An Independent Study with you, Mr. Sikora, is an educational class where well-motivated students focus on a topic such as business or broadcasting. This differs from other classes because students gain research experience along with specialized materials and attention. I would like to have an Independent Study with you to achieve direction in the career path I want to pursue, have experiences that a normal classroom would not offer, and work on my strengths / weaknesses as a student. An Independent Study would allow for the time and resources required to fully examine careers that I am interested in pursuing. For example, a project related to the actuarial sciences or accounting profession would provide me insights into the problems that these
Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time suggests that one should be given the independence to make his/her own choices, in order to be able to develop one’s own identity. This is demonstrated through Christopher’s independence in finishing his Maths A level course as well as locating his Mother. Firstly, Christopher gains a sense of independence when he finishes his Maths A level and receives the best score. After Christopher finishes his exam he starts planning for future degrees and careers, “I was going to take A-level further maths next year …. And I can live in a flat with a garden and a proper toilet. And I can take Sandy and my books and my computer. And then I will get a First Class Honors degree and I will become
Colonists throughout the colonies went into a period of opposing their motherland, England. The main victims blamed for the colonists views of opposition was King George III and the British Parliament. Both advocated legislation that would affect the colonists to a point of revolution. The legislation supported the main reason for independence, but other factors play a role as well. Aside from the economic grievances, factors like political philosophy, propaganda, and social rank drove the colonists to independence from Great Britain.
Briefly describe the problem or issue that you have decided to be the topic for your project proposal in order to orient your classmates and faculty
Independence involves breaking from the commonly accepted, traditional views in order to explore the new. It is not necessarily individual people working alone. We can see independence in a community of thought as well as in the work of a single person.
both independence and collaboration have there highs and there lows. But when it comes down to the real world, independece is more important . When it comes down to it you are the one that determines what is best for you. the way i see it, no one is going to be by your side holding your hand teaching you what to do and what not to do threw out your
Independent learning is a solution presented by DiCarlo and Lujan to fix the current curriculum problem: “it is clear that active processing of information and not just passive reception of that information leads to learning” (19). Students must become active learners to encourage cognition. Furthermore, students will succeed when they stop memorizing information and begin understanding it; this begins with shortening curriculums and encouraging independent
First of all, I am an independent person. An independent person is someone that is not anchored by another individual, place, or item. One aspect in my life that I reveal my independence is everyday starting when I wake up in the morning. Every morning I wake up naturally without an alarm clock. My body is my alarm clock and I don't need an object or another person to wake me up. After I wake myself up I will make my own lunch. During the warmer seasons I grown my own fruits and veggies to pack in my lunch. These foods include tomatoes, strawberries, green beans, peppers, onions, and potatoes. One year I attempted to grow my own blueberries but the deer ate my crops. Before school started I went
One strategy that I have used consecutively in the previous years when selecting an independent study unit text was asking for suggestions from my peers who have had their English course before me. I personally prefer listening to other’s experiences to get an idea of what I should do, so I asked about which novel they have read and if they enjoyed it. I also asked them if they could choose another novel, which one would they have chosen instead of the one they read and if those novels would suite my style of reading. Not only did I ask my friends, I also asked my teachers who were teaching that course, if I should choose one book over the other. My thought process at the time was asking myself repetitively if I should choose the novel my
I am independent. It is extremely difficult for me to give control to other people. I am the type of person to be quiet in class but loud around my family and friends. I am originally from Minnesota. I am counting down the days till I graduate from McIntosh. I am ready for a new adventure wherever it may take me.
As part of the English curriculum, students in high school have to take part in an independent study unit. In this unit you are encouraged to read a novel of the students choice, out of a select few novels that the teacher approves of. Several teens who have to take part in this unit don't believe it is important and believe it shouldn't be part of the curriculum. I believe that the Independent study unit should remain a part of the English curriculum due to the fact that it exposes the students that struggle to find an interest in reading, it introduces students to explore different genres and styles of books and it encourages students to practice reading and to read frequently. These few reasons influence me to believe that independent
In The Ethics of Special Education, Howe and Miramontes (2014) outline pressing issues facing special education and provide a framework for discussing ethical challenges. The authors present case studies around personal, institutional, and policy issues. Each case includes analyses and explanation by Howe and Miramontes that provide the reader with a more comprehensive understanding of the ethical issues. The intent of Howe and Miramontes (2014) is to raise the level of thinking about ethical issues and difficult decisions.

I would like to thank you and the Department Chairs for taking the time to consider my independent study on architecture, and I understand that you have decided not to approve it for next year. However, it is a course that is very important to me, and it is one that I believe would greatly enhance my education and experience at Bentley.
They need to look at the advantages and disadvantages of the project and how the project will affect the community.
Graduating and getting out on your own is a difficult step to make. There are a lot of things that you have to take into perspective. The choices that you make when you get out of highschool believe it or not are crucial and life altering. Decisions that you have to make are ones like what you want your career to be, where you want to live, and a big decision is buying a house. In making these decisions you have to do a lot of research and things to be prepared. I did a lot of research in hopes of finding a career that I would like and three things that I could see myself doing was owning my own spa ($100,000 yearly salary), managing a spa($60,000 yearly salary), or being an
