. I like to take time and assess the best way to do
They suggest that measuring one’s characteristics such as sociability, drive, self-determination and demeanor can aid one to better interpret and discern them introspectively. By taking the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) I am able to compare my personality traits to careers in which I may enjoy, will fit my individual personality and enable me to be successful say Drummond, Jones & Sheperis (2016). The results of my self-administered inventory are as follows; Introvert (I) 55%, Intuitive (N) 76%, Feeling (F) 86% and Perceiving (P) 67%. The four dimensions of the inventory seem to be very accurate for the manner in which I view myself. The result of INFP suggests that my personality shows a predominant association with being in a career in which I am able to care for others, such as a healer. This is a correlate with my first career as a firefighter and
During the month of January, the Mktg 3100 class that I took part in, was given a Myers-Briggs characterization form to fill out. Because the Myers-Briggs results place me into two categories, I shall discuss this response to both ISFJ and ISFP character trait types. This paper will discuss my viewpoints, others viewpoints, and the characteristics on how it might affect the decisions I make with my activities, social, vocational life. The results of this examination were two because of how closely related my answers were to both types. Though this is a good ball-park estimate on what kinds of traits I may have, it is not perfect.
At my old high school, I was very competitive. I was ranked valedictorian of my class. I worked very hard, taking all the AP classes and being involved in as many extracurricular as possible in order to stand out. I did not let anything distract me. I was very focused and I always got my work done. Back then, I could’ve been considered a Type A personality. Chapter three in the textbook describes Type A as very intense, ambitious, with a driven personality and competitive. However, when I enrolled in RCHS something changed the
During the power point on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, as the instructor went through the different types of personalities, I was able to recognize which subcategories I fall into almost instantly. When my computer personality test results were returned, I was correct. As I read the type descriptions of Extroversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Judging- ENFJ- I quickly recognized myself within the descriptive words.
This assessment shows its strength by the fact that I feel as though it matches with my life. Through this, I have gain insight to the fact that I could be helpful but almost to the degree in which I could be harmful to me. While reading the description, I was proud at some parts and discourage at others. However, I do have the understanding that every personality-type as a flaw. This assessment was useful in terms of gaining insight to my motivation, strengths and weakness of my personality. This can be a useful tool to use with clients.
According to my IPIP-NEO narrative report I am a very independent, outgoing, calm, and curious person. My comprehensive report shows that I am: high scoring in openness, conscientiousness, and extraversion, average scoring in agreeableness and low scoring in Neuroticism. Raking in the 82nd percentile, extraversion was my second highest scoring trait. This means I am pretty outgoing, extraverted and love people. This is evident my scores of 89 in friendliness, 84 in assertiveness and 75 in activity level. Despite my high score in extraversion, I am on the lower side of average in the excitement-seeking facet with a score or 33. This means that even though I might like a little hustle and bustle and take charge I wont take to many risks and don’t always need a thrill to be satisfied.
Based on the work of Carl Jung, Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs developed the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator, a self-inventory geared toward helping individuals determine their personality types and individual areas of strength. “By helping people understand themselves, Myers and Briggs believed that they could help people select occupations that were best suited to their personality types and lead healthier, happier lives” (Cherry, 2015). This test, through helping me explore my own personality, likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, and various preferences and compatibilities, has been instrumental in affirming my
During my informative speech, I had many differences from my SHEILD speech. One of which was that I had been given time to deal with, and get used to the events that have happened, being my great aunt’s passing and my mother having a stroke. However, although all wounds heal in time, some can be plucked at and re-opened. However, sometimes, that is what is needed to heal an injury.
I. Attention Getter: The Society of Human Resource Management quoted John Green, a Vice President of Human Resources in an article they released called The Look and Feel of Strategic Human Resource Management: Conversations with Senior HR Executive saying “In the past, when I started the business, the people would look for security and plan to be there the rest of their life. They had more of an attitude of “What can I bring to the company?” But in today’s world, we have employees with the attitude of “What can the company do for me?” Now we try to tailor our employee benefits programs to meet the needs of our employees in order to keep them, and at the same time, make our employees fit the business model that we are in. Unlike the past, today, when we are planning and developing business plans for the future, we have to take into consideration the skills of our workforce and what it wants from us.”
You will discover that a hobby is something you enjoy primarily for personal rewards. Therefore, what is your personality type? Not the person that you show to the public, but the real person within.
Evaluating my own reflection was indeed something hard to do until I started learning Human Relations. Without self-awareness and self-disclosure, one can’t see his own reflection. It’s like a mirage in the dessert. We assume that something is there, but it won’t be there. And others mostly won’t envision the views we perceive. We may even have different opinions and may end up in fights.
This English class has been an amazing learning experience for me. It made me grow as a writer, I am now more convinced when I write and can express myself more effectively, so readers understand what it is exactly that they’re reading about. Although I didn’t get off to a great a start in this course and if I had to do it over again, there are definitely some things that I could have done better. Interacting with my peers on the discussion board, made me learn a few things about working with others and the Smart thinking was helpful as well. However, above all the things I learned from this course, the most was about myself. The knowledge
