Let me tell you guys a little story about how I came to find one of my all time favorite bands. A few summers back I just happened to be watching television as most high school kids do during the summer when I just happen to catch an older episode of American Dad. This episode had to deal with one of the show's minor characters Jeff Fischer being on an alien spaceship, and I'm not really going to go into it because it's not that big of deal to the story, but the creatures on the show basically have a way of telling if you're truly in love and if you were you would get sent back to Earth to be with your love. During this ceremony, a creature called the Majestic judges to see if you're in love. During this ceremony, the song "Majestic" by Wax Fang was played I'll leave the link to the small part in the episode down below, but now I want to get to the bottom of Wax Fang. This was where I was first able to hear the band's smooth riffs and tantalizing lyrics that seem to grab you right out from your seat. …show more content…
We have lead singer Scott Carney and bassist Jacob Heustis there is an ex-member of the band Kevin Ratterman whose tenure with the band came to an end in 2011. One of the things that drew me to this band is the eccentric vocals of the frontman Carney, the band gives off a different sound than most of the stuff that's out there today.
With four albums out to date and a new single that was dropped only five weeks ago, Wax Fang is getting their stuff out there and doing a damn good job of it. My favorite album to date from the band is La La Land (2010), this is the album that I think if you are going to try and dive into their music this is the one you start with. The first two tracks "Majestic" and "World War 2" are superb to say the least, then you have a track like "At sea" that is just instrumentals but leads perfectly into "Cannibal
Have you taken a ride on the wild side? These guys definitely have. When I talk about “these guys” I mean Mötley Crüe. Mötley Crüe is a rock and roll band that has changed the world of music. With the combination of Vince Neil (lead vocals), Nikki Sixx (bass), Mick Mars (guitar), and Tommy Lee (drums) they have been known to be one of the greatest rock bands in history.
Their first release is a “self-titled” EP with five songs on it–with all them being sort of different, but cohesive; and so there might be something for every indie-lover. My personal favorite is track 3 “Fishes”. Something about that opening guitar line takes me back to the days when I would pull obscure albums
Tommy DeCarlo is the lead vocals, keyboards, and percussion. Born and raised in Utica, New York, DeCarlo lived and breathed sports, playing baseball, football and basketball throughout his school years. DeCarlo’s interest in music began in elementary school when he joined the school choir, he started playing piano when he was about 14 years old. He was usually picking out chords on an old upright when he wasn’t playing sports. Tom Scholz happened to hear DeCarlo’s cover of “Don’t Look Back,” and was shocked, thus asking him to join the band. Prior to that, the largest crowd that Tommy had sung in front of was several dozen people, performing karaoke in a bowling alley. When he’s not on the road with Boston, he plays in a cover band with his

The original lineup did not last long; after much shuffling around, the members today are Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell, and Scott Shriner. The band includes typical instruments of the alternative rock sound, including guitar (Rivers Cuomo—lead), bass (Scott Shriner), drums (Patrick Wilson), and vocals (Rivers Cuomo—lead). The backups include guitar (Brian Bell) and vocals (all members).
Their music is hardcore folklore with a strong emphasis on the instruments; also they add
The group began when Trevor Moore, a comedian from Charlottesville, Virginia attended school at the New York School of Visual Arts for film production. From watching the firs few of the group’s videos, I was saw Moore had his own sketch-comedy show in his hometown of Virginia, but it was eventually cancelled because viewers felt as though
The group was formed in 1965 by bluegrass - enthusiast Jerry Garcia on guitar and vocals, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan on vocals and organ, Bob Weir on guitar and vocals, classical music student Phil Lesh on bass and vocals, and Bill Kreutzmann on drums. From the beginning, they brought together a variety of influences, from Garcia's country background to Pigpen's feeling for blues (his father was an R&B radio DJ) and Lesh's education in contemporary serious" music. Add to that, the experimentation encouraged at some of the group's first performances at novelist Ken Kesey's
While The Beatles are most recognized as the biggest icons in rock, The Beatles have pioneered more than just entertaining music in their decade long run. On their eponymous 1968 self-titled album The Beatles, more commonly known as The White Album, the song “Helter Skelter” granted many a persons’ attention for it’s unusually “heavy” music style. While other songs on the album also share this unusual aggression, most notably “Birthday” and the single version of “Revolution 1,” it is “Helter Skelter” that has typically gained this attention. In fact, critics have later cited “Helter Skelter” as the advent of the genre “Heavy Metal.” Originally a slow, acoustic/blues type song lasting over 27 minutes, “Helter Skelter” evolved when Paul McCartney
Tyler started his music career with his high school pals Nick Thomas and Chris Salhi after hearing a singer perform at, “High School Street Club.” They name the band “Twenty One Pilots” after a play Tyler watched. Nick and Chris later left the band in 2011. After, he eventually met his permanent partner Josh Dun at “Guitar Center.” Brendon also is no stranger to losing band members. He’s gone through so many band members he should change his band name from “Panic! At the Disco” to “Brendon! At the Disco.” Brendon started his career as
A reviewer at Seven Days said “It's like the musical equivalent of floating in a bioluminescent bay under a canopy of starlight”. Legrand’s unconventional use of organs, slide guitars, and programmed drums result in a light but powerful sound. Coupled with her dreamy vocals, results in an all-around mystical atmosphere that does not fail to push the boundaries of traditional pop music. When debuted, their music was initially brushed off as just another band trying to make it big. But after a little listening, it was obvious their intentions were not rock-band-level stardom, it was to bring something new to the table, something nobody had expected from a two-piece band out of Baltimore. “The boy-girl duo making lovesick, narcotized rock with lots of depth and sweep” is what Pitchfork had to say about their self-titled album released in 2006. Simply put, it rocked the indie music community. After experiencing their next few albums it was obvious they were a rising band which was to be respected. Not only for producing lovely music to be interpreted by the listener, but because they pushed the envelope of music one step farther. This ambitious drive was what kept Beach House on the map through ten years of powerful
The Puffin lives in the northern hemisphere and its habitat is the sea and coastal region.
What is most impressive about In Reverence is how they exhibit the level of professionalism expected from seasoned bands such as Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir even though they are only just surfacing. Excellent production and passionate talent help construct the uneasy atmosphere that “The Selected Breed”” displays. Elongated guitar harmonies deeply placed at the back of the mix- yet always visible- slither around unhurriedly during the title track and “Anthropogeny” in contrast to the relentless riffing and trembling tremolo onslaughts in both songs. This effect creates a tangible sense of dread during the panicked state of emergency they are constantly in. Moreover, this impending dread is felt
Mixing genres and styles are not easy, but what is harder still, is staying relevant and above the rest, Deerhunter, an American indie rock band from Atlanta, Georgia has done just that and have seven full-length albums to proof it. Since 2001, Deerhunter has submerged themselves in neo-psychedelic, garage rock, shoegaze, and post-punk genres. I can still remember the first time when I listen to "Halycon Digest", their fifth full-length album. It was ultimately a good album, it had everything right from lyrics to instruments and musical composition but I knew deep down inside that something wasn't right about, it just did not quite stick to me as much as I wanted and I am still ashamed of having that same exact feeling for their seventh studio album Fading Frontier.
Perhaps one of the most pressing issues faced by women in Many African countries today are the many barriers preventing them from having access to sexual health and family planning services. “The World Health Organization (WHO) defines family planning as “the ability of individuals and couples to anticipate and attain their desired number of children and the spacing and timing of their births. It is achieved through use of contraceptive methods and the treatment of involuntary infertility” (Tessema, Gizachew Assefa, 2). By examining the causes of what is preventing women in areas Africa from taking control of their sexual health, and the number of children they wish to have, possible solutions can be contrived. In Kenya for example, “20.9 percent
