Speech # 2
“Global Warming”
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about global warming problem, effects and solution.
Organizational Pattern: Cause and Effect
INTRODUCTION
I. Attention Getting Device: On November 21, 2017 NASA published an article on the issue of global climate change which quoted this, ''NASA tool link port-city seal levels to regional ice melts''. NASA has been working to minimize the effect of global climate change and recently it has developed 'NASA tools'. This particular tool links changes in sea level of around 293 global port cities. Most specifically, the tool links changes seen in vulnerable regions, such as Greenland and the Antarctic Peninsula, where ice lands are melting rapidly. Such development will allow coastal planners to be aware and prepare for rising seas level for years to come.
II. Credibility Position (Why you picked this topic): After I read this particular article, it made me realize that the global warming was taking pace at a rapid speed than I had imagined. Its impact was certainly happening quickly than I expected. Then, I did some research to find out its problems and also I looked at solutions to minimize the impact of global warming.
III. Thesis Statement (Central Idea): Today I would like to share my thoughts on one of the most heated topic of 21st century which is global warming, alongside its cause and its mitigation alternatives.
IV. Preview of Points: First, I’d like to talk about the issue/problem itself which is global warming. Then I will discuss its solutions. Finally, I will conclude my discussion with the advantages provided by solution which could help save our planet from the problem.
Main Points of Speech
I. The PROBLEM Step (The problem you want to fix). What is the cause of the problem? How significant is the problem? Who or what is to blame for the problem?
The first definable cause of global warming is because human activities. In the past few decades the population of the world has increased rapidly. This has certainly triggered to increase pollution and ultimately effecting in the rise of earth's temperature. The major contributors of the climate change
Central Idea: To discuss global warming. What is causing it? The effects that it has on the earth and its inhabitants? Address possible solutions to lessen the growth of climate change.
The coasts are flooded, heatwaves beat down on the land and violent storms destroy cities. This isn’t an action movie this is a reality if nothing is done about climate change and global warming. I’m talking to you, United States Legislators, Something must be done about this crisis in the making, now before it gets out of hand. The United states is a world leader and if we implement strong climate change legislation and regulations it will start to make the US a safer and healthier place to live then the world will follow. Though many may say there is no scientific proof of climate change and global warming and try to discredit even its existence, this is flatly not true. The scientific consensus on climate change, is resounding agreement that climate change is real and that something needs to be done fast. The evidence is overwhelming and the effects on our country is already showing. This is a wake up call to the US legislators. Something must be done to help preserve our great nation and keep it from going to ruin.
Question “Do you know that using cars for the planet is like smoking cigarettes for people?”
If we talk about the biggest problem, we will see climate change in the world. There is certainly a great deal of evidence to support the view that global warming is a result of the build up of greenhouse gases caused by human activities. In this essay I will look briefly at the scientific debate surrounding its causes and perhaps more importantly, consider what action we can take to slow the process down.
A) (Subpoint) Climate change is the change of climate in a locations usual weather during different seasons. Once all of these separate climates begin to change so does the Earth’s.
Have you heard what is happening to the environment? Like how Greenland loses is 286 Gigatonnes of ice per year! And as of January 22, 2017, it has lost 3778.7 Gigatonnes since 2002! Why you ask? It’s due to Climate change. Climate change is a serious problem in our world, It can either end it or make it prosper that is why I chose to research it. Climate change won’t just effect on a country or continent, it will affect the whole world, and we are a part of that world. So, I decided to research it to see what we as humanity can do about climate change. To help I asked myself more questions such as “What will happen if we don’t intervene?”, “What is the source of the problem?”, “What are our choices as humanity?” After my research, I believe that there is a way to stop climate change and to do that we as humanity need to work together.
Nowadays, the whole world are paying attention on the controversy about climate change and global warming. Hot topics include whether global warming is occurring, warming level in modern times, causes, effects and what that action should be taken (Science Daily). On one hand, there is a strong consensus that human and industries take main responsibility for the rapid increase of global surface temperatures in recent decades, and greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide is the major cause of global warming. Meanwhile, some people that come from organizations with
A. Restate thesis: Natural disasters are growing larger and more dangerous, and exotic species are dying as a result in the climate shift. Humanity must act now to reduce and reverse global warming
Global warming has been a long standing scientific argument. As Minnesotans just experienced this past winter, winter can be very real and harsh at times. Following this recent winter, many people dispel the reality of global warming as just a myth simply because of what they have experienced, without looking at the real data, the facts behind the topic. Global warming is also a highly contested topic within our political landscape, dividing parties and raising or losing elections based on climate change. “The source of a climate change message is also very important – if the audience trusts the communicator, they are more likely to trust their arguments.” (Why are people still skeptical about climate change? n.d., para. 10) Some believe climate change can threaten our trade and industry sector, harming our economy as well as international relationships.
Purpose: To persuade my audience about the recurring problem of global warming, and how it will affect us in the future, if we continue with polluting our earth.
In this speech, I will inform you on the health, environmental, and economic issues that stem from global warming and show how they affect the general
The world is home to billions of people, living all across the globe. There are hundreds of countries and they all have different problems. Yet there is one issue that is worldwide, which is global warming. Global warming is a colossal problem to the United States and the world that threatens the very existence of humankind; further action must be taken by the United States’ government in order to minimize and counteract global warming.
This point of this essay, as the topic identifies, is to discuss global warming and the actions taken. Therefore the breadth of this essay will discuss Global warming; Its Causes, Its Effects and Its Solutions.
Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future.
Many consider global warming to be the largest threat that faces the earth today. This is just the opposite as we could not survive without global warming! The topic for this speech will be whether or not there is an imminent threat of Anthropogenic (or manmade global warming) at the end of my speech I would like the audience to develop the truce perspective on the issues of manmade global warming. This will be done through a small representation of the facts related to manmade global warming. To have a better understanding of what we’re exactly talking about in regards to the manmade global warming we will look at this chart. (See chart) The atmosphere is divided into four parts, 78% is in
