11/SEP/2010 Importance of Accountability The importance of accountability, are being on time and in the right uniform. The main reason we have formations and that we are trying to keep account of personnel to know where everybody is at, at all times. I have learned in the past years that I have been in that being on time is the most important thing that you need to do. For one the accountability of personnel is major, it plays a big role in the deployment and the readiness of soldiers. I would have to say that I was wrong for not showing up at my appointed place of duty I should have gotten up and made it to the swimming pool. I have learned that the army is all about making the right choices and doing the right thing so if anything makes sure that you are always doing what is right. I for one have been late a few times and now I have to make sure that I take care of that so that I can keep my rank and not lose anything. The right thing for me to do is I will make sure that I have an alarm clock set for the time I need to be up and to better myself to get up as soon as it goes off. Then I will make sure that I am getting a good amount of sleep so that I can get up on time and not be late or dragging while I am at work. I have done so well I just need to be more attentive in what I am doing and make sure that I have my things in order and that I am prepared for everything that comes my way. It’s time to set aside the differences have against me and be a leader by example if people see me showing up whenever they will do the same thing. So now I have to make sure that I lead by example and not by sub standards because in the long wrong I will be in charge of soldiers and don’t want them to think that they can just show up whenever or talk to NCO’S any way they want. Which brings me to my last part respect in order for soldiers to want to respect anybody you have to show that you are contributing to the work that is going and not just sitting there
First step , Listen ; there are many higher ranking soldiers that will try to go against you but instead of letting that weight hold you down pick it up and make it muscle memory. Listen to those who want you to grow and the ones who are trying to cut you from extending your success. Being able to listen and draw out the big picture sets you ahead of many people within service even some of which may out rank you based off of your drive to become successful. Secondly ; Ethic “ a set of moral principles, especially ones relating to or affirming a specified group , field or form of conduct. Setting your ethics to a high standard sticks you out from those who may not have there's too squared away. This includes simple things such as PT , hygiene, orders , understanding of rank and respect within and outside of uniformed hours , etc… one more step but MAJOR step is RESPECT. Respect is simply treating others the way you would want to be treated and the way they deserve to be treated. With respect your duties can be performed quiet accurately and quickly based off of thew level of chemistry within your team , platoon , company , battalion , brigade, and so on… with these three short steps you can make a major difference and become a vessel within the source you
The importance of accountability is very important in the military. You always need to be accounted for when it’s time for formation, when you’re not where your supposed to be then your chain of command worries about their soldiers because they are given a task. In the military you have to be in the right place at the right time, in the right uniform. If you are given a task in the army you MUST perform it to the best of your ability and knowledge, or you will be counseled on your short comings accordingly. Everyone claims they are doing it yet so many leaders and employees lack the concept of accountability. Accountability is a subject that ranges through every spectrum of life. Accountability is hold each person responsible his or her own actions in the given situation, especially when we know the circumstances. If we are not to hold each other responsible for each of our own actions and choices then we will never be able to correct problems and concerns, which will make us fail as a whole because the smallest individual action can account for the gravest of consequence.

(Johann Wolfgang von Goethe) Every military in this world has some sort of chain of command in which respect is the main premise behind the entire Idea of organization and with a chain of command. Respect is important in the design of the military system itself. You have to automatically trust and do what the person appointed above you says because they are your senior. The most important thing that respect is earned through training and experiences they have gained to get to the position they have.

At the present time, as the owner of a small consulting business, accountability plays a significant role in the organization’s culture. Jerry recently became the supervisor for the Case analyst unit, and discovered that Frank had been doing a little over half of the work of the other employees. Jerry is facing a situation of an employee that was not held accountable and disgruntle co-workers because Frank is not pulling his share of the work. It is often said that the Non Commissioned Officer is the backbone of the United States Army. The truth is respect is the true backbone of the United States Army. Not just respect, but mutual respect. Without mutual respect the Army and all Military would fail in its mission. However, mutual respect alone is still not enough. It is all of the core values that stem from respect. These build together the necessary building blocks of leadership and mutual respect.
Brianna, you sound much like I feel! Even as an educator, I've consistently struggled with procrastination. It isn't always my waiting until the last minute, though sometimes, just as you stated, things come up. I have set alarms and schedules for the majority of this semester, and it has seemingly helped me a ton. Maybe try that out and see of "systematic accountability" is what you need. For a long time I would say, "I just have to do better," then I realized that I needed to start taking strides in that direction. Organization skills have been a major life saver for me these past few weeks, and I'm confident it can serve as a protection from the evil grip of procrastination for you too!
