What is cancer ?

Cancers are a large family of disease that involve abnormal cell growth which can then spread to other parts of the body.This year about 564,800 Americans are expected to die of cancer, more than 1,500 people a day. Cancer may be identified with many kind of symptoms depending on where in the body is the cancer located, how big is the cancerous tumor and how much is affects the surrounding organs and tissues. When the cancer has spread or grown the symptoms will be more noticeable. Sometimes the cancer will start in places where it will be hard to notice because it will not cause any symptoms until the size of the tumor starts to show. This may be caused because the cancer cells use the body’s supply and the tumor may at times push out substances which will affect the body.White patches inside the mouth or on the tongue, unusual bleeding, thickening or lump in the breast or other parts of the body, trouble swallowing, recent change in your skin or growth of warts are only some of the many symptoms of cancer.
Aswell as being many ways to diagnose cancer they are many types of cancer such as: Skin cancer, Lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer and leukemia. These are only the top 7 types of cancer diagnosed in 2009. These types of cancers are only some of so many , the list may go on and on. They are more than 100 types of cancer .Once the cancer is found and diagnosed you will have to go through treatment such as chemotherapy and other radiation treatments. Surgery, is the first treatment option only when the tumor can be taken out of the body. Chemotherapy and other radiation treatment can be used to shrink the tumor size before or after the surgery by killing the cancer cells. During chemotherapy they may be some side effects.
